Marriage Boot Camp - General Discussion
Thula replied to David T. Cole's topic in Marriage Boot Camp
Not trolling, but I don't understand how we've jumped to the conclusion that Hank was sexually assaulted. Had he smoked so much weed that he was incapable of giving consent? Doesn't sound that way if he had such a clear recollection of events. He wasn't under any sort of threat of violence, he wasn't trapped. He was sitting on a couch and someone made a move on him and he didn't say no stop i'm out of here. Let's keep in mind Hank is a former (not too long ago) pro football player. He's probably at least 6 inches and 50 lbs heavier than the person he was hanging out with. If he wanted out of that room he would have left. -
Exactly! I thought it was very inappropriate for Kim to be pressing this question. Bruce is very early on in his transition, he doesn't know when or where this will take him, but everyone wants to know the answers RIGHT NOW! Why can't they back off and give him some breathing room?

Bruce Jenner: The Interview (ABC)
Thula replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Specials, TV Movies & Other One-Offs
As happy as I am for Bruce, this whole thing smells like a big publicity stunt. I think he told his kids a couple of years ago when he and Kris separated, and they asked him to wait to transition until after North's first year, the Kim/Kanye wedding....basically until season 10 premiere when they ran out of big lead-in stories to grab viewers. The whole way the Kardashians are showing 'support' for Bruce has PR stamped all over it. They don't participate in the 20/20 special (albeit ABC is a rival network to NBC which owns E!), they wait until after the interview to see which way the wind is blowing and then show support (all of their tweets are basically rewording of same thing). Kris claims she wasn't asked for a comment (BS) and that she was watching the interview live with Bruce. Also a lie, Bruce was watching it with his first wife. Now Kim has launched into her post-interview publicity tour, and the spotlight is right back on the Kardashian Klan. Even Bruce's story about Kanye during the interview felt like a plug. -
My problem with Tony is that he is supposed to be the most sympathetic (as he is the main) character in this story. But he's proven to be a total psychopath! Anyone with that short of a fuse, coupled with the drink, would surely be abusive toward his wife and child, or at least very neglectful. I can't conflate world's greatest Dad with a guy who puts another man in the hospital because the dude 'may' have kissed his wife. It's Tony's world and we're all just living in it. Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't eventually find Olly alive, his first words to the boy would be "I told you to stay put, you little shite!"

Isn't 'In Touch Weekly' the same tabloid that Tori has an ongoing partnership with? Why would they risk publishing Mary Jo's $hit-talking unless this reveal had been blessed somehow by Tori&Dean enterprises to drum up viewers for the finale? I felt the finale was kinda weak. Nothing was wrapped up (possibly to lead into a 3rd season) however there wasn't one story arc completed other than Dean begging off involvement in future seasons. How can another season exist without their relationship conflict? Will Tori be forced to seek out real employment other than exploiting her family? THAT is a show I would like to see. Is it possible that Dean is either this smart, or has had great advice from his therapist, that his decision to not appear in future episodes of True Tori will force her to deal with her issues instead of publicly pointing the blame back at Dean?

No one is going to buy that garbage. Even in a climate controlled environment, things have a tendency to deteriorate after that much time. The one crate i recall her opening held what looked to be cheap barbie knock-offs and low-grade-carnival stuffed animals. Tori might be able to sell off her old clothing, but how many 90 lb DD cup women do you know (#1) who'd be willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for an outfit (#2) Tori wore once - 15 years ago - that's covered in pet hair and shedding hair extensions? It would cost more for Tori to organize and advertise the sale, than what she would recoup from the sale of the stuff in storage. There are no precious jewels, antiques, or Aaron spelling memorabilia in that hoard. She would have hocked that long ago. Now, she could pay to take it all to the dump, and save the $6K a month she spends stashing that stuff, but that's barely going to keep her and her family in lifestyle she believes is due to her.

No kidding! I didn't see that in the supermarket checkout line yesterday. I read the snippets from RadarOnline. I'm surprised Mary Jo would sink to Tori's level like that unless she's sore about the way she was portrayed on the show. I thought MJ was better than that. :( She can't chastise Tori and Dean for taking cheap shots at Jack while she's firing cannonballs over the bow back at them. MJ signed the release for Jack to appear in the show (and has done so before). Now MJ is sucked into this cycle of peddling every petty grievance to the tabloids. I hope she learned her lesson, stay FAR away from Casa Spelling.

That whole segment when she came back from her wine country trip i couldn't help but think the soda can i was drinking out of could have fit perfectly between the chasm betwixt her silicone fun bags. I mentioned this earlier, and still believe her hospital stay was a front to fix the boob botch and possibly something else.

