  1. Elena has become the avatar for the average Y&R viewer.  She had the same look on her face as we all did when Nate was blathering on about how much the Newmans recognize how awesome he is.  Go on a nice vacation by yourself, Elena.  There's some hot surfer somewhere just waiting for you to teach him CPR.

So is Ashley going to try to wrestle control of Jabot from Jack, or will she take a leap of faith with Tucker and launch some new company with Allie's revolutionary discovery?  Does she still own all of the Jabot patents, or was that settled when My Booty and Jabot merged?

  2. I know everything on this show happens off-screen, but unless Heather adopted Lucy at some point, she has no claim to her and no business keeping her in Portugal against Daniel's wishes.

Phyllis is a giant, tightly wound bundle of bitterness and frustration right now.  She's totally going to give Jeremy a tour of The Ganja Psilocybe, beginning with the dumpster behind the building.

Yeah, Summer and Kyle, if you're unhappy with Jack's choices in his own house, you can take your big fat CEO paychecks and buy your own place.

I wonder if Tucker is expecting Ashley to leak info to Victor...?

I thought it was a curious choice for Nikki to spend her Valentine's Day sitting on her couch, folding clothes from the big pile next to her on the couch.  Lucky she was paying attention, though, or she would never have found shiny dog collar!   I guess even in Genoa City, folks need to be reminded to empty out their pockets before tossing stuff in the laundry.

I came here to say the same thing, only with much less flair!  Victor gave Nikki a bedazzled collar for a 180-pound Rottweiler.  She already has the matching leash.  But for a multi-billionaire, Victor buys cheap ❤-Day cards.  I always go for the ones that have a puppy or kitten on them.  You can never go wrong with cute.  This year, I almost got the $7.99 Snoopy and Woodstock pop-up card, but I'm still paying off Christmas and my gas bill has been freaking insane the past two months.

Hey, that's original Heather!  Thank gods, the other two were woefully miscast.  Will she be visiting Paulie Tightpockets while she's in town?   How about Adam?  He's feeling down in the dumps and could use a booty call right about now.

  4. HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, PREVERTS!!!  💘

All of youse are the COOs of my heart.  But not in a creepy me-too kind of way.  More like a brotherly way.  But not pain-in-the-ass brotherly like Nick or Billy, more of a brother that you actually get along with...oh, you know what I mean.  I'll explain it on my podcast.

  5. Aww, jewel...that BLOWS!  I hate when the careful people get it.  If it's any consolation, my sister and her husband had it over Christmas and got over it fairly quickly.  (And her husband is immune-compromised.)  They also are not having any lingering long-term effects so far.

Santa Clarita Diet was hilarious!  Have you seen Derry Girls?  Really funny, but if you watch you'll need the closed captioning or you won't understand a word.

Nicholas is a sentient fart in a mitten.

Nicholas is sentient?  Do you still have the receipt for that?

I wonder if Nate now understands Devon's POV when Nate was making off-the-cuff impulsive decisions instead of sticking to the agreed-upon plan?

Victor bought Xeroxxerxes and renamed it Newman Media for Adam to run, but Victoria convinced him to sell the company to her and put it under the Newman Umbrella.   Why does Victor believe that Adam would fall for this again?

Every time I see Kyle and Summer at the office, I think of that movie Bugsy Malone.

  7. ^^Yes, Chance was born when Cricket was dating Philip, and Daniel was born when Cricket was married to Danny.  In my mind, they're practically brothers!

Any wagers that Sally will be having twins, one baby fathered by Adam and the other by Nick?  It's absurd enough that I think this particular writer would go down that road. Guiding Light did it with Blake's twins, but I can't remember how they figured out which boy was Ross's son and which one was Rick's.

  8. Douglas choosing Steffy might make more sense if they had built up to it and shown them spending time forging a close bond, but we haven't seen any of that.  Was she even at home when Douglas was there playing with Finn's stethoscope a week or so ago?  I think she was at work wringing her hands about Sheila.  Why are they doing this to Douglas?  This choice comes across as such a slap in the face to Hope.  Steffy isn't the one who stepped up for him when Caroline died.  And what about Beth?   He's kind of choosing Kelly over her.  The whole thing is so contrived, letting an 8-year-old choose None of the Above as his permanent living arrangement.  Does the judge know if Steffy's home has a room for him, or if her husband would be on board with this?

  9. Oh my gods, Nick and Sally are the hottest couple ever over there in Oppositeland.  Today, I felt like I was watching a high school junior meeting with her guidance counselor.

And exactly when did Jill get so dim?  She never once considered that Victor was giving her dirt on Sally in service to his own agenda?

Even though Nick and Adam are only half-brothers, won't the DNA test be positive no matter which one is the father?  How accurate are these tests at such an early stage of pregnancy?

