I refuse to let right-wing bigots commandeer the word "Christian" for themselves, just as I refuse to let them own the U.S. flag. Their saying they are Christian doesn't make them so, when their actions and words tell us plainly they are not.

It is outrageous. In so many places around the.world, USAID programs save lives and offer hope. If all those US efforts for nutrition, education and health care end, the only thing people in many countries will know of America is its military. Ending USAID is criminally and tragically short-sighted.

I'm not a demographer but I used to work with our state demographers, and the ACS provides bedrock data about the American people that helps researchers, health care planners, municipal and state governments, and others understand how our population is changing and what its needs are. I hear you -- Why change a classic? I have used Dove for Sensitive Skin bars for many years (no fragrance, dyes or other irritants). Suddenly without notice or a label change the soap is different. Still supposedly "no fragrance" but smells different anyway! And a subtly different color -- a bit off-white rather than white. It's the different smell that bothers me most. This comes just after the conditioner I use changed its scent without any warning from "crisp and lively" to a musky scent I can't stand -- I had to throw the new bottle away. Of course these are tiny peeves given what's happening in the wider world, but sometimes our little comforts are a solace when everything else seems dangerously in flux.

I can't get over her posting this private note from her husband for everyone to read. Is nothing between this husband and wife private?