I'm so sorry wanderwoman, for your loss.

Chunks of B.S. I've had both sinusitis and brochitis several times. You go to the doc, you get some antibiotics, and you go home. 1-2 sick days max. You go back to work. Also, that "hospital room" is suspect. What hospital allows not only a camera crew, but a dog? It didn't even look like a real hospital room. As a celebrity in a LA hospital Tori would have had a private room, and the private rooms are not that bare bones. She didn't look or sound like she was sick (not congested, no legit coughing, used tissues strewn about) I see what she did here: Antibiotics render your birth control pill in effective that month. She can "accidentally" get pregnant again. New season. More tabloid coverage. B.S on the pig rescue. No one is going to slaughter a recently pregnant pig or a tiny piglet. Mamma pig exhausted her fat reserves feeding her fetuses, and newborn pigs have no meat. Nice try. B.S on Dean = super dad. A table of 7 - 2 year olds sitting down to a meal is total chaos no matter what time of the day. The kids behaved because they were prompted to and a camera crew was there. Tori's strained relationship with her own mother is because Candy is over Tori's drama. Candy calls Tori to the table, and makes her accountable for her decisions. Some may call it tough love. I call it being a responsible adult. Tori can't manipulate Candy, so Candy is useless to her. The PR firm ditched Tori because her cost to the firm outweighs the revenue. An X dollar payment for a 5 minute stint on Access Hollywood isn't making the PR firm any money if they have to have a fleet of employees track Tori down all week, reschedule interviews, and deal with her excuses and general prima-Donna-ness. Was this the season finale? Will there be a "reunion" or "Bonus" show (garbage pasted together off the editing room floor)?

I don't see why a professional human trafficking enterprise would take such a huge risk and abduct a relatively affluent (compared to the rest of the world) child in broad daylight whose parents are likely just a few feet away at a busy park, and then hold the kid overnight in the same town that's likely swarming with Police and vigilant citizens. Wouldn't they target victims who won't be missed right away?

DakotaLavendar, if you search, you can find UK recaps of episode 6 online, and episode 7 airs over there Tues night, if you want to get ahead. I did that myself with episode 5 but found I needed to watch it because the jumping around in time doesn't translate very well to a play-by-play recap.

Because cameras are there. Does anyone know if this has been picked up for a Season 3? This just occurred to me......does anyone think this whole Mary Jo bonding exercise might be setting her up to be a regular for the next season? I know it's kinda random, but I remember when Tori came back from her meeting with Mary Jo over the note, and Dean flipped out and declared that he didn't want Mary Jo on the show "anymore", like there was some longer term plan to bring her into future storylines. Maybe reading a little too much into it. Did anyone see the Access Hollywood on Tuesday where Tori was plugging this week's episode? Apparently Dean was somewhere in the studio but refused to come and talk to Billy & Kat because of their parody reading of Dean's love note to Mary Jo a few weeks ago.

Since we know Tori employs nannies, wouldn't the agency that staffed them be able to help place temporary help? The nanny agencies vet out potential candidates so that is a much smarter route than finding your own help off craigslist or pulling in rando acquaintances. There is a big difference between "babysitting" a couple of kids after school and "babysitting" 4 kids between the ages of 7 and 2, and a recent rehab-er probably doesn't have the skill set at this point to handle that level of responsibility. So why would Dean bring a woman to the house that Tori doesn't like, and film all of this, like Tori would never find out? Did this even happen? Tori would have known the film crew would be at her house that day so Dean would be on good behavior. We didn't see the text messages or exactly what Dean was ripping up. Look at how long TT dragged out the Charlie storyline this season just to have him not appear on camera. All of that bother over Tori's boobs last episode and the topic is dropped. 2 episodes ago, Dean bans Mary Jo from future appearances on the show, and here she is again at the party like nothing happened. This whole season, if not the whole series just seems like a bunch of smoke and mirrors.

Wouldn't Tony be the living embodiment of the worst experience of her life? Ergo why she divorces him? He didn't keep an eye on Olly. On the other hand, Mark really hasn't done much of anything yet in terms of the investigation. He doesn't speak French, really, so he's kinda useless. He just sits around the police station in 2006 looking at photos of Emily. He's just kinda a blank canvas Emily can project whatever she wants, onto.