I'm liking Audra more and more lately, and I hope she screws over Nate royally.

Didn't Chloe say Cane was Delia's father instead of Billy? Was there a paternity test involved? I can't remember. Chloe never knew her father so she wants everyone else to suffer.

Oh, that's right!  She didn't switch tests and I think she believed Cane was the father, but that's how we learned that Cane wasn't really Philip.  Cane had vials of Philip's blood, and now I'm thoroughly confused about how that proved he wasn't Delia's father.  But he knew he wasn't the father and pretended to be to avoid being exposed as an imposter.

Editing to clarify...Cane provided Philip's blood as a sample because he was seeing Lily and he didn't want to be saddled with Chloe and her baby.  But the results came back as a positive match, because Billy and Philip are brothers.  So Cane knew that Billy was the father, but didn't say anything to avoid having his true identity exposed.  If he had given his own DNA, it would not have matched.  One of the more convoluted WTD stories ever!

Damn, Victoria wasn’t even TRYING to be subtle about her desire. I so want Nate to file a sexual harassment suit against her, but after watching that final scene, he’s looking mighty pleased with himself so he’ll likely go along with whatever she wants. Because he’s a moron.

and speaking of morons, hi Chloe. This chick seriously needs a big, honking dose of STFU and MYOB. ‘Nick is an amazing father.’ ‘Nick will support you no matter what,’ ‘Do NOT tell Adam, just hope the baby is Nick’s.’ Why do I imagine she’ll be only too happy to switch the tests if it turns out that Adam is the father? Didn’t she do that at least once before? I wasn’t watching but I’m sure I remember reading comments about it.

I truly, deeply need this whole ‘Tucker is in debt up to his eyeballs’ story to be a rumor he started himself so he could lure Victor/Victoria in and grab NE for himself.  Then he can hire Adam as CEO and they can throw the whole damn family out on their collective asses.

Chloe never switched paternity tests, but she did hard-core convince Chelsea to tell Dylan he was Conor's father.  And that was before Delia's death, so she had no good reason to hate Adam at that point.  When Dylan learned the truth, he had some PTSD meltdown and kidnapped Conor.  Way to go, Chloe.

Did I see Nate roll his eyes when Victoria suggested they have more brainstorming sessions?

I can't get over what they've done to Sally.  She was such a fun character worthy of rooting for.  Nick's funk has turned her into a crushing bore.  And for what?  If Adam and Sharon even hinted at rekindling something, Nick would drop Sally in a heartbeat.

Yesterday, while I considered Devon's suggestion to be more of a reasonable solution than a loyalty test, Lily is the one who made it the latter.  She chose her ex-step-mother-in-law over him.  I have never understood Jill's pull to Lily.  There's no history between them pre-Cane that I can think of to explain it.

I'd be all for Tucker and Adam taking over NE.  Victor has to lose at least once, right?  Right?  Oh, crap.

Let's make it a sexy, smart woman who will aim right for Adam. I want him to get with someone who will make Sally super jealous. A Diane/Jeremy daughter would fit the bill. And bonus points here as it'd be Kyle's half-sister!

My guess is that Heather will be that woman.  She'll come back to town (maybe for Paul's funeral?  They have to explain his absence at some point, don't they?), and she and Adam will re-connect at about the same time as when Sally gets the results of her paternity test.  If Diane and Jeremy had a daughter, she would be about twelve years old!

Oh great, I was super happy with the Adam/Jack relationship yesterday and today, Adam’s “coasting” because he doesn’t like his job and Victor is right? Crap on toast show, giving it and taking if away!

Yes, this!  I feel that way about most things on this show.

If Adam was really doing as badly as Kyle says, wouldn’t Jack know about it? And wouldn’t he have spoken to Adam about it? Jack isn’t stupid. Naive perhaps, but he’s not likely to keep a co-CEO who isn’t pulling his weight.  But if Kyle thinks for a second that his father won’t find out what he did, he’s sadly mistaken. And when that happens, I hope Jack throws him out on his pompadour!

Just a couple of weeks ago, Jack and Adam were having a meeting at the Crimson Lights Conference Room, and Jack was singing Adam's praises about what a good job he was doing.  My guess is that the management team were just telling Kyle what he wanted to hear, as management teams are wont to do.

I like when Lauren and Michael get together with Phyllis.  Michael pouring some of Lauren's wine into his glass was pretty funny.   When did Daniel and Heather get married?  Did we know about that?

Yeah, she definitely needs to call it a day.  She always looks miserable, and Nate is always the reason.  Chance is a possibility, but I'm not sure Adam is her speed.

Fill me in, please.  What did the exploding boat mean?

Sheila and Terrible Tom (Kevin's father) tried to kill Lauren while she and Michael were on their honeymoon.  I can't remember how Lauren survived, but it probably doesn't matter...

