  1. Ugh! I appreciate Donny trying to be more direct, but i think he really has to present a "full" alternative plan for Cody to bite. You can't just say "its time to play Big Brother! Make a big move!" without giving someone like Cody a specific alternate plan. Not just an option "Derrick has never been on the block" but an alternative plan that he could visualize executing "if you put derrick up, he's going to be pissed, but here's how you rationalize it...here's how you get votes to get him out...you'd have my vote, could you swing a vote from Frankie and Christine? I could work on Caleb....etc." He needs to help Cody visualize something he could actually execute. He also needs to be talking more openly about the final two. "Who do you want to be sitting next to? Derrick could sit next to pretty much anyone left in this house and probably win...etc". I think that's where Derrick has excelled. He has had final two scenarios that he could win in his head since very early in the game. It doesn't seem like anyone else is even thinking about final 2 and the jury vote.
  2. I'm right there with you. I even find it fascinating watching my friends' and my interaction with the show as the season progresses. I dont watch the feeds but i check this board every few hours. Check jokers a few times a day. I get so beholden to this show. It's all pretty fascinating.
  3. Donny may be immune to it because he's older and never really been part of a group in the house. If he were in a group he may have gotten more sucked into that style of interacting. He didn't have any issues sitting around commenting about Christine and Cody being inappropriate and I think someone mentioned him calling Amber a jezebel once while commiserating with Caleb. Those weren't horrible things to say in the context of the house but i'd bet they are more negative and gossipy than things Donny would normally say about someone outside of the house.I think if you're confined in a small space with folks who tend to skew to the negative it gets easy to skew that way with them. If you're not interacting with them much, you may not ever get into the cycle of talking that way. Also, I think having a common enemy with someone can also pull folks into that kind of interaction. They start bonding over how much they dislike someone. Donny hasn't really had anyone close enough to bond with that way over a common target.
  4. Lol This is what I love about Liam. He's a beta male through and through. He needs a nice, warm, loving home as opposed to a bachelor pad. It's a nice contrast with Wyatt who's a total alpha type. Liam will make a great dad one day but he's not a convincing romantic lead for me. Say what you will about Wyatt but he gets ish done when it comes to knowing when to pounce on Hope. No hesitation. This is Hope in a nutshell. She's not a 3-dimensional character like others on the show. She's a princess. Wyatt shows up, Liam didn't, so Wyatt gets to keep her. She genuinely believes Liam ditched her which imo illustrates how little she thinks of Liam. I loved Bill and Liam's scenes. I wish we could get one of those every day. Just a random scene of Bill yelling at Liam telling him to get himself together. Love that alpha Bill got stuck with a soft son like Liam. They are really great together. Oh and I love Liam when he's not with Hope. Even though he's currently the Liam of Infinite Sadness *silent cross* he's so much more tolerable for me when he's away from her.
  5. Donnie is a G. That's all. Actually one more thing- Christine got a pretty bad edit tonight. 'twas nice.
  6. Hey guys! Delurking to ask about the Christine and Cody situation. For those of you that have watched previous seasons and feeds (I'll admit that I can only tolerate this show every other year or so) has something like this happened before and did the broadcast show air it? Someone way up thread mentioned this happening on a previous season and ultimately the married woman left her husband and got into porn. Was her flirting shown on the show? I'm curious if the show editors put this into a category where airing or making mention of it could be so detrimental to Christine's life outside of the house that they'll avoid airing it. Kind of how some of the more abhorrent things said last year weren't aired (but still led to people losing or getting reprimanded by their jobs).
  7. I'm fairly certain that with her Australian background a dingo will in fact steal their baby, causing a mourning Liam to return to Hope.
  8. Welp it's official, I'm now team Livey (does that name work for everyone?). They even have this great story to tell the grand kids about how they got together when he saved her life in Paris! Romantic! Lol Seriously lol I'm excited about this. We'll probably get a big confrontation (you didn't show up! You left! You said you'd be there! I saved a life and Wyatt took you! Etc) and several months of Wype, a blossoming Livey, and a lurking Quinn. Wash rinse repeat. Good times. And we have further proof of just how Hope is overly portrayed as a princess the last two shows. We had Deacon, Brooke, and Aly going on ad nauseuam about how great Hope is. If that isn't character propping I don't know what is. I need the show to SHOW me not tell me. It's too much to ask, I know, but I refuse to give these writers credit for something they refuse to show me. LittleIggy, I actually sighed a breath of relief when Liam and Ivy swam to shore. I mean I'm happy no one died but I was really relieved that now Liam will get some peace from the insanity that is Lope and Quinn's meddling.
  9. Thanks for this tidbit RuntheTable. I noticed her and remembered her being Mac. Man she's smoking hot. Much hotter than Hope lol.
