  1. This interview with Chip: http://tvline.com/2014/12/10/nashville-season-3-spoilers-charles-esten-deacon-unconscious/...don't like the last couple of paragraphs, but some good perspective on the rest. I REALLY hope that Deacon doesn't drink, I'd be very disappointed.
  2. And as we found out the other week, he timed his proposal to maximize her album sales. VERY romantic ;)
  3. I don't think it was Jolene's death per se, but more Juliette's reaction that had him back on his heels before the paternity reveal. Juliette laid into him when he came to the door after he heard the news, she blamed him, and yelled at him for sticking his nose in everybody else's business trying to be the good guy. He didn't drink after this, it was the fact that both Rayna and Coleman hid this secret from him that pushed him into that bar. I think he felt like he'd lost everyone he was close to at that point. Had I been in his shoes I would have been hittin' the sauce too, but then I'm not an alcoholic ;) It's been well established that Deacon does have a problem dealing with his anger, though to be fair he's been pushed around a lot. Teddy and Lamar at the fundraiser, and the jerk who tried to assault Scarlett on the tour to name two examples. Especially in the last instance, that hit was deserved, though he should have just picked up his guitar and left the fundraiser. He's done pretty well this season, not lashing out when Luke came to hit him behind the Bluebird, and no killing of inanimate objects that I can recall. As far as his career and relationships, I don't think he had much interest in a solo career. He enjoyed playing some nights at the Bluebird, but he was Rayna's bandleader and collaborator first and foremost. I don't think he wanted anything else at the time. And relationship-wise, I think his heart has always been with Rayna. He may have actively dated other women, even gotten involved with them, but none of them were her. I don't think it had anything to do with his day-to-day management of his addiction (which staying up all night and turning the pills over to Coleman was), rather it was his inability to give his heart fully to anyone else that was the problem. Edited: because spelling is gud!
  4. Just watched the SAG show again, and if that wasn't Kate Hudson it was her twin.
  5. For Deacon, I think the tropiest would have been cirrhosis. This is just tropier ;)
  6. I was so hopeful there too. Back when he came to the house to give Maddie the guitar, I really thought I was seeing Season 1 Deacon back on my screen. He told her how much he didn't recognize her life anymore, flat out, just like he would have back then. I literally cheered. Then they had to go and ruin it with that final scene of him bowing yet again to her and Rayna lambasting him for it. It was awful. I want to write hate tweets to the writers awful.
  7. Well if the goal was to make the audience hate Rayna, they've succeeded with this viewer. She's known for a while now that she sold out her relationship with Deacon to save Maddie, yet she can't be bothered to tell him until the day it hits the newstand?? And she very clearly doesn't want any of what Luke's selling for Xmas, yet she just goes along with it. And then rather than treating Deacon with even an ounce of warmth when he admits that he hasn't moved on, she just goes ahead and yells at him. I hope D tells her to take a long walk off a VERY short pier when she inevitably comes back around. Loved crazy Juliette. I wish her scene with Deacon hadn't been cut, but she and Avery just light up around each other and I love them. Glad to see Zoey moving on. And nice to see Scarlett back on stage where she belongs. She doesn't need to play arena tours to be a successful musician. Liked Terry's song, but I still feel like we're stuck with the magical negro storyline - this is how Scarlett gets her mojo back. I actually liked Layla with Jeff and vice versa, they both seemed more real than they ever have before. Felt a bit badly for Will, taking coffee into her only to find that she hadn't been home. I think he's grown to genuinely care about her, even if he isn't in love with her. Curious to see what next week brings and if Rayna really goes through with marrying the douchebag.
  8. I remember reading a spoiler about an issue between Luke and Rayna over his questionable parenting decisions. Supposed to happen before the wedding. May be that that's what she's reacting to.
  9. Just saw a trailer for a movie called The Age of Adaline. Her very hot lover is Liam, and really, it doesn't get much hotter than that, does it?
  10. I think we have seen it actually. This is the same guy who embezzled funds from his company, cheated on his wife with Pig Blood Peggy, and watched while his children's grandfather died on his office floor. While Teddy has been the stay-at-home steady for the girls, he's not a saint by any stretch of the imagination.
  11. I saw Connie on GMA this summer when she was promoting her movie. They of course asked about Nashville and the big summer cliffhanger, whether Rayna made a decision or not. She gave a very tight-lipped response, saying that oh yes, there would be a decision. Period. Nothing more and a very clear nod to the interviewer not to go any deeper down that road. She didn't seem like the happiest of campers, to say the least. My guess is she doesn't like Rayna's storyline any more than we do.
  12. My jaw hit the floor when Luked claimed all of Rayna's wins because of the perfect timing of his proposal. He really showed his ass last night and I was appalled that Rayna went on to thank him in her final award speech for his love and support. I swear she looked like a zombie in the bedroom with him later. If this doesn't dissuade her from marrying him, what will? Surely not Deacon's little love profession in the promo. Maybe Luke breaks up with her because of the Rolling Stone article? Loved Juliette and Avery, especially her sly little smile when he left after unzipping her dress. He's back ;) Layla is going to try to kill herself. I was surprised Will didn't win best new artist, Sadie's hardly been around. Bad night all around for Edgehill. Loved Deacon and Scarlett, but I'm really upset at the preview of him throwing himself at Rayna again. She's treated him like garbage all season, time to move on from this shell of the woman you fell in love with. Would have liked to have seen at least one scene from the big fishing trip, miss Deacon and Maddie scenes. Glad Zoey left. Now to get her to actually go to LA.
