Spoiler Discussion: The apple was poisoned?!
Scovies replied to regularlyleaded's topic in Once Upon A Time
As far as I know, Kat's never been wrong. She's actually really careful about posting spoilers and won't put anything out there unless she's 100% positive about it. She's on set a lot and I presume she knows/is friends with someone who works on the show. If she says the wedding is in 6x20, you can pretty much take it as gospel. -
S01.E05: Golden Era
Scovies replied to Tara Ariano's topic in Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath
She mentions it here in her Reddit AMA. Her answer was short, but I wonder just how common her reaction was: -
Can Jane write every episode? We somehow managed to get forward momentum, excellent character moments (Snow wanting to go back to teaching and the general idea of finding "normal," David struggling with the info about his father, Emma with Archie, the Captain Swan stuff, Regina realizing what the EQ was trying to do), Belle being smart, a twist on an old fairy tale, good continuity, callbacks to beloved old characters, and every single major player included in the story without anything seeming rushed or tacked-on. This is the show I want to watch every week. I stick around for Captain Swan because it's the only thing that's consistently written well, but I could get really invested in the show as a whole if it maintained this kind of quality.

I think the show missed an easy opportunity to squeeze in some exposition for the non-experts without having to make the players be the ones to do it: Amelia. They've already established that she's not in this to be a sports agent and she probably doesn't know much about baseball, so all they'd have to do would have her be confused while watching the game and let one of the other people in the luxury box give a quick explanation for what's going on. That said, I'm still enjoying the show. The Ginny/Mike dynamic is what keeps bringing me back.

To be fair, Lochte signed up for the show prior to Rio. I think DWTS was expecting Rick Perry to be the "controversial" contestant this season. I found last night's show kind of... dull? The only people who really stood out to me were Laurie (duh), James, and Calvin, and I can barely remember anyone else's routines the next day. I was expecting more out of Amber and she seemed really graceful, but she looked terrified out there.

I think it might be personal choice for the women? In the women's 4x100 three of the U.S. ladies wore what looked like bike shorts while English Gardner had on bikini-style briefs.

I never realized what a jackass he was until I watched 9.79*, which I mentioned earlier in this thread (I was a bit too young to follow him in his prime). His manager/agent was an unlikable nutbag as well, and his obsession/admiration for Lewis was creepy as hell. And yeah, Lewis never even mentioned steroids in the press until Ben Johnson started beating him regularly. That documentary was pretty funny because you just know that Carl thought he was presenting himself as the good guy and thought he was nailing it, but he had no idea that he was coming off as the villain of the piece.

Aly's parents get a bad rep around here, but honestly, I don't blame them for acting the way they do. I get like that - really physical with my reactions - with my favorite gymnasts and football teams, and I don't even know the competitors. If a family member or loved one of mine was competing I'm sure I'd look obnoxious to outsiders too. Aly's parents don't seem like famewhores in the slightest and I was charmed by her brother crying over her AA medal; I think NBC just realized that they'd struck gold with them in 2012 and have kept a camera trained on them since. All they're doing is sitting in the stands and reacting to their daughter in a really perilous sport.

I generally agree, but he compared the crowd to Nazi Germany after the competition, so... I can understand it a little.

Da Silva just pulled a super-classy move at the medal ceremony for the pole vault. The crowd booed the French guy who came in second when they announced his name (and from what I heard about how he reacted when he lost, he deserved it), but Da Silva started clapping his hands over his head to encourage everyone to cheer for him. I love good sportsmanship.

He has the potential to medal in the all-around. He can easily score over 15 on 4 events (floor, vault, PB, and HB) and get close to 16 on PB and HB, all of which he's demonstrated at various points during the Games. His problem is, and always has been, that can't put together 6 clean routines in one competition or really show up in event finals - he could have easily won floor the other day if he repeated what he did in qualifying. He's just a bad competitor. Where'd you hear that?

I think RedheadZombie was referring to Tim Daggett.

The poor discus throwers - they can't even hang on to the equipment!

I love Sanne's beam routine, but what's with that NCAA dismount?

I'm furious for Alex that they didn't show his routine. If NBC is so USA-focused, I don't understand why they devoted so much time to men's FX and completely ignored the event we actually medalled in.