  10. Well there we have it folks. Liam ain't about that life. Lol He hesitated. Ivy is all "Dude I got this. Go! I can swim, I'm good!" And Liam hesitated lol. Either Hope is the most important thing to you or she isn't. I understand that this is all about a fairytale romance but when I find myself stuck in traffic and getting close to being late I'm going to put all the surprise aside and send a quick "see you soon" text. That way I'm covered if I don't make it right at 3 o'clock. That's just me though. I haven't had 6 failed engagements and a history of horrid communication issues though so whatever. I did have a hearty guffaw at Aly telling Brooke this will be Hope and Liam's most romantic moment ever. Oh honey. Lol Oh and Ridge being musty is the funniest most accurate description I've seen in while. Lmao I'm saying! And didn't they pass a no headscarf law over there in France to shade female Muslims? Quinn looked insane even on the plane and no one batted an eyelash.
  11. Hey ya'll? I kind of love Quinn now. She's freaking hilarious. lol I wish they had given her an actual mustache to twirl after she revealed herself behind that newspaper.
  12. No! Liam needed time to dish with his girlfriends before making a decision! lol I swear he needs a good impartial guy friend. Someone to say "dude either piss or get off the pot and please stfu about this." Where is Bill? lol This is the other issue with Lope. They are hella quick to run to other people when they have a disagreement. Their relationship becomes a community issue as opposed to two people as a single until working together to make the relationship work. Childish.
  13. See I thought Oliver was closer to Hope's age. I thought the PoiseBoink was at her highschool graduation party but he was only a few years older than her. I've been viewing Rick is in his late 30's now. He has to be old enough to be Hope's parent. I think the Hope sorasing really threw Brooke and Ricks ages for a loop. Amber is who all the boys go to for hookups and sowing oats. It's kind of her thing (Rick, Thomas, Daniel, Marcus, Oliver). I definitely like her in doses but not when she's eating the show.
  14. Lmao at that spoiler. I mean... Yeah. Lol My issue with Amber is she's getting a little long in the tooth to be paired with the younger set. I thought it was a stretch having her messing around with Liam and Oliver last go round. Plus she's got a small child and if we go by story ages she's literally old enough to be Hope's mother. I had issues with her being paired with the younger group on Y&R too. She was one of my favorite characters back in the day but that was like 15 years ago. At what point does Amber grow up? It'd be fun if they brought her back and she latched on to someone like Carter. The history with baby daddy Marcus could make that interesting.
  15. This. I think the problem with all of this for me is it assumes very little of me as a viewer. There is so much smart television at my disposal nowadays. Daytime soaps aren't the only thing on tv anymore. I watch all manner of shows that have romance and zany plots yet somehow still manage to have smart, unexpected writing that isn't repetitive and doesn't belittle me as a viewer. I mean maybe from their standpoint, this type of story is their bread and butter and they have to stick to it but it's just frustrating how it eats the show. I've been watching B&B since I was 10 or 11 so I've seen this show do love stories much better than Lope. And enough with squandering these beautiful location shoots!! Lol
  16. There was a quote Michael Jackson had in the movie This Is It! where he was talking to one of his band members about not changing a riff or sound up too quickly. He said you have to "nourish" your audience. The thinking being you need to hit folks with an enjoyable moment and let them eat and get full on that moment for a while before you change it up. When you finally do change it up it'll be more impactful. I always think about that and the problems I have with relationships on B&B comes down to the writers not "nourishing" relationships long enough. The reason Brill seems to be working is because they've been building for a while now. I feel invested in them and want them to find their way through this current Ridge mess. But they are the anomaly. Bill Bell was a master at this back in the day.
  17. I hear you and understand what youre saying meow but we'll just have to agree to disagree. You're right, this is a soap. It is an escape. Attraction has everything to do with it for me. I spend a half hour every day with these characters. They better be sexy, romantic, smart and attractive to me otherwise I'll stop watching. Liam and Hope as a couple are just don't do it for me. They are never together long enough for me to be invested in them. The constant breaking up, reconnecting and breaking up again isn't attractive. It's repetitive and boring. You bring up the characters only doing what the writers create and you're absolutely right. I genuinely trust this set of writers because they've made the show pretty enjoyable for me for the last several months. So I feel that Lope as its been written at this point is either the writers just toying with me as a viewer (which if so, after 4 years, is pretty crappy of them) or the writers are trying to make a point about how wrong Liam and Hope are for each other. They aren't a fairytale they are a tragic comedy. If I take that position, then all of their failings make perfect sense to me. The highlight of Liam and Hope for me was the Italy wedding. It was a beautiful location shoot. They overcame some obstacles, Bill was eventually supportive, and steffy was mostly out of the way. But that marriage was falling apart the very next week. Why would the writers do that? The writers aren't incompetent. They know how to write an interesting, fulfilling love story. We've pretty much been watching one with Brill for the last year even if you include the aborted wedding a few weeks ago. They aren't writing one for Lope on purpose. I really don't believe they want me to root for this pairing.