  13. But given that Maddie and Deacon were the one's with the most to gain/lose out of this bargain, they should have had priority consideration. Instead it was Teddy and Rayna who came first here. Teddy because he didn't want anyone knowing Maddie wasn't his, and Rayna? I know why initially, but can't for the life of me understand why the lie had to continue as long as it did. Being someone's "Uncle Deacon" is far different from being their father.
  14. I agree with you Madam. I fully understand Rayna's actions initially, Deacon was still drinking and was in no shape to be a father to his daughter. But after 3 years of consistent sobriety? That's the time to tell him and see how he responds, offer to let him spend time with his child at their house, eventually moving to a full-out father/daughter relationship if it works out. Maddie was young and the impact wouldn't have been nearly as great at that point as it is now. She'd have simply grown up knowing that she has two Dads, and Deacon would have at least had the opportunity to have some time with his girl while she was still little. The biggest mistake on Rayna's part for me is the fact that she wasn't even planning to come clean once they got back together in Season 1. She's professed her love and devotion, but doesn't love him enough to tell him the truth. He may have had the same reaction had he heard it from her, but now we'll never know. Hearing it from Maddie was the worst case scenario for both of them and she owes them both that apology.
  15. And some serious shout-outs to Chip and Connie who make us (or me at least) feel that virtually every time they're on screen together. How two people who never knew each other before the show started make that happen, I don't know, but I'm grateful for it and can't help wanting more of it!
  16. I know. "I feel like I need a shower." ??? Why, because she threw Deacon under the bus or because it's just so horrid to talk about the man? I'm just not getting her right now. RS IS a big deal, but she could have set some ground rules with the reporter at the outset and avoided most of the turmoil she created in her weekend off. I hate Luke, but I don't blame him for being ticked at her. And don't get me started on her shaming of Maddie after being found kissing Colt. Colt is not her brother, Luke and Rayna are not married, and she was in her own home. Rayna's the one who had to drag the reporter along to witness the event. I'm curious about what she said to the reporter. It felt to me like some scenes that should have been there ended up on the editing room floor due to the time constraints of a bloated cast. I never heard the reporter even ask about Deacon, though that should have been one of his first questions when talking about her musical history. And spoilers had him badgering Deacon, though there was only the one phone call. At this point I hope Deacon tells her to take a hike if she actually dares to come back to him. And I hope he points out to her just how different she is since the accident and her father's death. It's time for her to take her head out of her @ss. Worried about Deacon and his health, love the scenes between him and Scarlett though - and that he kept hollering for her to do things for him. Missed a Deacon/Maddie connection in this episode. Just showing that they're texting during Luke's weekend of family fun would have been good. Can't imagine that she wouldn't want to see/talk to him after he's been gone all this time. Glad to see Avery coming back to Juliette. Those two really work together and her smile when he wrapped his arms around her in Lamaze class was stellar. Micah/Gunnar/Kiley/Zoey - what a mess - the sooner this storyline is over, the better. Scarlett and the homeless guy drives me nuts. It really does feel like a Magical Negro storyline, with him helping Scarlett get her groove back. I'm glad it's happening, but I'd much rather see Gunnar be the one to bring her out again. Layla's song was great and I was happy to see something of a different genre too (and more music overall last night was awesome), but I just can't buy this story at all. WHY are they still together?? WHY is the creepy producer so excited to blackmail a couple of little-known artists for a crappy TV show? Why not just get a divorce and be done with it? Will would be much more interesting in a story about being a closeted gay man in Country Music, maybe one with a real boyfriend too. Far too many cast members and too little time spent on the main characters and relationships - its driving me batty.
  17. Do any of the liver diseases present as a cold at first? I'm leaning toward something related to his immune system, but I can't imagine it'd be HIV, that'd seem out of left field to me. I'm still hoping for lymphoma/leukemia - something that can be treated - and that would give Chip the opportunity to share his own family's story.
  18. I figure that Jill's had plenty of practice learning how to negotiate disagreements with her 18 brothers and sisters.
  19. Ack!!! Where did you read these Sutton? Just hearing that she acknowledges Deacon's contribution to the song alone makes me glow with warm fuzzies. Luke probably won't feel the same. Too bad ;(
  20. There's a pic of Jonathan on Lennon and Maisy's twitter. Didn't see Hayden.
  21. I thought it was beautiful and I hope Chloe has really taken in the message of the song. You go Chloe!
  22. I read the comment as Maddie is not Daphne's parent, not that Teddy wasn't Maddie's parent.
  23. I'm not a Fundy by any stretch of the imagination, a refugee from the Catholic church really, though not entirely from Catholic teachings (I'm a bleeding heart liberal in large part because of the church's social teachings that I grew up with). For our family Christmas begins on the 24th when we decorate the tree and ends on January 6th, Epiphany. We keep very closely with the 12 days of the Christmas tradition. For us, keeping to the 12 days makes them more special, less diluted than they would be if we were to celebrate for the whole month or more.
  24. Blergh, hate the happy family look, though its nice to finally see Sage. Spoilers call for a falling out between Ruke, which I'm not seeing here. Looks all intense and Drama-y, but Luke and Rayna look OK.