I'm confused. Tatum would have had to sign a release to appear on camera so I doubt Tori and Dean had NO idea she would be there. They would have had to have the release signed in advance because the camera crew is not going to film someone without a release and then awkwardly have to blur their face and voice out when they edit all of those scenes. Anyhool, i think Candy brought Tatum to make Tori jealous but I don't think it worked! Tori was more jealous of Candy and Mary Jo exchanging numbers. Did Tori make any effort to really hang out with her mom (after all Tori was the hostess)? For all of Tori's histrionics over Dean's bad parenting, I haven't seen her do any real parenting herself this season. She's hiding in her bedroom during her 3 year old's party, and generally doing nothing else but berating her husband and self indulging in her "therapy" and feeling sorry for herself. Why wasn't she concerned about leaving Dean "alone" with the kids during her two extended hospital stays this year? Is leaving leaky recalled breast implants in your body risking your health despite your doctors' urging to remove them - exemplary good parenting?

SPOILER from Episode 4 and Title of Episode 5: I really hope Ian isn't a red herring. The writers have spent so much time weaving this man into the 2006 investigation that it would be a huge waste just to abandon him as a suspect. He seems to have friends in high places and more money than he knows what to do with so it is likely he could be involved in just about anything and be able to cover it up since he seems to have the entire town on his payroll. On the other hand, if he took Olly, it would have been a very risky abduction and he seems way too even keel in the days after Olly's disappearance. Ian is my prime suspect at this point, and I think Vincent has information that will solve this case that even Vincent may not be aware of yet. The construction, abandoned buildings, something Ian said earlier about "making the old - new"....and then there is this: "Molly" (Ian's missing daughter from probably decades ago) and "Olly". Names are too similar.

So thaaaaaats why she was 'hospitalized' several weeks ago....gettin the antique implants removed. Much more histrionic to dress it up as Ebola/pneumonia/migraine. Tori and Dean have a staff of nannies. I doubt either of them have had to take care of their brood without help for more than a week, EVER. in Tori's mind, she manages the nannies and kid schedules so she feels like she's doing the heavy lifting. dean is laying back and enjoying having a full time staff to tend to the more tedious aspects of parenting young kids and he'll swoop in from time to time to make the kids s'mores for breakfast or pull them out of school for an entire day for a haircut because he's fun Dad. This guy coasted through life on charm and smarm and basic cable-leading-man good looks. If he gave a crap about his career, he would hit the treadmill, cover up those gawdawful sleeve tattoos (not hating, he got them all done after 40 ) and step away from the bottle. his face is bright purple like he's still hitting the booze.

That video was so gross. How awkward was it to see Tori looking the interviewer up and down, chug-a-lugging on her drink hoping for liquid courage to set in. THEN she drunkenly blasts out that dig on Mary Jo in front of her Canadian audience!! Kudos to Mary Jo for hanging in there. Clearly this video is pretty old as Dean is much thinner and Tori seems to have more flesh on her face, but Mary Jo has not aged one minute. Can't wait for tonight's episode, I'll try to stay awake. Another thing that has been bugging me....I have a few family and close friends who have been recovering from addiction over the last few decades, and rule #1 of AA or Al-anon is like fight club. You don't talk about it. It removes the anonymity and also puts your fellow AA'ers at risk of being "outed" or at the very least is very triggering to them. If Dean was really attending AA, and if you believe the paparazzi are stalking Tori and Dean as much as they'd like you to believe, would you keep attending those meetings for fear of being photo'd? Or that Dean would use a story you shared as fodder for his reality show? At the very least, someone in that organization would have told him to 'cool it' on the AA talk by now.

The preview of Dean's scripted meltdown on next week's episode already has me up in arms: *Dean will slander Mary Jo as being 'cRaZy' because Mary Jo called Tori and Dean out for labeling her as cRaZy over the years (and provided a love note Dean wrote to her a short time before he left her for Tor) *Mary Jo called Tori out for blaming Dean for the 'Mary-Jo-is-cRaZy' perception, and then Dean will now be validating Mary Jo's accusation of the 'Mary-Jo-is-cRaZy' perception by calling Mary Jo, cRaZy directly, ON CAMERA. *Tori will stand back and let Dean dig is own grave further validating her claim to Mary Jo - that she wasn't a party to the 'cRaZy' accusations Dean hurled at Mary Jo all of these years. Who went into the hospital for a supposed 5150 hold? The 'cRaZy' lady? No. They have control over what airs - how do they not see how ridiculous this all is?

