Cosigning everyone who thought the last few days have been really good tv. I really like that the show has been slowly unraveling the secret. It feels good to see things actually happening kind of like a pressure cooker slowly releasing steam. Some shows *glares at Y&R* don't seem to understand that too many secrets held for too long cause frustration instead of intrigue. When you drag it out too long you've lost so much enthusiasm that the reveal lands with a thud instead of a boom. I like that nearly every day someone new is finding out. I even loved Charlie figuring it out because you know, why not? Lol There's still enough drama that when Rick finally does find out it'll be pretty rewarding, but it won't have been painful as a viewer waiting to get there. My biggest curiosity right now is wondering who is going to have an off color reaction to Maya's secret. I feel like someone has to do it but am worried that with GLAADs involvement with the show everyone is going to react to the secret in an ideal way, not a realistic way. I think with social issues there's always a fear by writers of throwing a character under the bus. I'm hoping they'll let Dollar Bill be that guy since he's written like a brute half the time. As of now everyone has reacted the exact same way, which makes me nervous. Someone needs to do it. This isn't a fairytale, it's a soap. Someone has the be tacky and over the top.

Petunia, i was trying to think a few days ago who my favorite character on this show was. I was struggling to come up with a single person. Then i realized that most of my favorite scenes over the last few years had Liam in them (Bill with Liam, especially). Then i realized that none of those scenes involved Hope. I realized that i do in fact like Liam, i just hate him with Hope. And i don't hate Hope... I just hate her with...everyone. :/ And more kudos from me for the acting from Maya and her sis on todays show. Loved the dialogue (may watch it again later today) especially when Maya ran down all of the standard questions and comments that are flung at her. That hit home for me.

I think I'm okay with it being a last minute storyline change, as long as they follow it all the way through (ie fully explain her story, what happened with the baby, treat the transgendered aspect of her character with respect etc) . I'm not opposed to soaps throwing me for a loop with a nearly unbelievable surprising twist. As long as it's fully fleshed out Im usually a fan of it. I mean if the goal was to make Maya instantly more interesting they definitely did that. And kudos to them for keeping this plot completely under wraps. Didn't hear any spoilers and that made this hit like an earthquake. I think KM speaking out in the press about the story is a good sign. It holds her accountable and I think it holds the writers accountable as well. I get the vibe they would love nothing more than to be receiving GLAAD awards for this storyline next year lol. Regarding Rick not noticing any physical differences I'm consigning what others said about hormones => breasts. One thing ive learned from dating women is that they're all built a little differently. Plus even if she did have implants (I can confirm nowadays there is very little scaring) it's highly likely Rick has dated women with implants before in Bell-A. I'm also certain he's like his mother who isn't able to notice small differences between the fleshy parts of different partners. Im sure a fleshy hole is a fleshy hole for him. Lol

*delurking* Hey y'all just decided to write down my thoughts on this since other than the Empire finale it's been the most exciting part of my day. My mother sent me a shocked text message as it aired. Lol So here's what I think. I think I'm going to give the writers the benefit of the doubt on this one. It's 2015 and the beauty of this is that now people will organize and drag the hell out of people for doing offensive things. If this storyline is stereotypical or handled badly I really get the impression that Twitter alone will let the world know. This winter I watched my and other black sororities completely shut a VH1 show down in a couple of months just by tweeting to sponsors. Does this storyline have to become a dead end for the Maya character? Could this actually end up being a story about how normal of a life a trans woman could have if everyone chilled the hell out and treated her as normal? Could this be the thing that humbles Rick? If Eric Forester II must sire heirs maybe he and Maya break up at a later time for other reasons. Maybe they'll bring on some non-legacy character to date her and she can ride off into the sunset with him like they do most non-legacy characters. I'm a little bummed we probably won't be getting any little brown legacy heirs for the Raya pairing but I'm used to all manner of long term maladies happening to minority characters on these Bell shows (Tony-AIDS, Hector-blind, Neil- blind, Devon- deaf, Lily-barren). I'm just not convinced that being trans means Maya becomes radioactive because I know that doesn't always have to be the case in real life. Sometimes the guy sticks with the trans girl. I've heard at least two different stories of swimmer Michael Phelps having dated trans women. I think of Janet Mock who is a pretty stunning transwoman and activist who seems normal as hell and has a long term male partner. So imo the biggest issue here (and biggest plot point I'm hoping they resolve) is the baby given up for adoption. Could Maya have been the biological father of that child? Laverne Cox's twin brother played her character pre-transition on Orange is the New Black- could Myron have assumed the identity of a twin sister who died who was the child's mother? Just trying to brainstorm ideas I would pursue if I were taking on the challenge of telling this story. I don't know how this will turn out but I'm hoping for the best and believing that if they give us the worst they will most definitely hear about it. Also want to add I thought the actresses playing maya and her sister did a great job today.

