With Houston sweeping their foes in both the LDS and LCS, they become the third team to do so, and I believe, the second AL team to achieve that feat. The bad news is both teams that preceded them with that mark lost in the fall classic
-
I respectfully disagree. It was more of a bad loss by the Steelers than a good win by the Dolphins. Pittsburgh is not going anywhere. Beating the Bucs (who aren't all that right now anyway) changed nothing. Winning is winning, and Miami did that. It'll go down as such. Despite beating Buffalo, they'll have to play better going forward, or they could find themselves in last place. Looks like both New England and New York aren't awful. Steelers getting swept by another division. I believe it's been 4 years since that happened (AFC West in 2018) Feel awful for the defense of the Steelers. Miami had no answers on offense, but Pittsburgh chose to be a dumpster fire offensively themselves for their 2022 plans. Felt like Pats/Broncos in 2016
-
Field goal for Miami. Could end up being an exciting finish after what looked like a rout in favor of the Dolphins 16-10 Miami, with Pittsburgh getting the ball to start the second half
-
Biased...probably. Accurate? Possibly

The NFC East-dwelling and currently 6 - 1 New York Giants would beg to differ. Meh. The GMEN beat the Pats twice, but by a combined score of 38-30. To be fair, it was embarrassing, especially in 2007 since the Pats were offensive juggernauts and could only produce 13 points. I had to laugh at their failed 2011 revenge tour when they lost at home and then in the Super Bowl again. Pittsburgh lost a game 17-13 and the king of Pittsburgh sports media Ed Bouchette (recently retired) said it was the worst loss out of all the painful ones. That's debatable but the 1994 Steelers were not an elite offensive team. Speaking of the Steelers, for a second I almost forgot there was a game tonight while watching football today. There's something special about watching football when there are no Steelers game in the early winner (usually due to a bye, or a night game on Thursday, Sunday, or Monday)

On one hand I have to disagree. Patrick Mahomes hasn't done much winning as the Patriots. Plus, New England never got humiliated in the big game (unless they were facing NFC Central teams). On the other hand, there is some truth to that. They roll over everyone, but there's that one team that scares them. It just happens to be a former AFC Central team in the form of Cincinnati (same division as Baltimore, who made the Patriots slightly above ordinary)

Yeah, onto Sunday Night Football. With the Dirty 30 and 40 Burger, courtesy of Kansas City at the expense of San Francisco, that should just about do it. While my picks were in reverse (and I actually did well because if it, I was torn between this game and the Colts/Titans game. Both were evenly matched. I usually get stomped by New York, so it was a nice blessing for going with New York today. Somehow, parity will be complete if and when the Niners pound the Bills in February
-
Meh. Still can't wait for Niners vs Bucs. Imagine the postgame if San Francisco wins. Tom: Good game, my man. Jimmy G: That's right. Tom: You have a great future ahead for you. Jimmy G: Yeah right! Jimmy G: And you had a future ahead for you! Tom: What's that? Jimmy G: I think you know the answer to that! Tom: Well, I'm onto Cincinnati! Jimmy G: Damn right you are. P.S. Bill was right to stick with the JIMMY G 5 years ago!

My fault. I thought you hated Pittsburgh. Guess you love the city but not the sports teams. Maybe it was just the Steelers. BTW, if you hate the Pirates, nobody would have a problem with that haha. Ah yes. Yet another delay. There are no words; I'm sorry. While a Yankees elimination is not what you'd want, I sorta want that since it would prevent the series from lasting too far into the week. Without the day off between Games 5 & 6, I can't see New York pulling off a 2004 Boston. Really infinity reasons why it's not happening this year
-
I actually admire the NHL rules. A low-scoring sport, you give out consolation to those that don't lose in regulation. Shouldn't have to suffer the punishment for a loss over a team that couldn't beat you in 60 minutes. I think after 10 minutes, you go to the college 3rd OT and beyond rules. One play, one shot. Alternate between teams until there's a winner. However, the final score wouldn't be marked down at 77-75. Just the winner gets 6 extra points. Or a FG game where you alternate between FG. The winner gets 3 points to prevent the total score ballooning. Of course, in OT, regular rules apply (though I'm not a fan of the new rules, which is a bit hypocritical)

