  1. The kitchens have always been outside in separate tents during Restaurant Wars. It's because the pop up restaurants the chefs create are never in actual formal restaurant/dining establishments but are rather created in empty warehouse/office spaces seeing as they are only meant to be temporary.
  2. In one of the earlier episodes Nini was traveling with 3 other male chefs (Bryan V. was 1 of them, can't remember the other 2). They were all joking about a CD player in the car and Nini joked about being too young to know what that was. And I think the guys were all dads too and she was referred to as being the "baby" of that group. It's been a bit of a running gag so far this season. Also when they were running into Whole Foods Nini called Bryan V. "Papa Voltaggio" I think it's all in fun!
  3. Danny gave Theo a jewelry box in which to place her wedding ring for the night and Theo gave Danny the VR disc. I think it was meant to symbolize an exchange of sorts......an exchange of vows. They're both getting something they want for that night
  4. I teared up or cried so many times during this episode. Every time Sherlock was protective of Joan I just about died. They telegraphed the killer pretty early on. The press release for this episode listed the character of Hannah, the previously made sure to mention Hannah's roommate's death, and Gregson looked wrecked as fuck when Sherlock approached him at his house that first time. I'm surprised Sherlock didn't notice how weird he was acting then. Also, they definitely either filmed multiple endings or re shot the finale because I came across an article months ago that had filming pics from the finale and Joan clearly had a baby stroller in those pictures. Liu and Miller with the baby stroller Ignore the commentary about the characters getting together and just focus on the picture. I kept expecting Joan to come out with a baby stroller or for her to mention the nanny was watching the baby or something and it never happened. I'm kind of disappointed we won't see a kid running around and now that whole adoption storyline feels like a total waste of time.
  5. Was it ever stated exactly where Allison was getting the money to give to Beth and Cosima??? It seems like she had a lot of disposable income for a family of 4.
  6. The recap from EW suggested Nora threw the rock through the Murphys' window in retaliation because John refused to let Matt back into town. She blames him for Matt staying in the encampment and being in the stocks. That idea works for me!
  7. Don't agree that Harry Potter was harder than Batman in the Charades round. As far as I could tell that team was just miming generic spell/witchcraft terms. I didn't see them get words like "Harry Potter" or "Hogwarts" meanwhile the FOTB team had "Robin", "Bane", "Joker". I don't think there was a clear advantage to the FOTB team.
  8. Agree that is was a lopsided game. I wasn't too impressed with the female civilian but the male civilian was great. Loved the FOTB team. I don't think that prior history/chemistry was too much of an advantage for the FOTB team as most of the games were single contestant games. And both teams did extremely well in the Charades game. MVP definitely goes to Paul Scheer. Love him and am glad he was chosen for the Celebrity Round. In addition to acting, he also has a podcast with his wife actress June Diane Raphael and actor Jason Mantzoukas where they trash bad movies. It's pretty hilarious!!! I recommend it 100%. I actually love Song Sung Wrong. Jane is so cute and gets really into it, plus I like her voice. Looks like a lot of fun for both the players and the audience. Edit: whoops....forgot the name of the podcast. It's called How Did This Get Made? and its on iTunes.
  9. Nate Berkus is pretty awesome. He won $25k for his civilian last season. IDK I like him. But yeah not super impressed with the others :(
  10. They were main characters yes but Amanda, Nolan, and Irisa are "THE" main characters. Grant, Steph, Julie, and then also to a lesser extant Tony and Jaime were the only characters SyFy did any kind of promo for (ads and commercials) leading up to this season. The five above are the only ones interviewed for Defiance's weekly BTS features, etc. I agree with @laagamer. The only way Nolan is getting killed off is if the show is in the last couple of episodes of its final season and TPTB know it's their FINAL season.
  11. Well, like mentioned above Cai is safe and wrote that book. Also one of the Kelovan (keys) is back in his body, the other one is in Irisa. The whole thing last season was that the keys have to remain separated so there is a logical reason why Cai and Irisa wouldn't seek each other out again. Re Sukar and Bertie if we're following the show's storyline then they should both be dead. The Omec told Nolan that when they rescued him and Irisa the pods were about to die. No one rescued any of Irisa's "followers" so they should be pretty dead by this point. Rynn left town after her eye was cut out. I doubt she would be returning to Defiance anytime soon after that horrific experience. In fact, she was only in town a couple of days to get money for her parents' land that the McCawleys stole so why would she ever come back anyway??
  12. IMO, the flashbacks were meant to show that originally baby!Nolan was this tolerant, sort of reluctant, non violent kid and young adult until he joined the war. He idolized his big sister who he basically mimics throughout the entire series if you go back and re watch (the Johnny Cash, "this isn't how I raised you" & "we live or die together" to Irisa). But he lost her due to his fear and inability to act so NOW he's never going to lose someone else he loves again due to their inability to pull the trigger. He's going to drill this thought process into baby!Irisa's head until it sticks hence killing the Casti bounty hunter. Cut to the Nolan the audience knows, who's brash and isn't afraid to kill those if they're putting the people he protects in danger. And about Irisa I think we're meant to learn that she was NEVER comfortable with the violence, the whole pacifism post the destruction of New York is her true self and she's finally admitting it aloud. She was just doing all those things in the past because she loved Nolan so much.
  13. Jude, Callie, and now AJ are meant to be in mandatory summer school, with all their moving around etc, etc they're behind their peers in their studies and testing. And I guess Connor is just not a good student.
  14. Re: the Nolan/Irisa situation Agree with all those who said Nolan did ask her at the beginning of the episode if he would be able to count on her and her flippant response was "Don't be stupid." So I could understand if Nolan was trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. The Syfy Defiance website has an after episode video called Inside Defiance where the cast and the EP talks about the episode. It's a good watch..definitely recommend it but at the end Grant and Steph talk about Irisa and Nolan, where their characters' mindsets are at. Basically Nolan views their partnership from an objective/professional perspective where as Irisa views their partnership from a very personal perspective, like their relationship is heavily based on her "performance". So even though Nolan is 100% right that Irisa shouldn't be in the field because of her PTSD, Irisa thinks of it as a personal affront as though he can't love her the same way if they're not partners (which is probably why she was reluctant to say anything was wrong in the first place). Loved Luke and Irisa bonding. Hopefully they'll get to spend more time together..maybe once Alak gets back in town. Also loved that first scene between Irisa and Nolan with all the sparring. "Daddy's reading." Too fucking cute!!!
  15. Amanda did mention at the beginning of the episode that everyone who had money or a valuable trade had already left Defiance (I'm sure this could include any number of miners) so a large percentage of them may have already left town. Also, apparently a couple of unemployed miners attacked the NeedWant earlier and were shot and injured for their misdeeds so that's also lowering the miners' workforce at the moment. The whole thing this episode was that they needed the Gualanite NOW because the reserves were super low and the stasis net was down (and there was imminent threat of the V.C. coming their way) so they had to get it back up ASAP. There was a time crunch and the Omec seemed to have a substantial amount already ready for use so of course they seemed like the best option. Who knows? Maybe next episode after things have calmed down for a minute there'll be a discussion of whether the town can mine successfully on their own or if they still need the Omec to do the heavy lifting.
