S31.E14: Lie, Cheat, And Steal / S31.E15: Live Reunion
himela replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Survivor
I didn't like Jeremy winning to be honest, I didn't think he did anything to deserve it other than enjoying Joe's wins in immunity challenges pre merge and following Spencer's lead after merge. I am not clear whether any decisions he made were his own or Spencer's but it definitely seems the only choice he made by his own was using the HII for Stephen. And the worst thing he did which disgusted me was using his wife's pregnancy to get the sympathy vote - the timing he did it was disgusting as well, when the last juror was asking questions. I respect Jeremy as a person but I found this to be a below the belt hit. I was stunned to see Jeremy received all ten votes. I mean, we go through all this great season talking about amazing moves and worthy players bla bla, and what it comes down to is a sympathy vote? Spencer was on the bottom half of the game, he scrumbled to take a breath and he survived, he won three immunity challenges, he was the strategist behind everything and he gets zero votes? Tragic, in my opinion. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. General comments for the rest: Poor Shirin. Her first season she's trapped with racist, sexist people and her second season she is booted first. If Kimmi had voted for Kelley, she would have proven to her alliance she is with them and Keith would have gone. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Poor old Keith. The innocent fish in the game of sharks. I'd expected that Kass at least would have voted for Spencer. For good old times. I'm surprised Abi had so little air time, only to say a sentence. While Joe... too much air time. I kinda like him but making him such a hero is too much. Have a great new year everyone, see you next season :) -
Sorry my english is not great. I meant that he didn't team up with them cause he is close to them or he wants to work with then rather than to avoid one of his own allies to be targeted at the time. And this is proven next two tribal councils when the witches try to vote out Stephen, and they finally succeed. So this shows that Jeremy was never in a true alliance and/or voting bloc with the witches. He just went with the flow to avoid losing Stephen.
-
I guess Jeremy is playing the Sandra game "if it ain't me, I'm ok". I don't like this game at all. He has done nothing (other than having two idols by pure luck) to prove he is really worth of being there and winning. And yes, winning challenges is a big part of proving your strength, after all it's "outwit, outPLAY, outlast". I don't understand how Jeremy using Joe as a shield is any different than Kimmi flying under the radar and being dragged to the final 7. Jeremy is a mastermind but Kimmi is a stupid nonexistant player? Jeremy didn't "team up" with the three witches to vote out Wiggles, he just did it so they don't focus on someone from his alliance.
-
I can't accept it as strategy completely because then why isn't what Kimmi is doing (nothing...) strategy as well? What will Jeremy say in the FTC? "I was trying to have shields around me and I found two idols so vote for me"? It sounds like an excuse to me, to use doing nothing and flying under the radar as strategy. How will he transform his doing nothing to great strategy? I don't see it happening. Maybe Spencer sees that that's why he is OK with being with Jeremy in the FTC. Spencer has done way more in the game - he was at the bottom for many weeks, he managed to change his fate by creating social relationships and bonding with people, he won at least one immunity challenge, he managed to put himself in different positions every week so he eliminates the threats. Jeremy is stuck with just one alliance, so is Tasha. That's why I feel Spencer will win against these two. Cause he managed to adjust and better his position every week. If he DID tell him, I am pretty sure we would have seen it, but then you never know. Maybe it's a suspense thing to keep a secret cause next week's episode is relevant with the idol so they want to throw it like a bomb.
-
I am wondering whether Jeremy actually told Spencer about his idol. If he didn't, I don't see why Spencer would prefer to vote out Joe and risk an all girls alliance. Is he that sure Tasha will never agree to it or is he so sure he will be able to win immunity challenges all the way to the end? At this point of the game I don't see Jeremy as that great of a player as he is portrayed. I mean, I do like him as a human being and the way he treats his wife and family, but other than finding two idols and being on the winning tribe from the start he has not done anything else that is so extraordinary. He has not won an individual immunity or reward challenge yet. He has no other relationship than with Spencer and Tasha. His social game with the rest there is zero. A good player needs to adjust their alliances and/or voting blocs and try to create relationships even with people who seem on the bottom at the time. Jeremy seems to disregard Keith, Abi and Wentworth, even Kimmi fell so much in the outs that she had to create new plans for herself! This is a mistake from Jeremy's part, in my opinion.

