  1. OH, she was that Alexandra. I should have known that my own country's monarchy would have some small part in this scandal. And then prince Alexander goes and marries another Greek princess. Man, the level of inbreeding is staggering. So glad Serbia isn't a full out monarchy - sounds fancy on paper but we just don't have the finances to support them, not to mention communism and church - monarchy did not mix. Thought my grandma was a full out monarchist - she wanted the life prior to WWII. A curiosity - my mom set next to Jelisaveta Karadjordjevic (Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia) in a public bus once. She was super chatty.
  2. If you watch a 3 part documentary called the Windsors - A Royal Family from 1994, the details of how the queen found out about her father's death (being told by Phillip in the garden) and the reginal name thing are almost identical. And it's from people's own account's, including Lord Martin Charteris.
  3. I think when it comes to Philip, we will see the absolute low of their relationship next season. We are going into the 60's, he apparently had an affair with some Princess Alexandra, and yet they popped out 2 more kids in that decade. And apparently rumor is that at least one may have been with Viscount Porchester and not Phillip. If that doesn't scream soapy drama, I don't know what is. I don't think they will outright confirm it, but they may leave it to the viewers interpretation or subtle implication.
  4. I got to say I really loved this first season. Yes it's slow compered to other shows and maybe not adequately soapy, but it was fantastic. Clair Foy's facial expressions and very reserved acting really have won me over. I'm now looking to watch everything else she has been in. Everyone was on the top of their game. Jared Harris's earnestness as George the VI was breathtaking - I think him and Foy are my MVP's of the season.
  5. If my memory is correct, it was stated that Elizabeth was born via caesarean, which means that Margaret was too. Having multiple cessation deliveries isn't advisable. Once you have a child delivered via it, all subsequent deliveries will be caesareans. So in a way, it was somewhat irresponsible that they didn't educate her more throughout because they must have known that that was it as far as children were concerned.
  6. I mean, did you see all that meaningful eye contact between Red and Kirk. I was expecting any second for Red to drop " I am Katarina" - maybe that was what Red whispered ;) . And he did say that Liz is his daughter, not that he was her father. Frankly, it's just irritating me to no end. To much unnecessary mystery.
  7. Honestly, if we didn't know that Red was an intelligence officer from like 20 or so years ago and the fact that we have seen how Katarina looks like - I would have thought their were going for the Red is really Katarina aka. her mother twist - after the most epic sex change operation ever. I know it's dumb as hell theory, but this show has been milking this particular plotline for 70+ episodes. Frankly, if we don't get an utterly epic conclusion I shall be pissed.
  8. Also, he is the rumored father of the Queen's second son, prince Andrew.
  9. The second painting scene with the pond exchange was magnificent. the moment of realization on Churchill's face as he admits that he put in the pond after Marigold's death and that that was the desperation underneath was just spectacular.
  10. Word is 150 million $. And I got to say, you can see it in every frame. That is like 5 x 30 million $ movies - which sounds about right given the lack of CGI. The Queen (2006) was about 15 mil. I hope the show is racking in viewers because that is a HUGE investment, especially as they are planing 6 season.
  11. Yeah, I'm not getting a sexual vibe either. It's more of a emotional bond, like soul mates. Someone who is there for him, understands him, is like him, who thinks of his safety and well-being - who loves him as he is. I don't think gender plays any role in it. Even if the sexual part doesn't play a huge role, they could still have a very all-encompassing almost obsessive like connection.
  12. I don't think they are selling me a relationship with Jim and Valerie. She finds him interesting and attractive, but is also aware that he has had a pretty emotional break up with his previous chick - now that chick is back in town. I doubt Valerie wants to be someones rebound so she is looking at their thing as a day to day development. Jim is not over Lee. Valerie is attractive and seams interested in him, flirts and they have a somewhat fun dynamic. They eat or have coffee, end up in bed some days and help each other out. I don't think either thinks it's more than that. I think the problem was in the Mad Hatter - he assumed there was choice to be made - both Lee and Valeria were shocked Jim said Lee's name.
  13. Jim was totally trying to save Lee by naming Vale as his lady love - the Hatter was looking to kill his love and that was a sure way to find out who she is. Also, Lee is a doctor, so she could be far more useful unharmed then if she was the one that got shot - you could be sure she would have died in that case - this was Valerie had two doctors in close proximity. I so want for Oswald and Edward to get together as I fear that we may get a vengeful story line with them if Nygma just isn't into Oswald, especially with Kristen "Vertigo Kim Novak knockoff" Kringle is back in the picture and he can't take it. The amount of overdone macho acting I'm getting from Ben McKenzie and Michael Chiklis is overwhelming. But thank God that the millions of "monster" references have stopped for the time being.
