  1. Yeah, I read a similar thing in wikipedia and went to check on TAR's CBS website. And, sure enough, Keith and Whitney U-turned Maya/Amy after they noticed that they were u-turned by Shelley/Nici. And, then they went on to say that Shelley and Nici were playing dirty the whole race. (huh?) I would need them to define 'dirty', though, because that could mean almost anything ….like, not telling where a task is, taking a seat on a plane closer to the door, etc, which are not 'dirty' but could be perceived as such if someone believes that you lie about everything, including being mother and daughter. I'm glad that K&W are gone. There was something about that guy that rubbed me the wrong way. IMO (and from checking out some of the clips), he wasn't that much different from Shelley in personality.
  2. Actually, the show has only been on for 2-1/2 years. It premiered in April of 2012. I guess it must feel like 4, though. And, Cyrus, Cyrus, Cyrus……his face is gonna be completely broken when he finds out that his gigolo is a plant paid by Portia's character. What a shame that in his grief he threw all caution to the wind when this pretty boy showed up. Ugh! Come on, Cyrus. You should KNOW better.
  3. She sure had plenty to say in the taxi in one of the bonus clips. You should check it out. It's the one called "Bad Blood". Very enlightening. Keith and Whitney actually said that they (S&N) were lying to everyone and that they didn't believe they were mother and daughter. (What?!) They even think (or thought) that the cyclists were playing dirty. Really? How did they come to that conclusion? I can't figure out what was really going on in their heads.
  4. Ahhh, ok. If that is what was meant, I did misunderstand the comment. Sorry about that.
  5. No need for it to come into play because it's not against the rules. If it was, Phil would have said something. Many, many times racers have asked their cabbie to wait for them (and the cabbies have stayed), and I'm sure the cabbies are not doing it free of charge. TAR does insist that you pay your cab driver, though. That's for certain. So, they must have had enough to pay them. I can't recall the season, but a team got to the pit stop and Phil turned a team around. He told them they had to pay their driver BEFORE he checked them in. There are a few things that we can be bothered about Shelley and Nici, but that's not one of them. :-)
  6. Well, not so fast with saying that Shelley and Nici should have U-turned Jim and Misti. Remember, Jim and Misti were doing a different detour so S&N didn't know where they were (behind them or already heading for the pit top). Plus, Jim and Misti would have to come in last for that strategy to work and that was a 1 in 6 probability. However, they DID know that Whitney and whats-his-face (can't recall his name as I type…sorry) were still working on the detour, though. That was the one thing they definitely had insight and a little control over as they thought about what to do. And, from the edits, it appears that they all make the U-turn decisions rather quickly. So, IMO, it wasn't that bad an idea to U-turn them instead since doing so would likely buy them more time to get to the pit stop, and perhaps, not be eliminated. Now, that's what's going on in MY head, but I'm sure it was a double pleasure for them to spite the folks they just had a falling out with AND to gain a little extra time to get to the mat.
  7. Hmmm…If you have never watched The Good Wife, you should give it look-see, because one of the main attorneys, Diane Lockhart ALWAYS wears clunky statement necklaces.
  8. Totally. It's gonna be a (slaps forehead) "I coulda had a V-8" moment for both of them. I agree that she's always been quite irritating, but her 'assertiveness and refusal to take shit' is all Abby. She has always been the one to get in Liv's face. Right or wrong, she was in her face. And sometimes she would say things to Liv that were down-right mean and ugly. But even thought she went to Liv's home to read her the riot act, when she realized Liv was in distress, the 'friend' Abby showed up. In as much as I don't care for the Abby character much, I like that last scene between the two of them. Liv was a friend to Abby and rescued her from her abusive husband…now it was Abby's turn to be strong for Liv and be a friend. (and we all know that Pop Pope has, again, done a number on Liv, and she is thoroughly corn-fused right now. Ugh! Pop Pope…just go away. )
  9. I was curious so I checked, and it turns out that out of 24 seasons, 9 teams that came in 1st place in the first leg were eliminated by the end of the 9th leg. The most interesting of those 9 teams is Rob/Amber. They placed 1st for the first 3 legs and were eliminated in the 4th leg. So there is a good possibility that they may have to pull The Save out of their pocket again (depending on where the NELs pop up). And, using Rob and Amber as an example, it doesn't matter if they come in first in every subsequent leg before the 9th. If they come in last in the 9th leg and it's not a NEL, they have to use it to stay in the race. If it is a NEL and they still have it, the SAVE will expire. What makes it interesting now (for me) is watching how the dentists race from this point (confidence level, humility, attitude towards each other, etc). Even doing their best, they could be one bad taxi driver away from elimination with or without the SAVE.
