Another category could be whales. I really can't see a whale being killed by that little gun. Dinosaurs would probably be tough to kill with it, too. Megafauna in general. But Megafauna are probably not included in the Big 5, if I'm being honest.

The Colt did look like it was making the box glow, but I think that was just a hat-tip to Pulp Fiction.

rue, you are truly insane! One of the many reasons I love you!

Loved the "tip of the hat" to Pulp Fiction! Just watched it the other night, so it really got us.

Crowley definitely gave the colt to Ramael.  That was his special gift in the box that Crowley gave him in the scene from 6 years ago.  It was the same box that Mary took from the safe.

So these Prince's of Hell...have they ever been mentioned before, or is this just another slight twist to the lore for the sake of drama?  I don't remember ever hearing about them before.

I did look like someone was looking in the window at Mary and Ketch.  It could have just been an attempt at an interesting shot, but I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that it was Cas.  There's a reason they had him ask that question about what was supposed to have been stolen.  Mary's secret isn't going to be a secret for long, I don't think.

Well, we did have the "Knights Of Hell", so why the fuck not?

I agree about someone watching. Had to be Cas!

First of all, the Colt was originally *from* the past.  It stayed in its proper time frame and didn't move at all.  So all that they did was get it from Colt and arranged (not on purpose) that Elkins picked it up and left it to his descendants.  Everything else just followed naturally:   Elkins the bartender picked it up, and Dean borrowed it from Daniel Elkins who then retrieved it from the Campbells at the end of In the Beginning (Dean told Elkins where it would be); then, um...the vampires killed Elkins and got the gun, and John got it from the vampires and gave it to Azazel who used it to open the Devil's Gate, and Dean picked it up and used it to kill Azazel; but it was out of bullets until Ruby came along and gave them some more...until Bela stole it and gave it to Crowley, who gave it back to the boys in Abandon All Hope, where it failed to kill Lucifer and they left it behind. so...sheesh.  My head hurts.  Causality loops, I think.  If the boys hadn't gotten the gun from Colt and left it behind, then Elkins wouldn't have picked it up and kept it for future generations.

ETA:  I have to write faster.  Thanks, Katy M.

My question is:  Do we know what the "five beings in all creation" that the Colt can't kill are? I would have assumed God and Death, but we know it can't kill Lucifer, so no archangels?  Wouldn't that be more than 5? Or does that mean archangels are stronger than death?  And would a half-archangel also be immune?

I think it's five specific beings. We know Lucifer, so by extension Michael I would guess. But that would mean no archangels, and they're are several. Add Amara and God... oh Hell I don't know! Damn all of you for driving my crazy with this!!

Loved this episode though! Mick called The Colt from the beginning, so I hate him tonight.

I honestly would be stunned if they killed Cas off, so I'm really not expecting that.  This show has certainly surprised me before, but unless Misha had asked to be written off the show for some reason, I don't see them doing it.  Misha has a huge fanbase, and I think the backlash would be seriously detrimental to the show and it's ratings.  If they plan to be back next year, which they do, why would they shoot themselves in the foot that way?  That certainly doesn't preclude them from totally screwing with his character again, since they do that all the time.  I guess we'll see what happens.

I agree. The fans go nuts when Cas isn't in several episodes in a row, so I think killing him off would be a deal-breaker for the fence sitter fans.

I'll stick with this show to the very end, Mick and I are fans from day one, it's "our" show. But please, don't screw with Cas! I want badass Cas back!

I got bored and I was in a fact gathering mood so I present to you guys a list of recurring characters on Supernatural and how many episodes they've featured in. This is up to date as of the episode Defending Dean.  I wasn't sure where to post this so apologies if this is the wrong place.

Wow Wayward Son! Great list. I'm so happy you joined us here!

    Thank you.

So, this is a quote from Mr Pink (Steve Buscami) in Reservoir dogs.  Now add the diner scene (ALSO very Reservoir Dogs) and a previous spoiler about this being a movie homage AND....

    - We're likely to start in media res with Cas bleeding and dyind (RD)

    - hop back to the diner

    - and keep visiting Cas's near death while the episode jumps around showing out of sequence build up scenes

I now feel definitely better. Cas may have permanent damage but he is gonna live.

