  1. I was significant;y more bothered by Elizabeth's vocal fry than Bernadette's. Dave doesn't have that issue and it is a great mustache indeed. I think it would have won a Movember Men's Health mustache contest. I got Brooks Brothers although I'm not sure where I learned that from. Kevlar would have come in handy for the Presidents that got shot. Alas, it wasn't developed until the mid 1960s.
  2. Got those TS, risk, and Hawthorne. I also got the Charge of the Light Brigade as I realized it was during the Crimean War. I only remember two things about it. Florence Nightingale revolutionizing nursing and the Charge of the Light Brigade. I did enjoy when Alex made reference to the football debacle too. I did get Ruth, Song of Solomon, and guessed Revelation.
  3. I thought that her perfecting the Australian accent was going to play a role too. Maybe Tiya was filming Alex Inc at the same time so she couldn't be there earlier in the season. It wouldn't be the first time Eleanor jumped over a bar. I liked when Eleanor gave the same speech / bluff to Shawn about Michael and Janet being ten steps of him like Indiana Jones gave to Donovan in the Last Crusade movie about Marcus Brody blending in and disappearing. Not even close.
  4. I'm not sure I particularly liked it, but it happened that we were covering Hobbes and Leviathan in history class. I suspect that was planned to discuss the savage nature of humanity in the absence of rules and society.
  5. It was the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice signing on Sunday so I can see why your mind might have went there with respect to WWI. We had to read "The Lord of the Flies" my sophomore year in high school. She did remind me of her also. It was such a contrast to Autumn who I did appreciate for abbreviating categories and amounts. Not too many people do that, despite the fact that they specifically suggest you do that at the audition.
  6. I was reminded of Chidi from "The Good Place" when the guy they were interviewing couldn't decide on what chair to sit down on as he was thinking it was a test for the interview. Chidi had that same problem choosing between chairs this season, but it's par for the course for him.
  7. It's mutual. He's the Big Blue Toothbrush at Bed, Bath, and Beyond that she always wanted in her life and he cares about her so much that he was willing to lose his very existence to save her. Doug Forcett was my guess too. I would think the person who figured out the afterlife and the points system associated with it would be aspiring to do the best he could to get into the actual "Good Place."
  8. They think they don't have a chance, but this proves Michael's hypothesis that humans can be good if pushed in the right direction and it would even show that they would still choose to be good despite knowing eternal damnation awaits them. It really is the perfect test for moral desert and they are passing it with flying colors. I'm still intrigued probably because Groundhog Day is my favorite movie. Right now, the show has essentially moved into the second half of the movie where the more existentialist aspects come into play. Phil Connors has little reason to believe that helping all the citizens of the town will make any difference in getting out of his time loop, yet chooses to do it anyway. While he did a lot of self-improvement just to impress Rita, he's come to know the people of Punxsutawney as friends/family even though they don't even know him. That's how he is putting meaning in his presumably immortal existence. They won't even remember it and it's thus an apparent exercise in futility, but he helps them nonetheless. The Soul Squad has been told they are doomed, and they've found meaning in trying to prevent those they care about from avoiding the same fate. The message resonates well with me and I'm liking it, even if like Groundhog Day, it's not as funny as when Phil Connors was a jerk or embracing hedonism and nihilism like he was in the first half of the movie.
  9. I think that Kamilah had bought into all the BS about her and that everything and everyone else is beneath her as her name literally means perfect. At least subconsciously though, she still cared for her sister and that manifested itself in her art work. It is interesting to me that both Eleanor and her mother both "died" and reformed themselves due to the presence of meaningful people in their lives. Eleanor believed that her mother was incapable of changing despite the fact that Eleanor herself is proof that it can be done. Donna's real apology to Eleanor would be not bailing on Dave and Patricia and not giving up on them like she gave up on Eleanor. That's more than any words could say. Remember the Soul Squad is just giving their family / friends the same type of push in the right direction that they got from Michael and Janet. Actions are more powerful than words. Burying the hatchet (In Tahani's case, literally) was the theme tonight.
  10. That is precisely what I meant yes. :)
  11. No one would have expected that. :) I spent a semester in Spain back in 2001. It was a very interesting experience. I used to be fluent, pero ya no. Ha. They aren't cheap though. I got a refurbished one off of a Woot deal once and they definitely suck. That thing got me my full rental deposit back.
  12. That's a very good point. We already knew the estranged relationship Tahani had with her parents. We found out about Jason and Donkey Doug in this episode. Next week, it's Eleanor against her mother whom we already saw how nasty she was back then. Will Chidi's parents factor in?
  13. Someone needs to watch Groundhog Day again. I remembered that answer too and got it. I keep reminding myself that Johannesburg despite being the biggest city is not one of the three South African capitals. Pretoria (execuitve) and Cape Town (legislative) are the other two besides Bloemfontein (judicial). I liked Lisa and cheered for her, but she showed her frustration in the ToC.
  14. Figured out FJ fairly quickly after dismissing Camp David. That cowboy category was mostly a fail for them, but I got them too.
  15. This proves Michael's premise that humans can be good without moral desert. As far as they know, there isn't any for them. However, I suspect it will make a compelling case to present to Judge Gen. I don't know where the six will eventually end up, but, at the very least, they'll be able to avoid eternal torture.
  16. I wanted them to finish the Band category too as I had them as well, but I get why they left. Got those others along with the Dutch, Australia, Berlusconi, and 1914. Finland, as a whole, barely has more than 5 million people let alone just Helsinki. Petrograd -> Leningrad -> St. Petersburg.
  17. I remembered Pluto was the Roman God of the underworld because as a kid learning Greek/Roman mythology in sixth or seventh grade I asked why Mickey Mouse would have named his dog after something so creepy. My family and I had been to Disney World the summer before. It's still a planet to me too. :)
  18. I'd like to forget about Attack of the Clones too, but I did get it along with Mike Brady being an architect as well as dust. FJ was straight from the Kids Tournament. I don't really have an issue with Alan, but I did want to see Alex get another win to make it to the ToC.
  19. No clue on FJ. I did get Voltaire, Seoul, Chevron, and Rite-Aid though. I'd like to see Alex make it to the ToC.
  20. I remembered the Trials of Hercules, so I got FJ. Why wouldn't you at least guess it? How many other Jack London options would Jeopardy! include?
  21. I did too. I don't think Allison Tolman has that same vocal fry though. It was particularly bad. Got Winston Churchill, but I don't remember anything else. I was watching Game 4 of the ALDS.
  22. I saw Sting in concert about 13 years ago. He opened with "Message in a Bottle." Hearing it live, it still sounded like "I'll send an S.O.S. to a squirrel." No clue on zither or Blithe Spirit, but I did guess right on FJ with lawgiver: Ten Commandments, Laws of Moses, etc.
  23. I'm glad Sara won. She bet big and get across quite well. She was also a refreshing contrast from the Austin Rogers wannabe champ.
  24. I got Ben Affleck. Thanks for the clarification on the hyphenate. It's been a long day. My high school was run by Xaverian brothers so I thought it should have been a BMS too. Pope Francis took the name for St. Francis of Assisi. Pope Francis also said that atheists could potentially go to heaven
