Didn't Tres already have sex with Vanessa? He kicked out the film crew, puts his hand over the lens and put up the "Do not disturb" sign. I thought that was supposed to mean sex.

Makes me believe what was written in the spoiler thread - not really a spoiler so I'll repost it here:

A. Tres looks like he put on some weight. B. A quick search of KY's insurance database shows that his insurance status is: So, he only lived in Ky for less than 2 months? I guess the insurance career didn't work out... -

Ashley's mom is saying things like this: A. Yes, I would expect to see some smiles. David was nervous, he was still smiling. B. Maybe she should get some examples of how Ashley was trying to make the marriage work and how all of those things were edited out. Surely she can cite dozens. -
My girlfriend said he looked like a terrorist.

Based purely on looks from video (none of the shopped wedding photos) Ashley - 4.75 (Unattractive and already aging poorly) Sam - 5 (Aging slightly better but chubby) Vanessa - 6.5 (Was higher until I saw her cry-face and with no makeup, chubby, but amazing boobs)

I'd be interested in hearing women's take on the men. Rate them 1-10.
-
I believe they said it was because he was outgoing and patient and kind and it would offset her reserved personality. In other words, they thought it would be great to have a man spend his entire life trying to entertain, support and be considerate of a cold fish who never reciprocates. If Sam shows any progress it's all editing. She's 30, she's not going to change. Even having a man strong enough to shut down her insults isn't changing her, it's just working within the constraints of her stunted and damaged personality.

