I still can't stand the guy, but at least now I have my facts straight...clearly it's been too long since I carefully watched S5 :) 12 and 22 are history, and the next round is open! This is the last time we'll vote against TWO...

Sounds great to me! Feel free to start listing deaths :)

Oooh, looks like we have a tie for the worst of the worst! While we see if someone casts a tiebreaker, what do you guys want to play for the next round?!

We're still voting against two... My votes: 12 (So Zach kind of just assumes they're going to sleep together on their first date...?! Call me old-fashioned, and in some ways you'd be totally right to do so, but that kind of takes away a lot of the awwww-worthiness of these scenes for me. Even if I otherwise liked Zach---which I really, really don't :) and 22

I'll vote to save Prue's Morality Bites wig too, and we're down to our final two! Phoebe's almost-no-hair-left hair of S6 Phoebe's wig from All Halliwell's Eve I'll vote to save Phoebe's wig from AHE because, as hideous as it was, it was supposed to be ridiculous looking :) Meanwhile, what are we playing next?!

Ha---the bangs are spared, though they were actually my personal choice as the 'winner'---ie loser---of this round :) Like the wigs are supposed to be ridiculous and the short hair was kind of a bold and edgy look even though I didn't personally like it, but those bangs...*shudder* ;) Our final three: Prue's long blonde wig (Morality Bites) Phoebe's almost-no-hair-left hair of S6 Phoebe's wig from All Halliwell's Eve

28 is history, but we have a tie for that second spot between 10 and 11. Just vote for the one of those two you want eliminated, and I'll end this after one vote!

I actually liked 15---I feel like it's one of the only times we saw a natural warmth and affection between L/L once they started dating. I'm actually curious as to why so many find the proposal awww-worthy! No one has to answer, obviously---I'm just interested, not trying to put anyone on the spot :) For me it was such an unbelievably uncomfortable proposal that clearly sprung from Lorelai's impulsive, current Rory-related fears and desperation, not genuine readiness to marry Luke, and that was kind of borne out by what followed---the extremely muted, joyless engagement 'celebration' and both Luke and Lorelai avoiding setting a wedding date and just generally acting like their impending nuptials was a looming punishment rather than something they were ready and eager to do. And, oh, the updated list! 1. Lorelai convinces voters to vote for Taylor 2. Luke is relieved when Lorelai thinks it was a really good kiss...and doesn't want to forget it. 6. Luke gets emotional while looking over his dad's boat 8. Luke agrees that he was lost without Lorelai when she discovers a reggae CD in his truck...."you bet." 10. Lorelai proposes to Luke. 11. Lane telling Mrs Kim that the band had broken up and Mrs Kim helps them organise a tour. 12. Lane and Zach's awkward but sweet first date. 19. Luke winks at the end of the defense of their relationship at the town meeting 20. Lorelai is happy to have someone to blame now for things like her mother calling 22. Luke blurts out his plan to kidnap Rory and bring her back home and to her senses 23. Rory and Richard saunter off together after pranking Logan with engagement bit 25. Sookies' face when she realizes Luke and Lorelai really kissed. 28. When Paris and Doyle realize they're right for each other at speed dating. 29. The way Richard and Emily begin to bond again, over the lost dog. My votes: 10 and 22

15 is gone, but we have a tie between 10 and 14 for that next elimination spot! I'll end this after just one vote :)

Our fabulously fugly final four: Prue's long blonde wig (Morality Bites) Phoebe's reaaallly short, poorly cut bangs (S4) Phoebe's almost-no-hair-left hair of S6 Phoebe's wig from All Halliwell's Eve

S1-S2 are incredibly slow going for me for the same reasons! I just don't like most of these people enough to spend the comparatively slower paced time with them that was S1-S2 :) I used to think S3 was my least favorite season, but now it's become arguably my favorite, which I assume is unpopular...?! The love triangle/quadrangle stuff is annoying, but not all that much more so than in other seasons, and there are just so many awesomely thrilling, fascinating, borderline 'trippy' episodes in S3 that, unlike some of the show's other highly regarded episodes, actually still hold up really well for me despite knowing what does (and doesn't!) end up happening throughout the series. And I'm just really fascinated by the whole idea of the Others, like to the point that by then I'd rather have seen a lot more of the weird history and day to day functions of the Others than of 'our' characters, most of whom I was pretty weary of by then or not even all that interested in to begin with. I've also come to the supremely unpopular (and different from what I used to think!) opinion that I wish they'd just stuck with S3's Sawyer/Kate pairing and budding Jack/Juliet pairing for the remainder of the series, both because I have the UO of thinking those pairings were better suited and more compatiblethan Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Juliet and, more to the point, because then we could have been spared any additional back and fourth triangle/quadrangle-related nonsense for the rest of the series! S4 doesn't hold up as well for me as I keep hoping it will, but I do really like parts of it and hold the unpopular opinion that I liked the freighter folks more than many of our original characters.