Joe's Ponderosa for those who can't watch on cbs:
-
Ok I have to admit I was crying the whole 10 minutes the loved ones were coming in. Seeing Abi's mom shows me clearly why she is how she is; a tough cookie. Her mom's only way to support her through the challenge was barking orders to her: focus, don't look around, do your job. It's sad to see kids that later become adults being treated like soldiers. Jeremy has a baby boy, how nice for him. I was so happy to see Val all well and doing great. Joe with his Dad was a blessing to see as well. Spencer saying "I love you" to his gf for the first time? What a great memory of the beginning of a relationship. Every visit was really great and memorable. I laughed a lot at Keiths's "I want to see family, I don't care of you bring me the fifth cousin from my father's side". These moments remind me why Keith was voted in there. I was proud of Spencer realizing he can't treat others like pawns to get him to the end and trying to recreate a connection with Jeremy and Tasha. I loved how Kimmi took her destiny in her own hands and proposed a girls alliance - I'm sure Monica is still screaming to her TV since that time. Seeing Joe fainting was scary as hell. I'm happy he is OK. What a great ending would it be to an amazing season to see the women FINALLY working together and going to the end. How defeated and stupid would the boys feel after that? The only thing that gives me hope that won't happen is Jeremy's HII. If he plays it correctly, great things can happen. I'm sad to see Joe leave the game again like this but I have to admit his game was almost the same than last time.

Wigglesworth's Ponderosa video for those who can't watch on cbs.
-
I think that whatever good this season has shown is due to the constant new elements thrown in there (two tribes to three, immunity idols in challenges, three tribes to two, merge with 13 people, steal vote thing). I am now that wowed with the way most players have played so far and it doesn't justify their fame and second chance story. If it was any other season with new people I would not find it good enough. I said last episode that if the season were to finish like this (with last episode) I'd be satisfied with it. But it seems predictability and nonsense will become a big part of this season from now on.
-
Right. Wigglesworth has finished her survivor career by doing, for a second time, absolutely nothing. Even her immunity wins in season 1 were easy wins with older people and the winner Hatch who withdrew from the final challenge. I really feel a disappointmengt for wasting a spot in Survivor Second chances with her. I wish I could see T-bird or even Shane there instead of her. Goodbye Kelly, I hope I never hear of you again. I was mad with Kimmi referring to the girls as witches. It seems her voting out Monica is a pattern for her: she dislikes strong women cause she is a weak woman herself. Does she really think she could actually win if lets say final tribal council was today? What exactly has she done to deserve it? Kimmi, just shut your mouth. I'm not a feminist nor do I feel like this cause I love underdogs, but calling other women witches in a game is insulting. I don't understand why the constant interviews with Fishbach. It seems they are using him as a podcast presenter or something. I wish I could give up this time to hear from Tasha, Keith, Joe and the rest of them. I know that these people don't strategize that much, but I still want to hear their thoughts. I find it interesting that Fishbach from all people decides to align with the three girls and he recruits Spencer and Jeremy. Jeremy finding a second idol? If it goes like this, I don't see him losing at this point. The three guys made the right move. They saw that the three girls are more weak at challenges than the rest of the people. Jeremy finally decided to throw out his shield, Joe. Regarding Joe, why the hell does he not try to work something with the three girls? Does he really think he'll win all immunities till the end? And even if he does, will these victories be enough to win him the money with zero strategizing? I still hope Spencer wins but he needs to start strategizing a bit now. He's remained in the shadows for more than enough time. Time to play the game.

I listened to Rob's interview with Savage and he justified his decision of last week to suggest Ciera as the person they'd tell Spencer was going to be voted out like this: that Spencer and Wiggles had gone to take water and they only had 10 minutes so they decided to follow Kass's will from the start of the game to boot Spencer so they agreed on that, then Spencer and Wiggles were coming back so he just decided in a second to throw out Ciera's name. Such a noob mistake while he could just suggest his own name or suggest nobody's name, Spencer knew already he was going to get voted out that tribal council, no need to lie to him any more than needed. This fast decision of his sealed his fate as it seemed cause had that not happened the outcome would be different; Kass, Ciera and Abi would be tight with Savage, Spencer would be gone and things after merge would be very different. Maybe stupid question but I can't figure this out. There is a capture of a scene when Jenn played her idol last year and when she did Joe whispered "Savage". Why did he say that? http://parade.com/436537/joe-savage/
-
But she may do all of this on purpose. The more people hate you, the more likely it is they will take you to the end with them so their chance of winning is bigger. Maybe Cierra WANTS to be the annoying girl who can't keep her mouth shut. Sadly for her we already have one such girl, and she has done a way better job for everyone to hate her: Abi. (I know, I know, I'm dead to her, whatever.)

I don't think they have any right to tell Jeff anything. Jeff is one of the producers, he pays money for this and they knew this signing up for this game. Jeff is the master there and he can do whatever he likes (with respect to people of course). He has not been rude or offensive to anyone so everything else is fair game. Even if someone tells him to stop talking Jeff will just respond "just doing my job man".
-
What I don't get is why Jeremy is considered to be playing an amazing game by basically doing ... nothing (not winning, not strategizing, just being in a big alliance) while Kimmi (who in my eyes has played the exact same game with the addition that she protected her bayon alliance by ousting Monica who was plotting against it) is being seen as a goat who is being dragged to the end. Jeremy has done nothing extraordinary. He sure has the strategy to be Stephen's LJ and keep Joe as a shield but Kimmi can have the same strategy keeping Jeremy and Joe as HER shield and we know nothing about it. I mean, the editors choose what we see right?
-
If the three girls convince Joe, Wiggles and Spencer (who already know they are on their bottom of the majority alliance and till now have been used only as a vote) they have the 6 majority and they can pick the strong people out one by one. How sweet would that be? Wiggles needs to justify her existance in this game, now is the great time to do it!