This works if your friend's name is Kate Upton. The girls on this show have to know that they are barely average in looks...but they don't. It comes down to self-awareness. Not having any is a modern plague. Raising a daughter to be an American princess special snowflake isn't doing her any favors. The guys have their own problems. Neil is the male equivalent of a special snowflake - he's so in love with his own quirks that he's unwilling to change to get what he claims to want...a wife and family. David is awesome if he'd drop about 30 pounds, hit the gym and occasionally stopped fawning over Ashley. It's embarrassing and feeds her snowflake delusion. Both of them need to show some backbone. They do this. It's not the actual contestants, but both men and women go through books of standardized graded people - yes it exists - and they choose whether or not they find anyone attractive. Some start to consider people attractive at 4, some at 8. I'm guessing they eliminate people who are only attracted to 9+s.
-
Vanessa has an unfortunate cry-face. She's not nearly as attractive without makeup but you look down and it's like Nirvana. Joking aside, maybe Ashley's brain surgery caused a problem. She seems to pause before answering even the most basic questions. I'm pretty sure I'd let her study while I went out and enjoyed Sedona. And she said she was in A relationship that lasted 9 years and didn't get married - she's not kidding when she says it takes time to warm up to someone. Then she has the nerve to say that she's "trying her best." If this is her best, there's no way I'd stick around. I might stick it out for the cameras, no need to poison my reputation around town, but it would be effectively over. Sam: Now do you see why they matched us? Neil: (Should have said) So you can be a raving bitch as much as you want and still have me around for when your mistakes almost end in catastrophe? I stand firm on my earlier comments about Sam.
-
I think Ryan would have been a better match for Sam.
-
The best possible move? Sam: "I don't find you physically attractive." Neil: (throws up his hands) "Done!" (walks out). Alternately, he could have said just about anything. "That's fine, I don't find you attractive either." "I'm curious what the experts think you could bring to a marriage." "I can see why you've had trouble finding a husband." "You're a little old to be so picky." or, more subtly, "You're 30, right? Hmmm." They all would have led to a massive fight, but the choice is either leave with some dignity intact or be her doormat. Again, if his calm talk works in the long term, I'll eat my words.
-
So, if the roles were reversed and she was the one having to stick up for herself, would she be a misandrist? Of course not. And yes, I would never let her insults stand without returning some of my own. I wouldn't calmly stand there while she showed no respect or basic decency. If that's enough to be called misogyny these days, then so be it. And, if his calm talk magically turns her into a respectful, kind human being for longer than a few episodes, I'll take it all back.
-
It's exactly victim blaming. I blame Neil for tolerating her behavior. Doesn't make her less of a bytch, just saying that there is a way to get people like her under control. And every minute he doesn't do that rewards her and encourages her behavior. It would be exhausting, but some people enjoy the challenge. For some people, taming a shrew would be a badge of honor - to mix literary references.
-
I blame Neil for some of her behavior. She started Shyt-testing him almost immediately and he just took it. No come back, no reaction other than passive agreement. With people like Sam, that's an open invitation to keep escalating. I doubt she'd be acting nearly as bad if Neil had been firm with her in the beginning. And it's not like he wasn't warned. There's no way I would stay with her - she has no redeeming qualities or looks to offset the attitude - but, if I stayed for the honeymoon, I definitely wouldn't have let her comments pass.
-
Not committed? The dude married her. How much more of a commitment could she expect? If she wanted an extended courtship, during which Tres proved his undying fidelity, she should have signed up for a different show. At this point, she either follows through with her marriage - and that includes a physical relationship - or not. But the dude has already shown more commitment to her than any other man in her life.
-
If she wants to hold out on sex she signed up for the wrong game show. Only time that worked was with that chump Doug in S1 - no way Tres is waiting longer than 10 days.
-
That would mean that the "experts" are just quacks who can't diagnose a very obvious mental condition. That can't possibly be the case. No way in hell Davina was going to wear even a 1920s swimdress.
-
I'm thinking the honeymoon location has something to do with people's body issues. If you don't want to be seen in a bathing suit on TV, they won't send you to a beach. I doubt it's much more complicated than that. Also: Neil should have told Sam he doesn't find her attractive either. I would have loved to see how understanding she'd be. Vanessa let some crazy show. She sounds like the girl who asks if you're ready for marriage on the first date. I've dated women like her and, if you say the right (or wrong?) things, they get freakishly attached very quickly. One turned stalker after we broke up. Ashley is boring and she needs to wax that lip. Tres doesn't seem genuine to me. Like he's always looking for the right thing to say, rather than what's on his mind. David is a cool dude who's about the most normal guy on the show. I have 6 friends like him and they've all made great husbands and fathers.
-
If I was Neil, I'd bail and immediately go slap the "experts" for thinking Sam would be wife material for anyone. If Sam's 30 and has been unsuccessfully looking for a husband for a while now, it probably means she has some serious problems. Things that should have been obvious during their "exhaustive" vetting process. I could have told them as much during a 30 second conversation. Her family was saying variations of it during the wedding. Neil must need the money - there's no other reason to stay.
-
If I was a dude on the show and my new wife acted the way some of these women act, I'd bail before the first dance. If I'm trying to have a talk with my new wife and, when asking her questions, she just stares at me in silence, my reaction wouldn't be nearly as kind and understanding as David. Hopefully, the impression I'm getting is the result of producers editing the scene to manufacture drama. Also, Dr. Logan's vocal fry is reaching insane levels.
-
I think it would be interesting to ask the question like this. "Give an example of the type of person you could attract." I think you'd hear some wildly exaggerated expectations. I noticed the chicken thing. Very odd.
-
So far Vanessa is the only one who seems remotely like wife material. Ashley is dead inside. Sam is a lunatic. Why do the "experts" insist on pairing normal guys with problem women? They say that Ashley is reserved (a massive understatement) so they pair her with a guy who will be patient. Great for her, bad for him. Sam needs someone who isn't a pushover or she'll run over him - that's another way of saying that she's boorish and selfish and a man will have to fight with her over everything - so they pair her with Neil? He's the definition of a pushover. What do these women bring to the marriage other than difficult personalities? Vanessa is the only one to at least talk about what she wants to do for a husband.

Dr. C: "There were no generalizations made to other populations or claims or implications that our experience should be extrapolated to larger groups." Paul: "Do you honestly believe that the fact you had a hard time finding black men to go on a dating reality show suggests there is some shortage of black men interested in dating and marrying black women?" I have to agree with Dr. C for once. He specifically answered and said the opposite of Paul's question, yet Paul seems focused on sticking to his straw man. All the clip shows is that a good percentage of black men who applied for the show didn't want black women and the "experts" found that surprising. Does he think the producers are modifying the clip to make them say something they didn't say? Does he think they're lying - that it wasn't a theme among the applicants? If Paul doesn't like the way the applicants responded, take it up with them. -
If I was in the market for high-end furniture and saw that mural, I might just keep driving. If I can't imagine it in my home, it shouldn't be associated with the showroom. Maybe a painting in an office, but that's it. And I'd be mad as hell if my neighboring business put up something like that. Also, was the younger blonde Stevie's sister or girlfriend? If she was family - and she looks a lot like the mom - why wasn't she featured at all?