  10. I may be wrong, but it appears that many fans don't like The Save because: 1 - they are Survivor viewers and are applying what Survivor does with their idol thingie to The Amazing Race rules. I don't watch Survivor (only season 1, which is now many, many moons ago) so I (and others who also don't watch it) can't relate to what they do on that show. What works on Survivor may not work on TAR. 2 - they do not like the dentists and since they came in last, want them gone. Period. Not my fav team either, but I trust the TAR producers and other PTB to try new things (as they've done in the past). They haven't made that many wrong turns or they wouldn't have lasted 25 seasons. If it doesn't seem to work, they will change it. We may not like what happened, but Phil gave it back according to how the rule was written. Playing devils advocate, if a fan favorite team had The Save and were in the dentist's position (last place) and it was returned to them because it was a NEL (as Phil did for the dentists), IMO, I don't think the outcry would be the same.
  11. Regarding Shelley & Nici: All. Of. This. What is truly unbelievable to me is how smug she (Shelley) is when she feels she is right. What was it she said when they were supposedly discussing which task to do (a poster above mentioned this …I had forgotten it) and she said, "I've decided." Really? No further discussion? And, why she thinks that The Amazing Race is the place to try to 'teach' Nici a lesson is beyond me. No doubt, they both have their issues. (Nici: Not being sympathetic to your Mom when she has a cramp in her leg is not good.) Neither is completely correct in how they are dealing with mistakes and each other. And, something tells me that Nici wanted to go on the Race more than Mom, which explains Mom's nonchalant attitude when she realized they passed by Phil at the pit stop. If she doesn't want to work toward the common goal ($1M), why is she there? I'm baffled. That was a head-shaker. For all they knew, they could have been last and, thus, possibly eliminated. IMO, Shelley would not care and would blame it all on Nici. Shelley: If she had only listened to me, everything would have gone so much better. Don't get me wrong. Nici doesn't get a full pass. We don't know why she talks to Shelley the way she does, nor why Shelley treats Nici like she's 5. And after being her Mom's daughter for 25 years, she should not be surprised at her actions. But, it probably frustrates her to no end every time Mom pulls one of her moves. Having a supportive and motivated partner is key, but this team doesn't have those traits. I'm with you Jersey Guy…I'm not interested in their show either. :-(
  12. Jim and Misti are not my favorite team, but I just wanted to slip in a correction before we go too far assuming how old they are. They are actually 37 and 36, respectively. I found this information on The Amazing Race CBS website.
  13. Same here. I came across a repeat of the pilot last night and was curious, so I took a peek. That peek turned into binging the next 2 episodes so I'm all caught up now. I am anxiously waiting for the next epi. It is rather slow-moving and quiet, but that's ok with me. It makes me concentrate on what's happening. Plus, I LOVE mysteries and whodunits. Lots of potential suspects, but my gut says that it's not the Dad. He's written to look very suspicious so I'm now looking at others. The creepster lady in the trailer? I've got my eye on her. She's just plain old weird, and a skateboard in the closet doesn't help matters. But, again, that could be something to throw us off. Again, perhaps too obvious. With that said, it's different from many things on TV right now, so I'm all in for the remaining 7 episodes.
