S07.E13: Sonja Island
thefog replied to motorcitymom65's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
So, almost every one's storyline this season is Sonja. Other than that, very little on the others' families, work. They need to cut the fat from this cast. They can start by losing Kristin, Heather, Carole. -
I would never put Lamar over Scott or Rob over Scott. In as far as Kayne, he takes the cake in as far as asshole personality. At least with the Disick children, the public isn't deluge with pics, stories of them - unlike North West. And they're not dragged around to places like Fashion Week - where kids do not belong. Scott's actions are definitely amped up for the show. The family will never reveal it's true secrets - like with Lamar, with Rob.
-
So if Kendall makes it, it is in spite of her parents? And if Kylie doesn't, it's because of her parents? There's a double standard here. Brody is a Kim wannabe - but not as successful. Brandon has appeared on reality TV to further his career.
-
Kris has never given the impression that she is unhappy that her only son graduated from USC Business School. She supported him going to law school, and even talked proudly of him being an athlete in high school (college). Can you send the link that this is in the works?
-
Rob was never really part of the Kardashian brand like his sisters. The weight is really because of his health. I actually thought Kris and Kim were more realistic about the situation than Khloe.
-
It stems from his insecurity of being the only son, yet the least successful of the family. He's always come off as someone with a sense of entitlement because of his name; delusions of grandeur. Yet he is lazy and unmotivated - and not very smart - and has a boring personality.
-
Aside from the weight gain (which is public knowledge), they never really went into specifics on his other issues. I can't imagine any parent would want to see their child spiral like that. And Kim didn't exactly come off looking sympathetic in her tough love stan.
-
To pimp him out to do what? He hasn't even part of the show. It is life threatening for someone his frame to gain over 100+ lbs. He looks horrible in the pics.
-
It's Brandi's stupidity and delusional ego that did her in. She betrayed everyone from Andy, to Adrienne, to Kyle to Lisa. Status wise, she never fit with the Beverly Hills affluence, yet turned on the people that helped her. I think it is so ironic that she tried to get rid of Eileen. But it was Eileen and Lisa R that help bring this show out of the Brandi gutter. Season 1 was fine without Brandi and Kim not being part of the central storyline.

Bethenny & Jason: The Divorce Showdown
thefog replied to ScoobieDoobs's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
I blame Bethenny. I don't think she will ever do better than Jason, but she treated him - and his family - like crap. Bethenny is too fame hungry, too money hungry to ever be in a good relationship. All drama because she wanted a TV wedding and her own show. Yet now she is on "reality" TV crying about her life, her failed marriage. For her daughter's sake, she needs to deal with her family issues in private. -
At only 37 and no mention of how he died? It had to be drugs. No surprise considering the secrecy around Lamar's issues and the darkness in that house that Khloe has alluded too.
-
Those against Caitlyn will cherry pick and post the negative response. The glass is half empty syndrome. I defer to the above.
-
The New York Post??? It was rated the least-credible major news outlet in New York, and the only news outlet to receive more responses calling it "not credible" than credible. They've had a history of lawsuits for bad reporting and have a reputation for sensationalism, blatant advocacy and conservative bias. It's like quoting TMZ as the "bible" for legit journalism. But even if they were legit, one source does not speak for all of America. There are numerous articles/interviews that can counter this.
-
But they are not at the center of the story. Caitlyn continues to be. For example, I saw a FOX roundtable this morning. Very conservative views. There was no mentioned about the K family at all.
-
Chazz Bono's fame was solely due to his parents. Not him. Laverne Cox is not a house hold name. Not to take anything away from them, but there is a vast difference with public recognition between them and Caitlyn Jenner. Caitlyn already apologized and regretted what happened with his 1st four children. All she can do is build a better relationship moving forward. They can either accept it or not. The past cannot be changed.
-
IMO, you are giving the K's, way more power and influence than they have. This nation does not resolve around them. In as far as Caitlyn, there is also a generation that connects her with her Olympic glory days - that of the great American hero; which is a big part of this story. I also think you are way under estimating the intelligence of the general public. People are smart enough to figure things out for themselves. And if there are people who are so traumatized by people they do not know, except for seeing on a TV show, they really have way deeper issues. As someone who isn't even a fan of this family, they are nowhere as dangerous as the crimes committed by the Duggar family.
-
The gradual understanding and acceptance of transgender people has come way too slow, IMO. This issue has been in the dark for too long. No one is forced to believe anything. Everyone has choices. No one is forced to pay attention to the media coverage. I totally disagree that "people who are PC'ed will likely become PO'ed, leading to backlash, bias, violence, etc." IMO, that sounds more like of an attempt to create unnecessary fear in hopes of silencing people. If there is backlash, it's going to come from those who hate to begin with. And that hate, like all discrimination and prejudices, is born out of ignorance and fear.
-
Whether people like this family or not, the fact remains they have a huge following - especially among younger fans. So if their fame can help shed some understanding and acceptance, how exactly is that a bad thing. The media coverage on the whole has been pretty positive. I find it very ironic how Kim, Kris are continuously brought into the conversation by their detractors, who in essence are giving them the same attention they being criticized for.

American Idol Past Contestants: What Are They Up To Now?
thefog replied to tribeca's topic in American Idol
David Cook's problem - he peaked on the Idol stage. And he was never able to shake the Idol stigma. It was exasperated by his rabid fans who continue to quote his Idol performances as the gold standard - even though it's been over 7 yrs. And most of that audience have long moved on. That's why his post Idol career has been the most disappointing. He's now doing crowd funding and has faded from mainstream music. A far cry from his Idol days. I have lost interest in his career. -
What a huge miss for BRAVO by not having the reunion at Patricia's house. This is one of the best shows they have. I hope it returns for a 3rd season.
-
The difference is that these people are not as well known to the general public. Caitlyn has also the history of being one the greatest Olympians ever - and the image of the ultimate macho athlete, the All-American hero. The past can't be undone or changed. All she can do is try and correct it moving forward, which she is trying to do. Doesn't do anyone any good to hold on to past mistakes, regrets, grudges.
-
Caitlyn would never be able to convince E to do that type of show. There won't be an audience for it. Whereas I'm pretty sure that all the critics, naysayers will be watching the series with Caitlyn.
-
Belinda was just a name floating around the gossip sites - nothing ever confirmed. Caitlyn is actually a very popular name. Her oldest daughter is name Casey. She will always have her naysayers, but I am hoping she will be able to inspire many. I can't see how this has anything to do Kim and stealing her thunder. It's her 2nd child. The media coverage would not be on the same scale.