You're not a Pens fan. I think by default, the hate for Philly rivals that of New York. Though I wouldn't bet on it. The Phillies are great, the 76ers are? It's neutral. The Eagles? Same as Phillies, but you can hate them since you'd have to finalize your will before going to Lincoln Financial Field. OTOH, you can respect them since they actually care and can be competitive. Most important, their only Super Bowl win came at the expense of New England in their quest to repeat for the second time. Fuck the Flyers. Just think, in ANY other year in the history of baseball, this (Phillies World Series BOUND) would have never happened. It would never have been a possibility
-
And the Phillis are World Series bound! First NL pennant in 13 years!
-
Speaking of NFL changes that we mentioned earlier in the day, this is something that ought to be changed (to where they're no games that end in a tie)
-
I think if one of Indianapolis' final 10 games ends in a tie, then it's possible (but not probable) that they'd still finish in a tie with Tennessee. It goes by percentage so it's doubtful unless both the Titans & Colts finish at .500

IIRC, he was drafted second overall, not first. So he missed out on everything. Although despite Peyton's awesome career, he missed out on both the Heisman and a National Championship. At least he didn't get snubbed in (appearing in) commercials. I'd agree, but he might not have been awake to be in shock, if you saw No. 12 after the game ended

Win’s a win, baby! They keep fucking over Vegas and I keep loving it. One of the best quotes in all of movies. "Ask any racer. A real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or by a mile. Winning's winning." For the record, there's no almost in sports, much less (NFL) football. It doesn't matter if you win 17-13 or 222-0. 31-30 or 73-0. Winning is winning. Moreso in the pros. In college, depending on the team, it might. In the NFL it's probably never going to come down to that tiebreaker (and if it does, that's still the victim's fault). You have 17 games to make a difference
-
Why do you hate Chris Meyers? During the Steelers games he called, he was (or sounded like he was) rooting for their opponents. Didn't do a great job being neutral while calling football games. It's mild hate. If he's not a fan, that is totally his right. Outside of that, I actually admire & respect the guy. Though not as much as Chris Fowler
-
It's Chris Myers. Despite Fowler not being the one to say it, but Myers being the one to say it, I still love Fowler and still hate Myers. Doesn't mean it wasn't still hilarious though!

Talk about embarrassment but it could be worse. Tom Brady could be Aaron Rodgers; at least the former has done well over the years. Green Bay did just score so they do have a chance to escape, but A-Rod needs to win 6 more superbowls before the end of time to achieve a tie with the GOAT for most as a QB. Sure I made a joke for my picks on purpose, but as a result, my day has been better for doing so (slightly)
-
Technically, some NFC team has to make the Super Bowl this year. That's right. And that NFC team is hosting on America's Game Of The Week in 40 minutes
-
I had to double check to see how they would survive (and still play & win a game in February) without Todd Bowles. I don't think they can kick him out with a game against Baltimore, who Tampa might be looking ahead to. However, if, somehow, Bruce regains the HC spot, they could turn to Larry Foote as the new DC outright. I don't know if they'd put Leftwich in that role. Who knows? I just can't see a team headed by Todd Bowles winning the Super Bowl
-
Maybe San Diego can escape, but then that'll be it for them despite getting whatever NLCS games remain at home. They might have to empty the tank. As mentioned, I'd rather not see Houston beat New York (and the rest of the AL) for nothing. Short of Dusty getting the title, there's not much to root for in terms of the Astros. While Baker winning a ring would be nice, I don't know if I'll have that much interest if, say they sweep the Yankees while the NLCS goes to a Game 7. Shouldn't be too painful since I believe that would give the NL winner a couple days off to rest instead of the nothing the Yankees got

No changes to the Top Six within Week 8 poll. UCLA and Ole Miss losing their undefeated bid led to their fall outside the Top 10 of the AP Poll (12th and 15th, respectively). In terms of SEC teams outside of the Top 15, LSU and South Carolina enter the rankings, with the former reappearing on the poll inside the Top 20. Kentucky is the only team outside of the top teams to remain put from their 19th spot. I haven't seen or heard of a preview show for the College Football Playoff Rankings Show, which would be on Tuesday. However, the first rankings for the CFB Playoff is slated to released one week from Tuesday
-
I'll post the Week 8 Rankings in a minute, since that's around the time they'll be available. In the meantime, here's the Week 7 Rankings. Not much of note except for Alabama & Tennessee swapping places and 3 and 6. If the Coaches Poll is a hint of what's to happen, then Ole Miss will drop somewhat significantly within the AP Poll, as will UCLA and Kansas State, while LSU should be ranked again
