Spoilers and Spoiler Discussion: How's Your Head?
BigEasygirl replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Sleepy Hollow [V]
Bravo, phoenics, I need your entire scenario to happen. If this is what's in store--even though I will still have disliked a lot of this season--I can somewhat support it, and get through to the other side and season 3. Please, please let this be what's going to happen. Oh, and in season 3, Imma need to see less Henry along with him and Headless back on equal Horseman status. Riddley, I think Orlando Jones' talents would be wasted as a Horseman. I want him back on the force working with TeamWitness. If the show wants a bromance with Crane, they should use Irving. I just really enjoy what Orlando brings to that role. I love HalcyonDays' scenario where Irving is re-instated amid controversy and the distrust of his fellow officers. Maybe he retracts his confession, or it's thrown out due to some violation of his rights and the case is closed due to lack of hard evidence. I think Reyes should be bumped up to police commissioner (or Mayor) who represents the departments distrust of Irving, but has a soft spot for Abbie. She's softened up to her recently, so lets keep that. -
MissAlmond, I could definitely go for your scenario. They definitely need to detach Ichabod from Henry and Katrina and go with a Moloch induced alternate reality. Using Irving would work well. And I wish they'd implement it starting with the first of the remaining six epis of this season or season 2 will be a total wash for me.

Another really good article about the season two mistakes and the #abbiemillsdeservesbetter campaign on twitter. http://www.tvjuriste.com/sleepy-hollow-fans-tell-writers-to-wake-up/

Yeah, it's not rocket science. Until they kill of Katrina and Henry, get the focus back on the Apocalypse and the Witnesses, get Headless back out on the street trying to kill people as the Horseman of Death should be doing, stop sidelining Jenny to push Hawley, and get Irving back on the force with his soul intact, the show isn't going to improve imo.
-
They never fail to make me laugh. Especially their shading of Katrina. lol And they unashamedly call Hawley "Henley." http://projectfandom.com/podcasts/ Just scroll down until you see Episode 155: Sleepy Hollow S2E8 'Heartless'

A fan sent this to Orlando Jones and he posted it on tumblr.

^I agree. The clues are really all there in the dialogue imo. There's not even a need for mimicking Abbie. It's spelled out in the words.
-
I can't tell you how annoyed and saddened I am that they've made Ichabod into a one dimensional character who not only is unlikeable and unsympathetic but is also a shortsighted dim bulb even though he knows absolutely everything known to man. I don't think I can even articulate how I disheartened I am with Crane's deconstruction. Along with everything else you mentioned--including Abbie's irksome marginalization and lack of any real POV or consistent development outside of being a "kickass mule" who does all the work--it's just too much.

^Grammaeryn, click on the link above and then scroll down to the window shown below at the end of the article. That's the podcast.

^You know what's sad? The show has said that Abbie is the voice of the audience, so if she's rolling her eyes practically out of her head and making WTF faces at three different characters the number of times you stated, then they know this show is a hot mess. They know it and don't care.
-
^That podcast was totally on point. The article was great too, but they really boiled down to its essence what's wrong with SH in the podcast. Excellent observations and basically everything many fans and some other reviewers have been saying. This is the article and podcast the SH showrunners need to read and hear.

I think Crane's eyes widening could be to show a combination of things. One is that he's shocked at what he's seeing: i.e., the all to familiar Abbie head tilt in addition to the Succubus's eyes beginning to glow, indicating that she about to attack. But I don't think it's solely Crane's fear of her attacking him. He might have gotten a bit of a wake-up call about something buried so deep that he's been totally unaware of its existence up to that point. I think it could also be surprise that she did that move with him in full awareness of her MO. She gleans her victims most latent desires, and once having done so accurately, she's endowed with the ability to take their life force. Her eyes beginning to glow right after or at the moment she tilted her head means that she correctly identified Crane's two-fold desires as first, wanting to trust Katrina but being unable to, thus the souring in his heart; and lastly, his wanting Abbie (on some level). I'm not even sure that scene is so much about Crane gaining that tidbit self-awareness as much as it is foreshadowing or a big ass anvil for the audience concerning where things are going to go. But one thing is for sure, that scene had a definite purpose, and it wasn't about some secret desire for his own wife.

^You're spot on. I was intrigued at first with the yoga opening and willing to go along with the flow, but anything Katrina-centric just kills all energy and movement. And unfortunately, the annoyance I feel becomes my overall impression of the entire scene into which she's shorn-horned or even mentioned, regardless of its potential. The followup bar scene, being Katrina-free and all, did restore order and got the show moving again. Katrina is an albatross that will sink this show if they don't get a clue and cut her lose. Interesting about the ratings and the renewal forecasts. I thought the show had lost some of its traction due to the season low ratings of this week and last. Hmmmm.