  14. Her big problem is that she is still, three episodes in, one-dimensional as eff - a caring therapist. And that is it. We know next to nothing about her. And that is more on the writing then Brewster's performance - she has nothing to work with. Other that that, this show is really solid - for a first season, the chemistry and interaction work is phenomenal. Keep it coming.
  15. Me too. Cheesey as it is, it's just plain awesome. It's the ultimate hero/villain hookup fantasy come to life.
  16. That movie is unwatchable 95% of the time, even though I kinda dig Uma as Poison Ivy a bit.
  17. Why would it have to be the same South African plot line as the second movie ? That wasn't what I was advocating, not to mention that it's not very topical anymore like it was 20 years ago. This is a crime based show so I would assume that that arc would involve some type of criminal and or politician conspiracy that they will soon encounter. Given that it's set in LA, I would assume that the crimes would be Mexican gangs related. Or a police/dirty cop conspiracy,... To be honest, I'm over "case of the week" television. i like serialization of tv shows, whether it's minor like in Rizzoli & Isles (which had a bare minimum of it) or like Person of Interest that became almost completly serialized by the end.
  18. This show continues to be pretty great. I agree that they need to include an overarching story for the season other then Riggs's coping with the lose of his wife and child. The chemistry is great all around, and while I love Jordana Brewster, her character is the one who is least likable and developed - I hope they work on her. Anyway, I'm enjoying myself and can't wait for more episodes. Don't cancel this show Fox. I'm still sad that ABC canceled Forever last year.
  19. Hey, I openly love Batman Forever - utter dreck that it is.
  20. Also, how are there any new cops in Gotham ??? Every episode kills about half a dozen cops at least. Why would anyone in their right mind want to be the law in this lawless town is beyond me ? No, you are acknowledging superiority where there is some. I'm not bothered Chang in the role but she ain't Basinger in her drop dead gorgeous prime. She, Pfeiffer and Kidman are primary reasons why I watch old batman movies from time to time. And I'm not even into the ladies - they are just so pretty and charismatic.
  21. Well, maybe he is too subtle for my taste. I don't think he is talentless or plain bad, but his performance leaves me cold most of the time. At times both Alfred and Selina mange to pull out something more out of him that shows me the potencial, but that is about it. I guess the tortured stoicism that they are going for with young master Bruce is a bit too much for me at times - he is suppose to become Batman one day, not be him at age 13/14 without the playboy behavior. He has his moments - my favorite one has to be his seeing Azrael skulking along the walls and running from the cops. He was transfixed and so was I.
  22. Yeah, I just did last week. Maybe that is why it all feels so recent. I stopped watching last season after episode 3 and I only found the time to catch up to it last week or so. Barbara is definitely on a Harley trajectory. I enjoy the show, thought Jim being the lead is not ideal - I really don't like his performance at all, it's very mechanical and artificial, his voice is weird because he sounds like he is attempting to talk an octave lower on purpose. Baby Bruce has only one facial expression, but I adore Penguin, Nigma, Barbara - after she went crazy in season 1, Alfred, Selina,Butch, ... I also love Morena Baccarin, but I too don't get the point of her character on the show other then Jim's love interest - and that is just weak.
  23. Any subtlety this show had has gone down the water - if I hear the word "monster" one more I'm going to strangle someone. Seriously, am I watching Once Upon a Time or Gotham here. I haven't been fallowing any spoilers but is it me or Barbara morphing into Harley Quinn - that overall demeanor and that "sane certificate" line are totally Harley. Jamie Change continues to show more personality and charisma in these two episodes then she did in her entire run on OUAT as Mulan. It's been a long time since I saw season 1 but Jada has gone from positively campy good to campy terrible. They need to rest Fish for good this time. That Fish/Oswald scene thought - pure quality gold.
  24. And much, MUCH better the that Rush Hour abomination from last year. Come on, this is tv. You know it will happen down the line. MAy not be a serious thing, may only be a tease for this first season, but it will happen.
  25. This was decent enough. the leads have nice, believable chemistry, although this Clayne Crawford is no Mel Gibson in his prime - not enough charisma and presence, but decent enough. I'm gonna stay with it for a while myself, see where it leads. I would assume that the police psychologist played by Jordana Brewster is going to be Rigg's love interest unless they introduce a Rene Russo character down the line - maybe in the second part of the season or in season two, if the show survives till then.
