  1. Of course, in real life it takes ... decades... to get a Nobel Prize. Just approximating from wikipedia: Thorne 1984 work - 2017 award (33 years) Smoot - 1989 work - 2006 award (17 years) Arnold 1993 work - 2018 award (25 years) If any of them get a Nobel Prize, I'll be mad! But I do want to see Stuart's other illustrations! And loved Howard's Columbus joke.
  2. I always call them the 'Bangs of Justice!'
  3. I though Siebert was going to say something like that, but it really was Anybody But Sheldon. (Of course, that's a pretty good reason on its own!)
  4. Watched because I like Cedric, Behrs and Greenfield. I'm willing to see where it goes. Might be more interesting if Behrs was a teacher of some of the neighborhood kids. And we'd get more of her that way!
  5. "If you want to know what God thinks of money, look who He gives it to." Not sure if that line is original to the show, but it's a good one... UPDATE: Not original - still good.
  6. Thanks for the tip, krankydoodle! Saw the first two this weekend - good to have the crew back anytime. Thought Dwayne's first turn at detective a little disappointing, but the suit rocked!
  7. I held off watching the last episode till last night. What a smart, goofy series. Bummed it's not continuing. Captain Dave's proposal would have been spectacular, but yeah, he made the right decision. And he even let Alan fly the plane! That's what choked me up! I admit I got pulled in by Ronnie changing her shirt in the very first scene of 1/1, but a really good series. Hope to see everyone again!
  8. Where are Americans seeing Season 7? I don't see it on my PBS stations or Netflix, yet. (Or BBC America)
  9. Argh. I've been Hulu-ing through these - what a fun show! I feel like I've been hit by the Big D
  10. Actually I always thought Abby and Martha from "The Psychic Vortex" were the best matches for both Raj and Sheldon! The show seems to have gone a different route, thought. Too bad they never did more with Danica McKellar, at least.
  11. That was a really weird bathroom. That was one fast-drying t-shirt. Don't tease us, show! Gold The only odd thing for me was the way everyone suddenly discovered police work was dangerous. Rosa is pretty much the definition of 'she can take care of herself' but as the top post notes, the squad 'desperately feared' for her safety. Jake has been undercover with the Mob and on the run from a hitman. Those seem kinda dangerous, too... All in all, very good ep!
  12. Isn't that BBT in a nutshell - brother's plot: Awesome. (O'Connell - perfect, and by the way, speaking as a The Librarians fan, he's a very lucky man.) Pinkeye plot: a complete waste, and fast-forward fodder forever.
  13. Good episode, for all the reasons cited. What jumped out at me though, was Sheldon's reference to 'subtext' in Sturgis and Meemaw's dinner conversation. Has any Sheldon ever showed that much understanding of human communications?
  14. I do like Anthony, but the depths to which he Wuuuuubs Erin is getting to be a bit much. But he and Danny going at it is gold!
  15. Just saw a repeat of "The Sales Call Sublimation" last night, where Raj and Sheldon discover a medium size asteroid - "That’s the chicken fingers on the menu of space". Given how big a jerk Sheldon was about trying to name the asteroid after himself or Amy, I can't (completely) blame Raj for being a jerk. Whether Sheldon and Amy will name all their children Rajesh remains to be seen...
  16. It was definitely a very good amateur telescope, but here's what's been looking for comets lately: PanSTARRS
  17. Denise was nice, but I was a little sorry we didn't see Dale back as Stuart's assistant. And I know it's tv, but it's really hard to discover a comet through an amateur telescope at this point, given the all-sky robotic surveys running continuously (like Pan-STARRS). And Mercury wouldn't be that high in the sky at night (it's always close to the Sun). I did like his 'Lestro' telescope - I wonder if it was a Celestron....
  18. Hey, look! Jamie is a natural as a lawyer. Who knew?
  19. I could see that. But imagine what Rosa and Pimento must have been like!
  20. I definitely found Sheldon to be jerkier than in previous episodes. From blowing off his father's story about the football game, to basically ruining the play for everyone else involved, he was not the sweet and naive kid he's been. Actually, he was a lot more like grown-up Sheldon. And my wife feels exactly the same way Sheldon does about science fair judging, so he's not wrong there.
  21. Agreed. And yet somehow Frank managed to make it even worse. There's another cop out there that not only Knows The Truth, but knows that Frank is now in on the lie. Did Frank mollify him with a 'We made our choice but you're still up for the next big job?" NOO! He dragged him in to humililate him for being a squealer. Wonder how that's gonna pan out...
  22. And a Bond girl, too... I thought Frank was going to have the lying cop come clean before giving him the promotion. Did you catch that Baker caught the problem, and not the Double-G's (is that the first time they've been called that?) And yes, Save Jamie!
  23. I don't know how much I buy the 'Danny financial duress' story. I know about college bills, but compared to most people, NYC detectives are pretty well compensated. And while he doesn't have Linda's salary, he should have gotten a pretty healthy insurance payout for her in-the-line-of-duty passing. He certainly has problems, but he shouldn't be broke.
  24. If Frank is going to fire every cop that makes the department look bad, maybe Danny really should have taken the high-end security job! Kind of a depressing episode. If Nicky had kicked her boss in the crotch, that would have been great, but we didn't even get that. and yes, Buckboard, it looked like the cop had passed the 'Frank test', especially after she bonded with the guy she arrested. I guess Abe Lincoln disagreed!
  25. Where'd the new Governor come from? He's so over-the-top evil I have a hard time seeing him winning an election. Is he supposed to be Cuomo? He seems more like a central-casting Mean Republican, but wouldn't a guy like that looooove Frank? Are we setting up the Vengance of Erin now? "Anthony, go shoot that guy" And agreed with all - there's nothing you can't improve by adding a Ghostbuster.