If you haven't seen RD, definitely worth it.

I knew I recognized that line! Didn't know about the homage though. Thanks SueB!

Honestly Rule, I have to stop reading your posts! You make some great points, but make my head hurt!

The canon discrepancies drive me nuts enough, now you add a new one?!

But I think there's one other point many people don't really take into account:  the family motto: "Saving People, Hunting Things."  I think Sam has more wins in terms of "saving people," Dean more with "hunting things."  They set that up way back in season 1, partly because Sam was supposed to be kind of rusty at hunting, so Dean was the better hunter; but when Sam started feeling the need for redemption, "saving people" became his main cause, and the reason he and Dean butted heads so much.

This is one great point! Ahrtee, you said what I've been thinking but couldn't articulate. Thank you!

I like it when they bicker about trivial things too. I wish that had been the entire scene and they left out all the weird competitive flirting.

Yes! One of my favorite moments is when Bobby is dying and reliving his favorite memory, which is Sam and Dean bickering about "Chuck Norris vs..."

I rewatched the last part of that episode recently, and I could have sworn I saw Lucifer's light go down the vent, not just into the egg - if into the egg at all.  So, yeah, I'm not totally sold on the idea of Deviled Egg (hee hee!) at all.

I agree about the vent, but "Deviled Egg?" Won the internet for me! Thanks for the laugh Ruler!

Regarding the impact of Gavin not dying.... to me the biggest impact was finding out where Crowley's bones were buried and thus saving Bobby.  Other than that, whether he be at the bottom of the sea or in the future, he stopped having an impact on the timeline in 1723.  OTOH, he exists TODAY which changes the future.... but that's sort of okay.

And they never justified the Bobby gaffe IMO.  Sure, you could say Bobby would have found a different way to get to Crowley's bones... but then Rufus wouldn't have swallowed the ring and I loved just about everything in that episode.

Rufus swallowing the ring constantly sends Mick into hysterical laughter!

Depending on the day, Mick is either 8 or 12 years old, but I'm used to it.

Dude that is NOT NICE :P

I got hustled playing pool on Saturday and man, it sucked. I'm an awful pool player, so I don't really care about losing. But it was this one girl's date and his friends who hustled us, which I thought was unnecessarily mean of them. What really rubbed me the wrong way was that the date played horribly as long as he was on the girl's team, but as soon as we started playing "guys against girls" and he was on his boys' team, his playing became phenomenal. I mean, he was doing trick shots ffs. He jumped the cue ball over our ball in order to get his ball into a corner pocket! He hit two balls at once, and they went into opposite pockets! It was crazy. I told him that it was not cool that he only played well when he was playing against his girl. And that he was a liar who apparently can't be trusted. I dunno, the girl herself is kind of screwy so I'm not even going to say they're a terrible match or whatever, but I wouldn't be dating his lying ass, I can tell you.

Ah Rue! I rarely played for money, and if I did, it was for 5 bucks or so. I understand why you're pissed, but please, don't think less of me! I respect you a lot, and would hate to think I lost yours!

    Thank you, @Mick Lady!

I appreciate the support. Whenever I wonder if it's worth it to keep on writing, I remind myself how much you enjoy it, and that helps.

You know I put that spider line in the last chapter, because of you, right? I know, I know... I'm a bitch. ; )

    Oh God!

I had a spider crawl down my arm once though, and it was the softest, most feather light thing I ever felt. Fortunately, I was outside at the time, and just gently put him back in the grass. I'll never forget that feeling!

On my face, not so much! I'd freak!!!!

Pat's a big fan now, and I'll make sure she comments.

I felt a bit that way on first watch but on my 2nd viewing, I picked up on a lot more nuance in Jensen's role. He was shifting on a dime from funny to a more serious moment even before the bathroom scene. Like when he couldn't remember which key to use. IMO he was freaked out despite pretending to Sam or even not realizing he wasn't remembering.

I thought Jensen did amazing work with making me believe those moments when Dean really had no concept of monsters and witches or Sam or Rowena. That it was never even a thought in Deans mind. It felt completely authentic that Dean not remembering was not played as Dean forgetting but more like those were completely new things /experiences for Dean. Its hard to articulate what I mean but just give him all the damn awards.