  18. I think the problem with Lope for me is, okay I get that these are star-crossed lovers but I just require more than this to be invested. I require better storytelling. More convincing acting. Smarter characters. More sexual chemistry. More romance. The great Lope romance consists of no more than a week at a time of stability, a boatload of flashbacks to that one preceding moment or week of stability, horrible horrible horrible! communication skills and constant outside interference. What about that should be appealing to me? They've had six failed engagements. They've only been on the show for like 4 years. I mean I get it, this is a soap and adversity is what it's all about but there isn't enough appealing to me about Lope to make me invested in them after 6 failed engagements. They aren't cute enough, hot enough or interesting enough. Say what you want about Liam and Steffy but they had loads of grown-up chemistry (hell, they made a baby together!). Wyatt and Hope had loads too. Yes, we can go back and parse through all that happened that led up to each of those failed engagements (Liam didn't know!! Hope didn't hear!! Steffy/bill/Brooke/Taylor/Quinn/Wyatt interfered! Othello saw!! Gondola! Email! Hopeforthefuture!) but in real life those are just excuses. If it were important for them to be together forever, they would be. People who are committed to something make things happen for themselves if they truly want it to happen. There's a reason Rick and Caroline have so many shippers. They're hot and they made a decision to be together and haven't been derailed by any interference attempts since making that decision. That's how mature, committed relationships work. I care about them because they care and are consistent with each other. As a viewer i also know the writers care about them and aren't just toying with me. I mean I give it to the OG triangle of doom. Ridge, Brooke and Taylor were all really attractive and had loads of chemistry. His waffling was exhausting but I got drawn in to the merry-go-round because the characters were appealing, had substantial stretches of stability and the romance and motivations were somewhat believable. Somewhat. But the writers have seemingly got off of the Bridge train for a reason. It's exhausting and the payoff began to give diminishing returns after each new iteration. That's how I feel about Lope.
  19. #6 Quinn brings Steffy to see Liam as he's getting dressed for the wedding to tell him she can have kids afterall. Hope sees this and runs. Good lord this couple is a nightmare. Why do they keep trying??
  20. This. Liam has chemistry with pretty much everyone on canvas but I have never felt overwhelming romantic passion between him and Hope. I understand that she's supposed to be his "one", but compared to their other pairings, they've just always seemed dull to me. Sweet but dull. I've also noticed that the writers have made it a point to show Wyatt and Hope having tons of sexual chemistry. I'm by no means a Wyatt and Hope fan, but I recall she couldn't keep her pants on around him. The main story I remember about Lope from a sexual standpoint was how underwhelmed she was when she lost her virginity to him. I mean, in the real world, sex is only part of the equation but, on this soap opera sexual chemistry is always a really big deal. I'm not accustomed to questioning whether or not its there. I can't just pretend that I don't enjoy him so much better with other people. Katie, Bill, Quinn. Hell, I remember a hilarious scene with Pam from maybe a year ago when she was helping him track down proof that Quinn had emailed Hope the Steffi video (again, Liam, wtf?!?). He's a great actor. I'm just exhausted with the Lope merry-go-round. There is no "there" with them. They never get to their happily ever after. I often wonder if the actors (SC and KM) are themselves exhausted with the merry-go-round and as a result they end up putting more energy into their scenes with other characters. Just my speculation.... And maybe this is all just PTSD after 20 years of the Brooke/Ridge/Taylor triangle. It's a ride we've been riding so long I just refuse to do it again. Lope feels like 20 more years of agitation waiting in the wings. Thats whats so exciting about Brill (and Brooke and Ridge having no chemistry right now)- I'm hopeful that it means we can finally get off of that exhausting ride.
  21. Yep and this is just what Liam and Hope do. Lol Like, it's hilarious because every time they reunite they'll get a few hours, days or weeks together and without a doubt some "misunderstanding" will happen and they'll be sent into a crisis of some type. This is why, although I generally adore Liam as a character I'll probably never be a Lope fan. I can just never get comfortable betting on a happily ever after for them. I think part of the problem, which I noticed yesterday, is Liam gets way too familiar with other women too quickly. Just watching him interact with Ivy gave me a bit of pause. He had some similar interactions with Ally a while back. I wouldn't call it flirtation, but he's just got this feminine energy that makes him wanna be bffs with girls which ends up putting him into bad situations. This is what got him into trouble with Steffi ("sure bestie, ill go clubbing with you the night before my wedding!"). Its not so much that he puts himself in compromising situations, it's that he gives women comfort to pull him into those predicaments ("sure ex wife, I'm about to get married, but come on in so we can catch up!"). Like, I get that Ivy likes him and feels comfortable with him which is fine, but now she feels some kinda way about seeing Hope and Wyatt together? If she didn't have that insta-friendship with Liam, she wouldn't have felt anything at all about seeing Wyatt and Hope together because she really doesn't know any of them yet. Regarding Ridge, I see a lot of propping with how no one is calling him out for how idiotic he's been acting. Hes basically been acting an ass since his return, snarling and sucker punching folks (look here homeboy, you got one more time to sucker punch someone...) and no one has called him out on how maniacal he's been acting. I see all of that propping, however, the writers don't seem to be doing anything to prop Kridge. As a couple they seem insufferable. There's little romance or planning for their future. It's all about Katie whining or them talking about Brill. I just don't understand what's going on there. I can't see any way the writers want me to root for this pairing while they've been building a love story for Brill for quite some time now. Ahh yes that's a great point.
