Yeah it's like if Sansa says something we're supposed to ignore what we saw.The entire season was basically Jon learning more about Dany so that when he bent the knee it was because he truly felt she deserved it.We saw him doubt her and talk to the people who follow her, talk to Dany herself, then saw Tormund even tell him Mance was wrong not to bend the knee and then Dany saves his life at great cost to herself and offer to fight with him still.Reducing that to it was just love as motivation makes sense for Sansa who doesn't know what happened but not for the audience imo.

He brought back 2 dragons and two huge armies giving them a chance for survival.I wouldn't call that a failure in any way. They knew he was lord commander before and that he left even if they don't know the full story and still chose him. They saw his action in the battle of the bastards and didn't have any issues with it,they even proclaimed him the White Wolf who avenged the red wedding.
-
Yeah I get the feeling like they chose him after a big military victory but don't actually respect him.The way they talked to him,I just can't imagine any other ruler sitting by while a kid calls him nothing and the rest basically cheer behind her.Maybe it's because he's a bastard and that stigma still stayed even when he was named king.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

The only way I see Cersei sending the GC to WF so soon is if she really loses it in the next episode.I guess if she has a miscarriage in episode 2 it could push her to just want to kill her enemies. But otherwise its pretty dumb to send the army before she knows that Dany has been weakened. -
Sansa Stark: A Direwolf In Sheep's Clothing?
tangerine95 replied to Carrie Ann's topic in Game Of Thrones
Yeah I've always said,I think Sansa would do a good job as Queen or Warden in times of peace and when things are normal but as a war against the dead, end of the world times leader it would have been a mess. And while Jon has his faults as leader like everyone does,he was pretty much the best choice because he genuinely sees the big picture and has his priorities straight.I don't see Sansa ever getting Dany's army north if her attitude in this episode is any indication. She probably wouldn't have even tried and they would have died independent and I guess very well fed.Maybe they would have preferred that tho lol -
Sansa Stark: A Direwolf In Sheep's Clothing?
tangerine95 replied to Carrie Ann's topic in Game Of Thrones
Yeah I don't see how Jon stripped her of power. He was KiTN and she was acting in his absence according to his orders. Now her position is the same,Lady of WF. If anyone stripped her of some power she could have had it's the northern lords by not choosing her as Queen.Tho imo they did her a favor. As much as she may want power, now is basically the worst time to be the main one in charge since the apocalypse is coming and all that.No one should envy Jon and Dany imo tbh. Also isn't Jon Warden of the North? They didn't exactly say it I guess but I remember they released that letter he sent to Sansa and he signed as warden. -
I'm not actually sure if saying Jon bent the knee when he didn't have because Dany saved him would have helped, maybe it would have just added fuel to the whole he only did it cause she seduced it him thing that a lot of people would be very quick to assume.I just feel like they're so insistent on their hate and not giving her a chance that they wouldn't care even knowing that. I personally would prefer if Jon told the full truth but I feel like it's not that the writers are ignoring it and more that it's a strategy they agreed on to let Jon keep his influence in the north so he can ease the way towards them accepting Dany.Like what Dany meant when she said they'll accept her if their king does. And Tyrion praising Jon instead of Dany was about that,so they trust him and trust his judgement.I do hope Jon tells Arya at least.I would say I hope he tells Sansa too but I'm honestly not sure she'll care as it seems to me that she just resents power being taken from her no matter what kind of person Dany is.
-
Overall I thought it was a pretty good episode with some amazing moments and some dumb drama but I enjoyed it for the most part. Arya and Jon reunion didn't disappoint at all,way better than the leaks made it sound imo.It was so emotional,Kit and Maisie did a great job.My fave Stark reunion like I was hoping it would be.Arya seemed worried that Jon would feel differently if he knew the extent of what she had to do,I hope in one of the episodes she gets to tell him more about it and realize he wouldn't judge her at all.The only thing I hated was the Sansa is smartest line. That was so over the top and actually unearned imo.I felt so bad for Jon in the moment when he said "I'm family too". Apart from that line Arya was great. We really saw a softer, happier version of her.I'm literally surprised at how obviously her and Gendry were flirting.I have way more hope for the ship now than I ever did. Jon and Dany,I loved every moment. It's nice to see them so in love and happy. The dragon riding scene was pretty funny actually.I also loved Jon defending Dany to Sam and Sansa.I get why he didn't tell people she didn't require he bend the knee,I don't think it would have made anything better. The Cersei Euron stuff wasn't as bad as I was expecting,I'm glad they didn't show the sex scene.I actually felt bad for her at the end but she brought everything on herself. Sansa was annoying me so much.Like Dany said she doesn't have to be friends with her but she needs to show basic respect. She was so obviously bitter and disrespectful. That can only create issues because it shows everyone this alliance isn't strong enough.Sansa being so obviously against Dany and Jon gives the other lords someone high up who is on their side and that creates conflict just like it did when she half heartedly "defended" Jon to the lords.I don't see how that's being smart at all.I did like the Sansa and Tyrion scene tho. The Sam and Dany scene was good.Dany was honest and I thought she explained it well and John Bradley sold the performance. But I hated how Sam told Jon about his parentage. He was being selfish imo and pushing his own agenda instead of thinking about Jon and how he'll take it.Plus creating conflict in a very necessary alliance.Jon's response was great tho.I liked that he pointed out that he executed men for disobeying him and that he didn't ask the free folk to bend the knee because he wasn't king.I think he gets Dany's position because he's been in it unlike Sam.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
tangerine95 replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
Yeah I really agree.People act like it's either worship Dany which is the unreasonable reaction or hate her so much they go behind Jon's back and plot against her while she's helping which is understandable lol.I feel like something in between would have been the more human and reasonable reaction. The way the interviews make it sound is so over the top imo. -