Southerngirl, thanks for bringing that over. So the Succubus was wearing teal like Abbie and so was mimicking both Katrina and Abbie to Crane. You're really making me have to watch this epi. *sigh* lol Every thing involving Crane seems to just be deteriorating, no? *sigh*
-
You know, thinking back on it, I didn't like the yoga scene either probably because they were still yabbering about Katrina. In the Ichatrina opening, Tom was absolutely better than Katia, but not at his best by a long shot because of both the poor dialogue and his acting partner. Until they get the show back on track (and Katrina free, thus no dialogue about her), maybe they just need to stop doing any of these openings for a while.
-
The Ichatrina cold opening made me cringe. Badly written, poorly acted (Poor Tom) and it sucked momentum out of the show before it'd even gotten underway. Let's not do any of these type scenes with them again. And I too hope the show resists any and all suggestions urging them t continue trying to make Katrina happen. She's not going to happen. Let. It. Go. And I hope Henry/Jeremy goes with her. He's totally overused and doesn't need to be Crane's son either. Be the Horseman of War or be gone. They do need to get back to the core four (and maybe even Andy and/or Luke). And please take Headless's head. Let him be a badass ax wielding bringer of death again.
-
I cannot believe how they're wasting this all too rare kind of chemistry. And I can't bear what they're doing to both Crane and Abbie. It's just...totally insane. If he thinks that having Abbie prop and laud a fainting and generally ineffectual Katrina as some kind asset is going to result in anything outside of making all but Katrina stans roll their eyes incredulously, he's delusional. I saw those gifs too, and its sort of making me want to watch the episode. Yet I don't really want to because I'm disliking Crane so much, and I know I'm going to hate seeing Abbie be relegated to being even more of The Help than she was last week in spite of her truth-telling showdown with Katrina. This show is really making me sad.
-
The show can kicks rocks with those transparent shipper-baiting Ichabbie crumbs. Not for anymore of that. As has been said, I don't like Crane much at all now (even his hair is terrible). He's been shown to be insensitive, ungrateful, disloyal, generally douchey and not too terribly bright. Not a good look. Poor Tom Mison whom I also still love. He deserves better too.
-
And they've got the soap opera annoying staple of propping a useless character down to a T by having other characters inexplicably praising said useless character for virtues that are nonexistent and never shown. I didn't watch the show but the preview I saw with them sucked donkey balls. Katia's breathless whispery delivery and unblinking stare was just horrible. I was distracted by her inhalation of air (and her throat moving) to add more breathiness in the middle of her mini monologue. And the dialogue abominable. I miss headless Headless so terribly. He's another reason I just can't bear to watch anymore. So now they're gonna attempt to make the gorgeous Nikki Beharie a little less desirable? smdh Speaking of hair, Crane's looks terrible to me. I like it pulled back. Is this "bad hair" supposed to stop people from wanting anyone with anyone because they don't look good enough? lol I did follow the live tweeting though. And the one thing I didn't like either is that apparently the show had Abbie validate Katrina as an asset to Team Witness which from what I read is just more disingenuous propping. It's funny, I've watched soaps all my life, and just recently stepped away from the last two I was keeping up with. And Sleepy Hollow is now a soap and, as was stated, not a good one. This is not what I signed on for. They are using all the worst devices that finally made me have to step away from a genre I've watched since I was in diapers. I have no choice but to hope the ratings fall so far and so fast that they have time to turn this sinking enterprise around. That's always been the only thing that worked on soaps, so I hope it happens here because this show has too much potential to remain the wreck that it's fast becoming.

OMG! Somebody on twitter called Katrina "StruggleWitch." LMAO!!!! And then this, CherryCinnaMoon @CherryCinnaMoon 2m2 minutes ago RT '@tara_melissa abbie got 99 problems and that witch ain't one #AbbieMillsDeservesBetter' #SleepyHollow

I miss headless Headless soooooo much!!!!! headless Headless>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Katrina's jilted ex.

I can't wait to hear what Afterbuzz TV's Matt and Jacque have to say about this episode with all of this focus on Hawley and Katrina.
-
I don't think it matters at this point. Clearly, the show has deliberately deviated from what made it popular and turned it into a soap opera--a stupid one at that. So the writing--pun intended--is on the wall. It's sink or swim right now, and they've obviously and callously (looking at you Metzner!) chosen their path. Moreover, if they do get a chance to retaliate--assuming the show isn't cancelled--those fans who're the targets will already be long gone.
