  1. I missed Friday's show but read the comments here with interest (as always). Two minutes in tonight and I said Oh now I get it! And that was before Malibu Barbie told her story. I was rooting for Alex since Hamtramck is very close by but I have to admit Jackie played pretty well. The number of TS surprised me but I wondered if it was just conservative play, especially since I think I heard Jackie say I knew that a couple of times.
  2. I feel old and sad that Up On The Roof was a TS and I very much wish the tune would now leave my head. I guessed correctly at FJ based on limited Star Trek knowledge and Remus and Romulus. On a completely side note Sabre5055, I once met the actor who played Worf - very nice and quite handsome.
  3. Way to go Teebax! In your honor, I pledge to not snark on January 17. Full disclosure, I have a poor track history on New Year's resolutions. 🙄
  4. I am depressed that The Heidi Chronicles was a TS. Wendy Wasserstein was one of my favorite modern playwrights and she died much too young. The NFL would be one of my nightmare FJ catagories (have loyalty to the Lions but don't know much trivia about other teams) but I guessed at the pirate connection.
  5. I was prepared to root for Elizabeth since Pleasant Ridge is nearby but I have an issue with home schooling (admitted personal bias). Felt bad for her when she couldn't buzz in fast enough to get our local weather guy on the Lansing clue and she was gutsy in her DD wagers. I got Traveler (history major at William and Mary) and St. Paul (W&M shares a Christopher Wren link) and was feeling smug about how easy FJ was when I realized St. Andrew was probably easy for others and I had no clue. Sent my ego crashing back to reality.
  6. First they don't complete Denzel, then the Marvin Gaye TS. I just couldn't root for anyone. FJ was an instaget - I remember seeing it at the time and tearing up since I had been in London just a few months before and visited Buckingham Palace.
  7. As a proud Detroiter, I just can't root for people who know the Jonas Brothers but not Aretha's songs. That is all.
  8. My take on Bridget was that she missed the ENGLISH part of English Majors and got perplexed from that point on. She had been doing okay up until then but she seemed to deflate from then on. I always feel bad when the only person who gets FJ right loses. I guessed Hawthorne but had no real idea.
  9. I was so pleased Maya got to give the Emerson answer since it cost her so much last night. All three did well and I am oddly proud of them for not getting the Game of Thrones and House of Cards answers. I agree that Claire might be tightly wound but high school Paris Geller would never have reached out to the other players at the end the way She did. Brava to them all!
  10. Glad for an all girl finals. All very bright. May turn out to be a race to the buzzer. Good luck to all!
  11. Mother Grundoon59 refers to the tv Agatha as the unreal Agatha since she loves the books so much. I am afraid to have her watch Hamish since she loves those books more. Actually looking forward to the finals of the Tournament- the kids have been impressive.
  12. I thought I misheard on Pippa until closed captioning clearly said it. Then they took so long to correct it that I started doubting myself again. I agree Rotimi = young Chidi. Finally I was in my grumpy old lady mode saying why were the asking kids about characters on Fear the Walking Dead and Handmaid's Tale. Making my way to the old folks home now.
  13. Dear SuperCam 1, I realize I may be among those who you view as picking on a kid. I don't see it that way. I recognize her talents and intelligence but feel free to also recognize my irritation at her voice. Snarky? Absolutely! Shitty? Not so much! However I do appreciate your right to view it differently. To me that's part of what I admire and enjoy about this forum.
  14. I too am hoping for high scoring teens for the rest of the Tournament. My cold hearted self can't take much more of the voice, even from a very bright girl. Anyone else wishing for Pippin as the FJ answer? And yes, I know all the words.
  15. I am adding the Play by Picture category to my list of dream categories. I had fun with it. Wasn't really invested in who won but since I am in Maine at the moment, I was kind of rooting for Allen despite the swaying. Going to hide in the corner now.
  16. The quote used for FJ was basically used as a lyric for "Why can't the English?" in My Fair Lady (which is now an ear worm for me) plus Shaw is a favorite playwright - if you ever get the chance, visit the Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake Ontario - so FJ was an instaget for me. Also got Charlotte and rainbow but only came up with that Adam dude for Lambert.
  17. The saddest TS for me was Laurel and Hardy. Long ago when I was in high school, one of my friends had a crush on a guy who started a Sons of the Desert club at our school. She asked me to join with her so it wouldn't be too obvious. Many wonderful viewings of L & H films ensued.
  18. Joining the Tom Lehrer chorus. God his songs are funny and thanks to my parents and their record collection, I learned them much too young. Thanks Mom and Dad! I will miss Rick. Lori's enthusiasm may grate soon but what drove me crazy was her shirt. IRL it wouldn't bother me but on my television screen, it hurt my eyes. Slinking away now to horrible person corner.
  19. I too have missed you all and knew there would be lots of beard opinions expressed. My household is split - I don't care and 94 year old Mother Grundoon hates it. I somehow guessed none of them were going to get invincible but I am so old that I have the album on vinyl. Ye gods, I need to declutter. So nice to be back among friends.
  20. I was unexpectedly out Friday night so missed the last show of the season. I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts and look forward to "seeing" you all in the fall. Happy August to Jeopardy fans everywhere!
  21. Go Dave!!!!!! But even on his last day, Ryan managed to irritate me with his story of carrying the quiz bowl team. Liked Emily but wasn't her day. GBBO is one of my favorites too. I am in awe of what the contestants can do and am impressed at how they help each other even while competing.
  22. Count me in the Robin Ellis is Poldark group but have liked Aiden Turner ever since Being Human (British version).
  23. I was trying to be kind and write off Ryan's smirking attitude as youthful arrogance but I am reaching the end of my patience. The story about his friend saying Ryan was the smartest guy he knew just made me think his friend needs to get out more. Then his blowing on and holstering his weapon before FJ did my head in. It almost drove me to root for inflicting Valley Girl Michelle. Too bad Justin made some bad bets and last minute wrong guesses. Please Jeopardy gods, get Ryan off my screen soon.
  24. Michelle didn't bother me as she did so many here (except for the FJ wagering which was a little nutty throughout). I did like her attitude tonight that win, lose or draw, she had achieved a bucket list item. Although as soon as she said it, I felt the curse of Jeopardy descending upon her. At least she will have advantage of the exchange rate on her winnings. I knew that something had bothered me about Ryan but I forgot it was the puppy story. He can go away any time now.
  25. I was rooting for Wes (although the Lavender answer for Macaroni made it tough). I liked Michelle despite the attempted accent and weird pronunciation of mimeograph [any other mature individuals remember how good they smelled?] She knew Dance Ten, Looks Three also known as the T & A song. She got lucky with the Alexander Graham Bell category since Brantford and Paris are a hop, skip and a jump from Toronto. Finally Prevailing Wind, Bill Sykes' song scared the crap out of me when I was a kid but Oompa Pah is the song stick in my head (with lyrics I shouldn't have know as a kid).