I mean it's nice to be a leader and all and I get she would enjoy it after so much of her life was in the control of others but are you really a leader people need rn if unless someone else comes with their resources and saves you then you will die. Sounds to me like at least two people will go behind Jon's back to push him into a power struggle with someone he loves and who is a lot more powerful.Tbh can't wait for WF to burn down, and I can't believe I feel that way lol. -

I can totally see Sam publicly revealing Jon's parentage because I don't believe Jon will do what Sam wants and try and get Dany to bend the knee.If they already decided to make him that upset over Dickon,it's imo probably so he'll be the one to push the rightful heir thing since Jon isn't the type to.I never would have thought Sam would do that but after that interview where John Bradley says Sam can be manipulative when he thinks he's right and he's done it before to Jon,it sort of makes sense tbh. -

Don't they have scouts for this kind of stuff?I mean the show plays it kinda loose with that but still I'm pretty sure they do.They also have Bran who is tracking the NK.If Jon and Dany left I'm pretty sure they got info that it's safe.If the show wanted us to see them as irresponsible for this then they probably would have faced some consequences and not just come back with nothing happening.Kinda like when Robb left on a totally pointless trip with Talisa and came back to Jaime escaping. That were were meant to see as a problem.I seriously doubt anyone north will be commenting on them leaving for such a short time.If anything they'll be talking about Jon riding a dragon which is a huge deal. Tbh imo this is kinda nitpicking. And I doubt the GA will tear them to shreds over one scene that has zero negative consequences.Imo the people that will look dumb will be the ones bothering to play political games and reject the person that brought the dragons and the armies. -

Going away for a few hours isn't escaping his responsibilities. If they had actually stayed at that waterfall then sure but they clearly come back. I'm sure Jon had done whatever he needed to do before they left,I don't see any reason to doubt that.Like is any form of interaction with other people that isn't focused on the AOTD wasting time?Like if he spends time reuniting with Arya or idk at Ned's statue in the crypts.I doubt anyone can do that. -

I don't think it's a big deal they go on a dragon ride or make them look stupid. From the leaks it doesn't seem to cause any issues and it was like a few hours. They're human and in a difficult situation with almost everyone against them,I don't think it's so horrible they take a short break when they do have the time.Plus it's definitely not worthless to know that Jon can ride a dragon,it can help a lot in battle and possibly keep Rheagal from ending up an undead dragon. -

Yeah I don't think it's worse than anything we've seen others use.I guess the problem is people who connect it to the mad king and it's bad PR for Dany apparently lol.But any Targ who had a dragon used it to deal with enemies.Aegon the conqueror especially and he's considered a great man in Westeros. I honestly don't believe the dragonfire is the problem. If she let the Dothraki cut of their heads the reaction from the characters in the show and the audience out of it would have been the same imo. -