Yeah maybe repentant is too strong of a word. I think, from a business standpoint, he'll end up regretting how he went about this. I have a hard time seeing how Ridge and Caroline are just going to shut up and go along with Rick and Maya as their bosses after this. They aren't legally bound to work there. Most of the FC success as of late has hinged on Caroline being involved. If she leaves (or is depressed/embarrassed/vengeful etc) FC won't be as successful. I think Rick will have regrets at that point. But hell, maybe Maya will end up as more than just a Lead Model™ and can design as well. lol Could Rick have achieved the same goal (total control of FC) while being straight up/honest with Eric about the state of his marriage? I don't think Eric will ever stop meddling in his sons relationships. Maybe thats just how crazy ridiculous this family will always be and this was the only way for Rick to get this done. Are Ivy and Liam having sex yet? I guess its none of my business really, but its a soap. Whats going on there? lol

Agreed but i think the difference between Nick and Rick is that Rick at least owns what he is doing. He's been pretty consistent in saying this was all about Caroline's "betrayal". It's a childish, overreaction but it makes sense to me. We also haven't been watching him get propped by other characters on canvas. They took a character that was pretty lovable last year (most of what happened after he and Caroline finally got engaged) and have turned him into an egomaniac. Yet, I find it enjoyable because he's clearly being emotional and selfish, other characters are calling him out on it, and eventually he'll end up regretting all of this. He's a train wreck right now but i think thats the writer's point. I think it says a lot about how skilled the writers are here vs Y&R. Nick does hurtful things for selfish reasons, never feels punishment and gets propped by most of the characters on the show. I have no doubt that once this is all said and done, Rick will get a comeuppance and he'll be repentant.

*wipes tears* whew. Today's show got me. Such good stuff. Rick and Eric gave me all the life I've been missing since we haven't had any Bill and Liam scenes lately. I guess they were like "we can give you some good father/son scenes too, just watch." Eric was a mess trying to lecture Rick but I did love his pointing out that of course he wanted Rick to be better than he could ever be. That's part of being a parent.

I love how *taking off the wedding ring* is just like *putting the condom on* when it comes to letting it be known that sex with this (soon to be divorced) person is now possible. B&B is like- "ring is off! awww snap someone's ready for sex with someone other than their legal spouse!" lol Loving every minute of this though. We talked here a while back about how much more drama is inherent when you give relationships time to build. When the writers let viewers get invested in a stable relationship it makes it that much more entertaining when the couple starts having issues down the line. This is really good stuff. *Speaking of... oy Rick, I hope you protected your swimmers. This chick is playing for keeps.

This! lol I actually blurted out an uncontrollable "STFU Hope!" the second she came onscreen and started talking about unfollowing Caroline. Kudos to Ivy for having a life away from these people, especially considering she's been a confidante of Caroline so, according to show logic, she would've fit right in during the affair reveal scenes.

What a lackluster finale. Why even bring out the first evicted houseguests if you don't plan on asking them any questions? For a 90 minute show I feel like nothing interesting/surprising actually happened. There didn't even seem to be much confetti or audience screaming. All very subdued. I was even hoping Julie would point out the original Americas Team member, Joey so everyone could have a laugh about that. Poor Cody. He won 50k but he had 500k right in his hands but instead chose his bestie as if he'd just finished a stint at summer camp. Little did he know he handed his bestie an extra 50k just for making it to final two. Loved the girls running to congratulate Donny when he won AF. Oh and Frankie is totally the case of an older sibling not being able to handle the arrival of a younger, cuter sibling. He was never able to get over that. He's been scrambling for that lost attention ever since.

Yes!!! Ish got real in that moment for all involved parties. Thus far Hope hasn't really had to deal with the same Quinn that everyone else on the show has had to deal with. Wyatt wanted Hope so Quinn wanted Hope for Wyatt. Quinn has been hella accomodating of Hope. This was really the first time Quinn gave Hope the "I will cut for this boy and yes that means I will cut you too if needed". Hope thought she was gonna talk down to Quinn like she did Ivy last week. Quinn is a grown ass woman though. She's smarter than you and she will fight you, little girl. I think both Hope and Wyatt are only now thinking about the binding connections that marriage creates. You've legally joined two families and that means Quinn ain't going anywhere whether physically (seeing her on holidays) or genetically (any potential kids they have).

Cosigning everyone else on yesterday's show being awesome. Just really good writing all around. There were a couple of times where I looked at the clock and was excited to see we still had 18 or 10 minutes left. Loved Bill explaining to Liam (and us) why it appears that he favors Wyatt. I had always thought Bill's deferring to Wyatt had more to do with Liam's sensitive personality requiring more harsh feedback. Bill knows Hope has caused Liam endless pain/frustration so of course you want to discourage that relationship. If hope wants Wyatt or anyone but Liam, so be it. But I definitely didn't see Bill actually acting out of deep down concern and pity for Wyatt having a BSC mother. It was cool to see him reveal his real motivation. Also cool to hear him say that he did love Liam's mother. Also loved Quinn calling out how all of this is Hopes fault. The messenger will undoubtedly overshadow the message, but I'm glad someone said it. People have been avoiding the elephant in the room. Im still marveling at the ridiculousness of the entire show coming together to celebrate Hope and Wyatt as newly weds when everyone there knew she and Liam were a couple mere days before her marrying Wyatt. Wyatt really left me feeling all over the place yesterday. I generally don't like him(or rather I don't like how he treats Liam) but I always feel bad for him when thinking of his crazy mother. What a horrible role model. I was also pretty upset with him for just now finally taking a moment to see what a doofus he has been chasing all this time. Hope is an idiot. Period. His "wow." yesterday spoke volumes. Like, he really thought Hope used Liam not showing up to follow her heart and really move on from Liam. In actuality it really was as simple as "the thing I wanted didn't get here in time, so I just took the other thing that was nearby instead." He started a marriage with someone who thinks that simplistically. I think(hope) his "wow." was the moment when things start to get more real for Wyatt.

