  1. Rachel Dratch: https://www.wishtv.com/news/allindiana/snl-alum-rachel-dratch-to-face-worlds-smelliest-sock-talks-laundry-tips-latest-film-projects/ Inside Out is getting a sequel. Amy Poehler will be back but rumor has it Bill Hader will not: https://variety.com/2022/film/news/inside-out-2-pixar-1235366299/
  2. Lorne says there will be at least four new cast members. https://deadline.com/2022/09/snl-lorne-michaels-cast-changes-at-least-4-new-stars-1235116596/
  3. Today profile on Dick Ebersol and his new book (which includes some SNL stories).
  4. Both sides, both sides, both sides. Another example of how, underneath the brave, truthtelling narrative constantly pushed by Bill and various flacks, he still has the typical, ancient framing on serious topics. And of course he was also likely upset because he couldn't use the speech to say even Biden agrees with him about the woke kids and their cancel culture.
  5. Another Pete project: https://variety.com/2022/film/news/seth-rogen-pete-davidson-sebastian-stan-paul-dano-gamestop-1235357405/ and another: Ana Gasteyer TV-movie: https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/Ana-Gasteyer-Miley-Cyrus-More-Join-New-Dolly-Parton-Musical-Film-DOLLY-PARTONS-MOUNTAIN-MAGIC-CHRISTMAS-20220830
  6. Not always. Beck's exit wasn't announced until not long before the season 47 premiere. The same happened with Leslie Jones and Jason Sudeikis.
  7. Since Michael Che and Colin Jost only do Update, and Cecily is possibly going to miss some shows as she has another project around the time the season starts, I believe, so that would bring us down to 11. I can't argue that this is still a notable number of people, but I feel like I've already seen everything of Mikey, Kenan and Cecily, so I would prefer a few new voices...at least if they aren't just attempts to replicate departed cast members. I'm more interested in seeing a few of the longtime writers depart, although I guess that isn't likely. I had expected Aristotle and Melissa to go, but I wasn't expecting Alex. I guess I should have as he has done some outside work in the last few years and he was also on Weekend Update for the finale, which was surprising as he had already been on a number of times that season. Alex was so wasted (especially in seasons 45 and 46). We never really got to see the potential he so clearly had. I hope it was his choice to leave. I think the show will miss him. I think the problem is some of the longstanding writers. Kent Sublette, Che and Jost. I know SNL is always going to have some of the same flaws because they predate any of these three, but Sublette in particular I just do not enjoy a lot of their writing - I find it clunky and tiresome.
  8. Another suggestion Melissa isn't coming back.
  9. The woman who filed a lawsuit against Horatio Sanz has now added a number of other people, leading NBC to finally respond: https://people.com/tv/nbc-responds-to-latest-sexual-assault-claims-against-snl-horatio-sanz/
  10. I wonder if we will get a more known quantity of hosts, and more of a cameo parade. I hope not. I like the more eclectic hosts, and I don't miss the cameo overload. I've heard speculation about possible new hires (mainly that they are looking more for women), but who knows. A few weeks ago Melissa was apparently posting some memories of her time at SNL, with comments from friends like Heidi. If she announces she's leaving I won't be too shocked. Then there's Aristotle...someone pointed out to me he is not in this at all, which may tell us what we need to know: Neither is Punkie...
  11. We're probably getting off topic, but I'd happily retire Weekend Update for a while once Che and Jost leave.
  12. She definitely still seems close to Lorne. Based on some of her comments about being glad to not be a part of SNL today I have never been sure, but there's always a possibility. Here's one person who likely won't be taking over: https://deadline.com/2022/08/snl-producer-lindsay-shookus-exits-20-years-1235096222/
  13. Better Call Saul ended this week, and Bob Odenkirk's appearances included a Kimmel interview with guest host Al Franken. Abby Elliott talks about her new show and her haunting SNL tenure. https://www.thedailybeast.com/how-the-bear-helped-abby-elliott-leave-snl-pressure-behind Pete has an upcoming romcom with Kaley Cuoco. https://deadline.com/2022/08/kaley-cuoco-pete-davidson-meet-cute-peacock-release-date-1235093572/
  14. An interview with Tom "Bones" Malone, who was with the band for the first ten years of the show, a key part of the Blues Brothers, and later became a part of Letterman's band.
  15. It would be daunting but I could see someone wanting to take the risk.
  16. I don't think either of them would be interested - if anyone takes over (although now I'm wondering if Lorne wants to shut it down and Kenan said that to prepare viewers) I'm guessing it is someone currently working at the show. I agree. I'd like to see them try at least one season without Lorne. If it's about budget cuts, I think sometimes SNL would be fine with less anyway, especially if it meant they had to sharpen up the writing more and rely less on glossy pre-tapes.
  17. Chris Parnell played Rebel Wilson's father in her recent Netflix movie, Senior Year. Pete's movie Bodies, Bodies, Bodies is out now. He's currently making another movie called Wizards. https://deadline.com/2022/06/orlando-bloom-pete-davidson-wizards-a24-1235036347/ Nasim Pedrad's show, "Chad," was pulled before the second season could air. Nasim is shopping it elsewhere. https://deadline.com/2022/07/chad-tbs-not-proceeding-with-season-2-amid-scripted-pullout-nasim-pedrad-comedy-looking-for-new-home-1235048605/ Victoria Jackson is playing clubs and did a recent movie. https://www.startribune.com/snl-veteran-victoria-jackson-shares-how-religious-beliefs-got-her-blacklisted-in-hollywood/600195280/ Aristotle has recently made a film. https://deadline.com/2022/08/the-flight-attendant-saturday-night-live-zosia-mamet-aristotle-athari-molli-max-in-the-future-1235090814/ Sarah has been cast in a new Adam Sandler film. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/idina-menzel-sarah-sherman-bat-mitzvah-comedy-netflix-adam-sandler-1235179842/ Kenan got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 18. Vice uploaded their first episode of Dark Side of Comedy, which focuses on Chris Farley and includes a number of interviews with SNL alum as well as Chris' brother.
  19. Sean wrote for SNL briefly in season 6 (the first two episodes). He was one of many who parted on bad terms with then-producer Jean Doumanian.