I expected a reaction like Kevin's (in "Reading Is Fundamental") when the boys, Meg, and Cas were talking after Cas "woke up" and the demons and angels showed up, and Kevin screamed "What is going on here!?" or something like that...

Multiple decks. In a high-stakes backroom game, they are probably playing with 5 decks at a time.  So unless someone has been counting Ace's, they won't know. Plus I noticed she played with all men.  Kept them distracted with her little 'I'm a silly beginner' routine.

I've hustled a ton of people with pool! I've worked at stables all through my younger days, and they all had pool tables for the grooms in the break room, and I've spent may a rainy day playing pool, and became very good at it. For the boy's (and me!) that's not cheating, you just blow the first few games, than run the table. It's done all the time. I think Dean would love Rowena and her poker playing! I also think they'd make an awesome couple!

I too want the "Mega Coven!" Rowena has become one of my favorites on this show.

  16. Anyone who hasn't read Awesom0400's fan fic, should give it a try! Start from the beginning, it's worth it!

Not sucking up Awesom, but I love your take! Not enough are reading it. Everyone of my friends I've sent it to, love it! My sister just e-mailed me and said "Who is this woman? Has she written anything else?" Didn't have the heart to tell her about the spiders. She shares my terror!

One fun game is to watch for the moment in each episode where Jessica is struck all over again by the depths of his haplessness along with the realization that she loves him and is stuck bailing him out again anyway.

This is a fun article from 2014 explaining the addictive awesomeness of the show...I plan to send it to friends who just don't "get" why I love it so much :)

Thank you for this link amensisterfriend, I've been running into you a lot lately! Aren't you on Bate's Motel too?

If you love mysteries, check out Martha Grimes. Next to Agatha, she's my favorite!

  18. I can't believe I just found this forum! I used to watch this show with my Grandmother, and when I saw it was on Hallmark, got hooked all over again!

The best part is, Mick has fallen in love with it too, so I'm now watching it with my husband! He buys me a season on DVD for every occasion, and we love watching them together. It's so refreshing after all the doom and gloom on T.V. these days!

I'm guessing we're only allowed to discuss this final episode in this thread, so just to let you guys know, I asked some general revival questions in the "all episodes" thread!

Ha! Yeah, it's kind of hard not to view it that way :) I'm very interested to hear how people interpreted the (non)-ending between her and Logan: whether we're supposed to see the Lorelai/Christopher parallels and therefore feel like Rory/Logan aren't meant to be, or whether we're supposed to believe/want/expect etc. that maybe they'll eventually get together...? I get that we're supposed to applaud Rory for deciding to go through this pregnancy on her own (though she'll obviously have her mom and Emily for anything she needs), but I couldn't help being reminded of what Anna did to Luke by not telling him he was a father and wonder if she's going to go that route by never telling Logan.

As for Jess, I have to agree with Junie: I didn't see any indication that she had romantic feelings for him, and this is coming from someone who'd have preferred that she end up with Jess over Logan. But of COURSE Jess is still holding some sort of torch for her because...well, she's RORY! (*sigh*)

The LL ending was...fine? I'm sure if I shipped them I'd have thought it was one of the best things about the revival, but they seemed as lacking in chemistry and joy to me through the most of the revival as they did through most of their time together on the series, so I'm not as excited about it as I should be.

I'll ramble about my overall thoughts on the All Episode thread and hope to see you guys there!

Hey amensisterfriend! Tried to PM you but couldn't find the link. Where is the All Episode thread? Couldn't find it for the life of me!

That was at Casey's, which was in Stars Hollow all of season 7 but never mentioned in earlier seasons.  It sounded like there was no bar in Stars Hollow before then.

Thanks shron17! I can remember stuff like that about Supernatural, but GG not so much.

Well, there's this from Richard in Stars Hollow:

And this from I Get a Sidekick Out of You, though they don't say what town they're in.  I guess you could say DR didn't have continuity in season 7 as easily as ASP didn't in the revival.  I think the Secret Bar is perfect for Stars Hollow, too bad they didn't do that from the start.

What I first thought of, was Jackson and Christopher going out for a beer. Did they drive to Woodbury for that?