Cause he's a hot mess! The thought of him setting up that moment with a model, quickly executing it, escorting her back out of the room, then continuing on with Eric like nothing happened. lol He was on a roll today: "good! this will make it that much easier to send Ridge back to Paris!" had me cracking up too.

[qoute]and all of Amber's pregnancy with Marcus's baby was good. My favorite part of that story was in the delivery room when Tawny commented to Bill "hmm...the baby looks a little tan" lol. Plus Marcus' lackadaisical "we hang out sometimes" when Justin confronted him about if he'd been sleeping with Amber was hilarious. Hope? Fix your face boo. Jealousy isn't becoming of you. I have to say, I enjoyed Ridgepen's scenes with Caroline. He has a nice smile. I haven't seen him smile once on this show. I blame Katie.

Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out

This is what I think he's doing and honestly, it's what I'd do if i were in that house as well. As a fan of the show, I complain all of the time about production interference. Production is an extra houseguest to account for. I don't blame him at all for preferring to keep his cards close to his chest. It creates a misleading broadcast show, but he's trying to win a boatload of money and I don't blame him for trying to minimize outside interference either with him or with other houseguests wrt him. We know that the diary room asks the houseguests leading questions. Who's to say they wouldn't use his motivations against him to other houseguests in their DR sessions? If the DR was actually a "diary room" to allow houseguests to talk freely without their words being used against them, I'd feel differently about how Derrick approaches his sessions. I just can't knock him for knowing, like I know, that regardless of what he's giving them to use for the broadcast show, the DR is not to be trusted. The only thing he's harming is his chances for Americas Favorite, but if it gets him into the final two, its a choice that will pay off. -

You're probably right. I guess just watching the episodes it was all so very heavy handed to me. Made me wonder. -
Season 16 Live Feed Discussion: Keeping an Eye Out
luvlee2003 replied to Stinger97's topic in Past Seasons
Okay so I can't help but feel that this "choose your own adventure" TA assignment was an attempt by production to save Donny. Just got to watch the Sunday and Wednesday episodes back to back and it all felt very heavy handed in making Frankie look like a monster (he said several times that he thought saving Donny was a dumb/bad idea, but they chose to include his DR session where he looked particularly bad while saying it). Derrick looked shady and Donny asked repeatedly for our help. I think the mission was set and the edit was done as it was to get the viewing audience riled up. TA is really the only opportunity for the viewing audience to impact the game. I wouldn't be surprised if the DR floated the idea to Donny to save himself as the mission in the first place. Donny doesn't have any friends in the house he could confirm that to so we wouldn't know for sure, but I think its a possibility. Can someone give a little more detail on when they will find out if they completed the mission? Are we for sure they won't find out until during the live show? Who (Frankie, Derrick, Donny) confirmed this was when they'd find out? Will they find out prior to the vote? Enough time to change votes? This is all my spec and it's probably me overthinking this. I just don't see from a production standpoint why they would suggest TA do its own mission without some ulterior motive. I doubt they went into this season without mapping out all of the potential TA missions and when to assign them and for what reason. At face value this mission is a "take a week off by doing something fun and easy" but production is never "off" until the finale. At the very least this appears to me to set the stage for Derrick vs Frankie with Derrick looking more sympathetic ("he turned on TA and cost us $5k!") to the viewing audience. -
Tessaray, Bill has had more years to bond with Liam. While Wyatt has had less time with Bill, he's just got more of Bill's assertive personality type. Liam is much more passive and reactionary. So I don't think it's necessarily that Bill is #teamwyatt but he's just overprotective of Liam. He knows Liam is the extra sensitive type so he always errs on the side of Liam sucking it up and moving on. He's not really into the destiny of Hope and Liam, so when they hit a catastrophic roadblock (roughly every 8-9 months) you'll often find him forcefully telling Liam to get over her.

Thats a great way to think about it. He's tried to approach Cody and Christine a few times now with this line of thought (the whole pecking order stuff) but I'm wondering if Frankie and Caleb would've been the better avenues to go about it. I think Frankie might take interest in the "Derrick is going to win this...when are you planning to get him out?" line of thinking. Plus Caleb has proven to be incredibly easy to manipulate. I think Frankie and Caleb probably think they are high in the pecking order for Derrick since they are "strong" players, but they're actually much lower than Cody and Victoria.