Ha! Yeah, I dislike Zack too and rarely find him the least bit awwww-worthy, so I feel your pain :)

The poodle perm has been spared, and the next round is open! Luke builds Lorelai an ice rink as he doesn't want her to be grumpy about snow like he is. 15. Luke being so proud of Lorelai over the Dragonfly getting into the magazine. 19. Luke winks at the end of the defense of their relationship at the town meeting 20. Lorelai is happy to have someone to blame now for things like her mother calling 22. We're still voting against two... My votes: 10 and 22

Party of One: Unpopular TV Opinions
amensisterfriend replied to mstaken's topic in Everything Else TV
I've gone from once liking Gilmore Girls' Luke to feeling increasingly ambivalent about him to feeling a lot worse than ambivalent and from actually semi-shipping him with Lorelai to liking him only as a friend to Lorelai/uncle to Jess to not even liking him much in those contexts. And recent rewatches have solidified my most unpopular opinion ever: I hate Luke Danes. To me he's a boorish brute, he's rude, he's alarmingly angry and temperamental, he's somehow too passive, too aggressive AND too passive-aggressive in all the worst ways, he's joyless and humorless, he's dreadfully dull, he's one of the most ghastly communicators I've ever seen, he's dopey, he's too often not honest with himself or others, he's bitter, he's petulant, he's jealous, he's depressing, he never apologizes or even deigns to acknowledge his many, many, many problems and mistakes. He's just a thoroughly unpleasant, toxic person who usually has absolutely NO reason to be, and the fact that once or twice a year he'll make you something or help fix an appliance doesn't come close to making up for all that's wrong with him to me. And the more many revere him and merrily disregard his MANY serious flaws, the more I find myself disliking him, because apparently I can be just as immature as most GG characters when it comes to these things ;) -

Updated list: Prue's long blonde wig (Morality Bites) Phoebe's super spiral 'poodle' perm (parts of S3) Phoebe's reaaallly short, poorly cut bangs (S4) Phoebe's almost-no-hair-left hair of S6 Phoebe's wig from Oh My Goddess Phoebe's wig from All Halliwell's Eve The voters have generously spared Phoebe's blonde hair! The next round is open, and we're still voting for the one you want like most/dislike least :) My vote: Phoebe's Oh My Goddess wig

slf, a few of us were saying similar things about Juliet's condescending smugness, weird detachment and perpetual smirk in the 'bests and worsts' thread, so you're definitely not alone! I really don't get who she was supposed to be---or why the actress always had that same insufferable, 'I know far more than you silly mortals do' smirk in nearly every single scene. I'm guessing they were trying to make her an intriguing, enigmatic mystery woman, but it definitely didn't work for me, and this is coming from someone who usually LOVES more introverted characters. I even expressed the very UO that I've come to prefer the widely disliked Kate to the generally adored Juliet, who I only enjoyed in a couple of her off-island flashbacks :) I never felt as much love for Hurley as we're supposed to, either. Honestly, I'm starting to realize that Lost is one of the very few shows ever that I cared about *despite* my feelings about most of the characters than because of them :) I love the themes and ideas, the structure/format, the gorgeous setting and camera work etc., but I genuinely like and relate to surprisingly few of the show's many characters, and am pretty much indifferent (or worse!) to the majority of them.
-
Ha---poor Phoebe is so very heavily presented on this list :) I'll vote to save Phoebe's wig from Oh My Goddess, which I should probably hate a lot more than I actually do!
-
Everything you wrote here is true way, way too often throughout their relationship, IM(U)O :) Luke's angry and annoyed with her and the world in general, she's manic and uncomfortable and eagerly trying to calm him down, and they communicate either horribly or, like, not at all! I just can't find most L/L scenes awww-worthy, especially once they became more than friends. But I do find the fanfic versions of them awww-worthy more often than not, so it's too bad fanfic scenes aren't eligible here :)