Andrew Savage's Ponderosa video for those who can't watch it in cbs.
-
WOW what an amazing episode! I think it's my favorite after Parvati's idols playing in tribal council. When I saw Savage's name written down I screamed "YESSS!". I never want to see this stupid face of his again in my whole life. Let him go cry in his supermodel wife's supermodelly arms. Oh how amazing was that? If the season was over today I'd be happy and satisfied by it but having in mind that more is coming just warms my heart. Survivor gets better and better. I have to comment on Fishbach. Why on earth do you go and talk about taking off Joe BEFORE the immunity challenge? Wait and see who actually wins it and then do your thing in private and not near Joe's closest people. I think Stephen's super knowledge of the game and over strategizing will eventually cost him the game. Fishbach "you got to chill man"! In the contrary I am so proud of Spencer who has managed to lay low, follow the crowd without creating waves towards him and eventually getting himself in a position that he is becoming a member of the big bayon alliance. Good for him! I'm stunned that nobody thought of splitting votes THIS time when it was more than needed. They split votes last time but not now. What a noobish decision. What was with Kass showing her finger in the tribal council? Is this the image she wants her kid to have about her? Doesn't she have a bad enough reputation already? I'm also surprised that they decided to actually vote for Wentworth instead of Cierra. Why do you think that happened? Do they consider her a bigger strategist and/or a bigger challenge threat?
-
I truly belileve Ciera will be next to go cause at least no male will trust her after all her explosion. I think next episode will be a boring one as well before the true fights between strong players begin. I have a fear that the next even two episodes will be predictable with Ciera and then Abi leaving, which will be a shame of air time to watch such predictable councils. Why didn't Wentworth even consider using her idol to save Kass and get rid of a strong player like Jeremy and Savage? I know it's early but how great would that be?
-
Even when you are sure you will win the money sitting next to these 5 year olds? Lets not forget, for us it's entertainment, for the actual players it's about real life and the chance to win 1 million dollars that will change their life forever.
-
I think that if you consider yourself a good player you must have a good alliance going on already so you don't care what unpredictable people may be doing. Remember Boston Rob and Philip? While I hate Rob cause I find him an arrogant douche, I have to admit he played a good game the time he won. Philip was unpredictable but Rob could manage him and call the shots. Kass is not a person you should be scared of, Kass is like an Abi, you just have to feed her with compliments of her intelligence and let her think she has everything under control and she will be your best ally. Kass was gonna be more loyal to Cierra than Cierra was to her. These 4 women had a good shot to flip things and find cracks but they didn't. I hate to find myself agreeing with Stephen but 3 small women (meaning not challenge threats) being the first to consider voting off is stupid especially in a season where the best are playing.
-
Also I want to say about Wigglesworth, I am rewatching season 1 (such an experience!) and I find her the most boring person in the world back then and like a nun now. At least 15 years she used to smile once in a while cause she was young. Now she acts like she is constantly in a church group trip. I don't see anything more in her except from having been in season 1, which is not an achievement by itself but only pure luck.
-
I didn't like the episode that much. I mean, where was the strategy is voting out one of the weakest players who had a zero chance to be given a million dollars in the final three? I get that Kass creates unwanted drama and chaos but in a 13 people tribe after merge wouldn't it make more sense to try and vote out the biggest physical challenge threats? I mean, isn't this still Survivor or is it kids camp where the nicest people should stay? Sandra stayed both times and won because she was so annoying everyone kept her as a zero chance to win. Kass could be the same. Also, the 9 people who wanted to split the vote 5 Kass 4 Cierra were stupid. If Spencer (or someone else for that matter) flipped, it would be easy as hell that one of them 8 would be voted out. You can't risk this when you don't have a solid alliance yet and Spencer was not in a solid alliance with them for sure. Regarding Cierra voting for Savage, I don't really get it, I hope she explains it in twitter or something.
-
Nah. It was just a phrase Spencer used for Kass (or against Kass) after she flipped on their alliance creating enemies, meaning these people would never vote for her. It made sense at the time. Kass said it like it was her time to take revenge of Spencer, but in the end she didn't.
-
I don't think Abi works with alliances. She is taken where the wind = her mind blows. She aligns with every group suits her every time = the group that has a person who can reassure her of her beauty and wits. Abi is not playing to win. She is playing to have fun, show her beauty, make friends and/or enemies and become famous. If she happens to be in a final three she will just be satisfied with herself. Nothing more, nothing less, imo.