Did I miss some big blow-up between Kyle and Adam?  I don't recall them crossing paths all the much, so Kyle's animosity towards him doesn't make much sense.

Someone mentioned upthread how nothing ever happens on this show, and if it does, it happens offscreen.  Today was the perfect example proving that.  It's all just circular talk.  The business stuff is the worst, so much talking without saying anything.  What was the point of Billy today?  Well, that question applies everyday, but especially today.  You could just pluck out all of his scenes and it wouldn't have changed anything.  It's really remarkable.

Yesterday's episode makes it all the more glaring.  Bill Bell's stories took a long loooong time to play out, but they were so intricate with lots of minutiae and you got a little piece of the puzzle every day.  This joker we have now drags out boring stories that go nowhere, and skuttles the ones that are interesting and replaces them with boring stories that go nowhere.

  15. It was odd that the clip with Phyllis was Phyllis-centric in a show honoring Lauren.  They should have kept it in all in the family and included a clip with Gloria instead.

Yes, Fen did bully a kid to the point of suicide.  I think Summer started it, and Fen picked it up to impress Summer.  They kind of down-played Lauren's bullying of Tracy here, but she did express her regrets for it while the Fen bullying story played put.

That whole story with Shawn was great.  I remember thinking Lauren was nuts for not finding him hotter than Paul, psycho-status notwithstanding.  Shawn and David Kimball were my two favorite villains on this show.

B&B had a Sheila-themed Halloween episode (I think it may have been her anniversary on that show).  Lauren was on that episode, toasting Sheila's (apparent) death with Eric Forrester.  I'm assuming Eric has alerted Lauren that their celebration was premature yet again.

True, and here's a little more about Scotty and Dylan, Sheila was pregnant by Scott but miscarried, then faked the rest of her pregnancy, then bought the baby that she swapped with Lauren & Scott's baby.

Sheila swapped babies so she could have Scott's child.  But didn't Lauren lie and tell Scott that she'd had an affair as well and that her baby wasn't his?  Or did that happen after the swap had already taken place?

  16. Does Devon have enough money to buy up controlling interest?  If not, Tucker apparently does and is eager to make amends and work with him.

Abby was wearing a one-shouldered (is that a word?) sweater, too.  I never even knew that was a thing, and I've seen two in one day!

Does Y&R have some real-life connection to Portland? That's where Kevin and Chloe lived when they were in hiding.   Didn't we learn with the whole Dominic fiasco that those legal adoption agreements aren't worth the paper they're printed on?

There was another mention of the sword necklace today, & at least 1 close-up of it. I think that’s how Sheila is controlling Bill. Just a guess, I haven’t seen anything, but they keep calling attention to it. That means something, right?

I feel like Flo & Sheila might enjoy high tea the afternoon they meet. They’re both awful criminals, who think nothing if stealing a baby, & both belong behind bars, surely they’ll bond them.

Yeah, it has to be the necklace.  Subtlety is not this show's strong-suit.  The necklace is getting as many mentions as the voice app.  Add in the close-ups and that's a major hint.  The question of how remains.

Someone mentioned Thomas being involved somehow.  He has been mysteriously absent through all of this.

Bill's flashbacks were strange in the context, like they were supposed to draw comparisons to Sheila's crimes.  Even Bill's worst misdeeds pale in comparison to Sheila's more minor transgressions, though.  Sheila was talking about the Spectra building implosion as if she were there and she knew who Sally was (the current Sally, that is).

  18. I like Daniel, too.  And I really like his rapport with...wait for it...Phyllis!  Shocking, but true!  I think the two of them play off each other so well.  She's her over-the-top self, and he's just quietly exasperated with her.  Kind of like how I am with my mom.

If I recall correctly Billy had substance abuses issues?  I noticed he ordered whiskey at the bar.  Or am I getting my characters mixed up?

I don't believe that Billy has a substance abuse problem (Jack does, and he drinks like crazy!).  Billy is a gambling addict.

Why did Kyle keep Summer from going to Paris if he didn't want her to know about the details of the plan?   I still don't understand why Jack had to steal a necklace anyway.  Couldn't he have just bought one? How would Jeremy know what belongs to Nikki?

Maybe Victor should be having this "fambly is more important than anything" conversation with, oh, let's say, Victoria. And Nick. And Nikki.  Victoria made no secret of her desire to get Adam out of NE, so I don't understand why Victor is so perplexed by Adam's decision to seek employment elsewhere.  And Dummer, Adam doesn't seem to hold it against you that your temper-tantrum-fueled car crash caused Chelsea to miscarry their first child.  He also gave up a kidney to save your sister's life.  You of all people should be cutting him all kinds of slack.
