Please remember that the Political Talk Policy is enforced here. If you have not yet do so, please review it at the link above. Also, discussion here should be limited to what is happening at these Olympic games. Discussion of topics such as Nassar and Karolyi need to be taken to the general Gymnastics thread.

I'm listening to this on Audio right now. I had to get an Audible membership (for one month) to get it, but so far I'm enjoying it!

I signed up for Audible (and then promptly canceled) just to get this audiobook. I have heard nothing but good things about it! I just finished Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson on audio. I knew nothing about it--I just picked it up off a list of YA Award Winners to check off a box of my Adult Summer Reading Bingo (no, I've never outgrown summer reading). I *loved* this book. I'm not feeling YA lately, but this was just so beautiful. And it was a YA rarity as there isn't any romance in it. Instead it is about relationships, friendships, racism. I didn't know beforehand it was set in Portland, OR (I live in the suburbs of PDX), so it was great fun to read a local book and Watson really captures the essence of Portland. I'm going to recommend it to my daughter, who is going into 7th grade but reads way above her grade level. She has been having trouble with books because middle grade is too "easy" for her, but she doesn't like a lot of the subject matter (mostly young love) in YA novels.

With the re-opening of the Royals Thread, we are refining what is considered on topic for this thread regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Any conversation about Meghan and Harry's work in the industry is on topic here. Anything else needs to go over to the new Royals thread. We understand that sometimes the line is blurry or there is overlap. If you have a question, please let us know. Thanks! -
Who, What, When, Where?!: Miscellaneous Celebrity News 2.0
OtterMommy replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Everything Else TV
As Meghan Markle has worked as an actress and Prince Harry is now working in television and streaming, discussion of these two is on topic for this thread. However, they should not be used as a jumping off point for discussion about the Royal Family in general. Any royal-adjacent posts that do not focus on Harry and Meghan will be removed. Also, please keep in mind Primetimer's Be Civil rule. Rude or disrespectful behavior towards fellow posters and their views will is not tolerated. -

Who, What, When, Where?!: Miscellaneous Celebrity News 2.0

Hey all... Just a reminder that this is the celebrity news thread, not a network discussion thread, Thanks so much! -
I really enjoyed this episode, but I expected to as I really admire both Audra MacDonald and Mandy Patinkin. I wasn't put off by Patinkin's emotional responses as I already knew he was the sort of guy who is just out there with his emotions (as he himself said in this episode). I did appreciate that MacDonald's story was unique to the series (so far) with the attention spent on the Great Migration west, and not North. All that being said, I did think there was a strange element to this episode. Patinkin's side was pretty heavy and MacDonald's was far less so. It pretty much came down to: to Mandy Patinkin: Over 20 of your relatives were gassed at Treblinka to Audra MacDonald: Here's a picture of your grandfather with the Hamm's Beer lady. This might have been a case where the paring was a disservice to both guests. I get that they were paired together as they are both actors who have a very similar heft on Broadway, but their stories were just so different and neither really played much into their own vocational choices.