I'm just disappointed about them making the Tarly stuff important in this way.No even just because of the hypocrisy or misogynistic undertones but also because the moment of Jon parentage is huge and it sounds like they're gonna center it around two pretty much irrelevant characters overall and Sam's anger at Dany.I have zero worry about it blowing over and getting resolved with Jon and Dany remaining allies and a couple,Sam accepting Dany by the end but imo it should have never been used for this drama because it can't carry and justify it logically. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
tangerine95 replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
The Sam thing gets more and more annoying imo.Not really the fact that he's upset, that scene with Dany sounds good. But the reveal with Jon I'm honestly not getting.Apparently he tells Jon who is shocked because he didn't know. Then asks him if he'd do that and Jon says no but he's not king which is when Sam tells him he is which sounds like the worst way to break this to Jon.First I think it's stupid to say that when neither was there and Dany doesn't seem to tell Sam the details. If Jon had a enemy soldier who insulted him and refused every option given and another enemy soldier who wanted to die as well and wouldn't reconsider when asked to then he wouldn't execute them.I seriously doubt that considering Jon killed a man for refusing an order and wouldn't show mercy even when the guy begged. Then the idea that Jon bent the knee for his people so Dany will bend the knee to him because he's a Targ?Jon basically says when they first meet that he doesn't care about her father or her claim but now she's supposed to bend the knee for his.I really hope Dany doesn't do that.He bend the knee because she literally lost a dragon to save him and his men. -

Jon riding a dragon seems even stranger than I expected, like the way it happens. The way this person described it it's like they want to go make out,Dany says just get on the dragon and that's it lol.I mean don't mind tbh,but I figured if they weren't going to mention needing Targ blood,at least they'll go with Rheagal needs a rider to not get killed. It's cute that Jon seems to like it so much. -

I think show Jon also had ambitions and wanted to lead.In season 1 he was upset about becoming the Lord Commander's steward until San points out he's grooming him for command one day.I also remember Mormont asking Jon if he wants to lead and Jon confirmed he did.He also seemed pretty glad to be chosen as LC.Imo he did want leadership positions but when he got them it was such horrible and extreme situations all the time that anyone would get tired of it.And to make it worse he literally got killed.I can't blame him for wanting to leave everything behind tbh. -

I really can't imagine the NK is dealt with in 3 episodes and one battle after all the build up.Imo no way that happens.I believe the AoTD will reach KL and that will be the final battle. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
tangerine95 replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
I am so ready for the Dany angst. It makes sense because she's dealing with more personal stuff than she has in a while.I mean there's Jon and his parentage,Viserion being undead and her having to be the one to kill him, being rejected by the north, just the general fear of fighting an army of the dead, her likely pregnancy. If Friki is right then she'll go through a betrayal from Tyrion and she'll very likely lose a lot of her army, probably people close to her like Jorah and maybe even all her dragons by the end. There's a lot of stuff to deal with and imo it makes sense if she's more vulnerable and emotional than the past few seasons.I don't think it will make her weak or less able to be a leader so I'm not worried about it seeming like that. I really hope they focus on the emotional aspect of everything she and Jon as well will be going through and that it doesn't get lost in all the action and battles. -

Jon brooding in front of the Iron Throne would be iconic and I need it to happen lol I feel like they definitely have the dragons post WF battle.I think that would be too soon to lose them and they're needed for the KL battle. -

I think it's more likely Jon,Dany and the survivors go to Dragonstone after the battle of WF.I don't see why Jon and Dany would go alone tho I guess with the dragons they could go and return pretty easily. That scene looks so angsty tho,I can't wait. He's really turned up the brooding to levels higher than ever before. And he seems to be doing it in multiple locations all around WF lol -
If she did actually die in the flashforwards that would make me think they will change the future with the crisis crossover.Maybe it's naive but I honestly don't believe they'll give Oliver and especially Felicity a tragic ending.
-
I don't get why not just end at 7.Their male and female lead were out.Are those 10 eps they convinced Stephen to do for the crossover?like keep arrow going so they can do crisis.I'm definitely not watching,Dinah and Rene eat up enough time as it is.I'm guess it's only about to get worse.Unless it's like half the show is flashforwards.