The $600M is likely gross, not net, and is mostly tied up in investments, tax shelters, and business that involve other partners or entities (at least $100 mil was in Spelling manor which has since been sold). It's not likely there were double-digit millions of dollars laying around in a vault to just hand out. In order for Aaron to have willed his kids - oh let's just say - $5 to $10 mill each in one lump sum, he would have had to liquidate assets or sign the investments or his share in the businesses over to the kids. If they ran those investments into the ground, it would likely have impacted or bankrupted others and possibly let to lawsuits etc. While it is not unusual for a child to take over a deceased parent's role in a business, typically they are trained well in advance and have been working alongside the parent for a while. Also, $800K is a pretty specific number so likely it was what remained after inheritance tax and other fees or services. Aaron probably gave them some stuff too - heirlooms, car, boat, rental properties, etc. Oh and then he also gave Tori her whole career, and a $1 million wedding only to have her walk out on the marriage a year later, so there's that. It is also quite unusual for a child to get an inheritance from a deceased parent as long as the other parent is still alive and was married to the deceased up until the end. Children don't typically inherit unless the last living parent passes away or their parents were divorced prior and part of the inheritance goes to the widow(er) step-parent and the rest to the biological children of the deceased to keep it "in the family". If Tori or Randy had children before Aaron passed away there may have been a clause in the will to provide for them as well, maybe why Tori and Dean rushed their relationship along.

Not to mention, Emily appears to have dropped off the face of the earth so poses no threat to 'Tori&Dean'. Mary Jo didn't even get an opportunity to work things out with Dean in therapy or hem and haw for a few months deciding whether or not she wanted to stay in or leave the marriage. The choice was made for her. Why Tori can't see the distinction is mindblowing. Regarding the birthday party: They made this out like it was thrown together at the last minute but in order to secure all of the permits and valet and rent all of that crap, planning must have taken a couple of months. Why didn't anyone send out evites and request RSVP? It wasn't like a kegger where who ever shows up shows up. It was a birthday party at the house of a family with small kids. Wouldn't Jack's classmates/friends have to have their parents OK to be filmed or be on a set (insurance purposes?)

Mary Jo probably seems "off" in comparison because she's the only person on the show who isn't acting. I'm still firmly of the belief that Emily Goodhand is fiction, and possibly Dean's rehab/sobriety journey, as well as Tori's numerous health scares and Mommy-Martyrdom. But Mary Jo went through some real hell and continues to go through it every time one of these two publishes a book, gets a reality show picked up, or sells a story to the tabloids. When the camera goes off, Tori and Dean can high five each other and count their money. Mary Jo is conveying nearly a decade of hurt and humiliation into a few minutes of airtime. According to Mary Jo, Dean was always a douche. She doesn't go into detail but in her book "Divorce sucks" she refers to mini bombs going off during her marriage (which I took to mean cheating) and that she always knew the "Hiroshima" was coming. As much as I like her, I can't help but wonder what her issues are that she'd put up with him for so long. And he was the one who walked out. She doesn't strike me as a doormat, and she certainly wasn't in the marriage for money or fame (ahem).

Yes!! She's a 41 year old child and can't hold down a normal adult conversation unless it's about her favorite topic - Tori. Dean would have been in his early 20's when 90210 first season aired. The first two seasons were more like late-running afterschool specials with story lines that revolved around getting caught cheating on a test or teenagers fumbling through their first relationship experiences - very PG stuff - and definitely not something a 23 year old guy would tune in to. I was in late high school at the time too, and Donna Martin/Tori Spelling was kinda the joke of the show. On top of her horendous acting, obvious nepotism, her face is not exactly camera friendly. Like no one could believe a cute guy like David Silver would be into that especially if he wasn't gettin' some. If most guys had to rank the cast members they would bang, Tori would be tied for last place with the guy who ran the pizza joint. On the other hand, Donna Martin was always the damsel in distress and the delicate flower/good girl so i could see some attraction in the later seasons once she lost her V-card and Aaron Spelling allowed the writers to sex her character up a bit. A guy with Dean's self esteem issues would fancy himself a knight in shining armor, swooping in to save the princess. I think he likes to see Tori sad so he can blow a bunch of smoke up her ass and sing her a lame song and go pat himself on the back (weiner).

Looks like this Tuesday's episode might be the one where the snake finally eats its own tail. Tori returns from her meeting with Mary Jo and Dean flips out calling Mary Jo crazy, delusional, manipulative, and finally breaking the 4th wall by flipping the viewing audience the double-bird. What a big bloated baby. I suspect this is why Mary Jo finally relented to be on the show (that and the $10K). She knew Dean was going to have a toddler-tantrum reaction to her scene (either scripted or real). I feel so bad for his teenage son having to endure this humiliation for now a second - and i hope final - season.
