  1. I was more commenting on the ridiculousness of putting an almost-adult woman's body (including a not-insubstantial set of boobs) in a little girls' garment than bragging, though I was a lot smaller at 17 than I am at 42.
  2. I'm an Alaska fan, but that was lame af. Same! Plus, this is in line with the way Alyssa made her own decision when she sent Ginger home. Personally, I think Alyssa's metrics are closer to the way Ru operates during regular seasons than the stupid "use only today's critiques" BS most of the queens are using. How do they know what Ru and the judges are thinking? The don't.
  3. Word. I thought it was kinda boring and typical of cosplay stuff--it could have been a rented costume--and I can't understand why the judges loved it. Also, her padding gave her a dumpy butt, emphasized by the gold accents.
  4. Was this hyperbole? In any case, it made me laugh. Coco/Martin is my age: 42.
  5. I graduated high school in 92, and we were already wearing baby-tees, tiny skirts, and thigh-highs by the end of my junior year. The slip dresses over baby tees came a little later, but I actually feel like the gang are a tiny bit behind the fashion curve. Boy clothes didn't change as quickly, nor were they as interesting. We definitely wore infantile stuff, though. I actually squeezed my teenaged self into a Brownie uniform jumper and school uniform kilts and sweater vests from the little girls' department.
  6. That's what I thought, too, but I could be misremembering. All I know is I thought PhiPhi looked busted and think she should have been in the bottom, even though she was marginally okay in Snatch Game. As the numbers dwindle, we will have fewer grey zone safe queens and just top and bottom groups,so it will be easier to follow. I think. Who knows.
  7. I think Alaska is really creative and interesting, and don't understand the comments that she seems smug or entitled. She's smart and thoughtful about what she does, which is why I like her. That doesn't read as smug to me, just very professional and prepared. The Rolaskatoxxx whatever is el stupido, and she even distanced herself from it after a while during hear season. I think she had to address it, and I think the show created that bottom three for the drama created by the former clique. Phi-phi belonged in the bottom before Detoxx, but of the bottom queens, I think it was a toss-up between Roxxxy and Tati. I really like Tatiana, even though I haven't seen her season. She didn't shine this episode, but seems like she could have been a strong contender going forward. Part of me wishes Alaska had dumped Roxxy, but her choice also made sense. I actually like all the queens remaining a ton--well, maybe not Roxxxy. I just don't think she's that interesting. I want to see more bonkers, delightful Katya, but I also hope Ginger steps it up. She's so funny and super gorgeous.
  8. Sigh. I hate to defend/identify with Donna, but I owned a shameful number of cropped tops throughout the 80s and early 90s.
  9. Wow, Holly is awkward and wooden-- "mannequin who came to life, but not all the way" is spot on. Is she wearing a wig? How are her clothes so oversized and simultaneously stiff? I stared at that gif for like twenty minutes trying to figure out how the actress was achieving those movements.
  10. I've already started incorporating the Jazz Scale into my life. Bless you.
  11. The first track off my new album is "We Are Curious, Pleated."
  12. I didn't remember that at all, but it made me hoot with laughter, so. I have to believe that was more the actors' choice than the writing, but maybe I'm wrong.
  13. Nietzsche vs. Wagner?
  14. Same. I used to print them so I could read them ON THE BUS. I'm sure half of Seattle thought I was an insane person, cackling over her manifesto or something. ETA: Remember Brandon's "big honking watch?" That seemed to infuriate DD as much as the lack of belts.
  15. It didn't hit me as weird, but then the valedictorian of my high school got pregnant during our first year of college. I remember her telling me she was getting married and dropping out as we headed out of chem lab that spring. Unlike Andrea, she didn't have a ton of drama and is still married to a nice guy, has three grown sons, and did go back for a degree. I always hated the Andrea and Jesse (that was his name, right) relationship. She seemed so not into him, and he pretty much worshiped her. I'm getting ahead of myself, I guess. Maybe upon revisiting, I'll realize he was a jerk, too.
  16. Alaska is my absolute favorite queen. I have her album, and it's stunning.
  17. Back when this was on, I kept my tiny crush on Steve a secret. Looking back, he's (or rather, Ziering is) so charming and cute, pleats be damned!
  18. The styling is very period-appropriate, for sure. At my 1992 high school graduation, so many girls had their caps on the back of their heads to show off their bangs. It looked ridiculous and I made fun of them, even at the time (as a teen, I wasn't very nice or tolerant of my peers, I'm afraid). I wore my hair long with no bangs, and my cap was perched on the top of my head, as intended.
  19. We also did that horrible whole school voting on cheerleaders, which included an official assembly where the girls had to publicly audition. During the school day. So glad I've forgotten half of the terrible shit from my teens.
  20. My school had official superlatives that were published in the yearbook, plus the dubious ones that only came out in the school paper, AND a very questionable set that was passed around by jerkface boys on probably-stolen bad xeroxes. I was in the same year as the Bev9ers would have been if they didn't have two junior years, so maybe it was a 90s thing? I was voted "Most terrifying senior girl" in the school paper list, which I guess means my schoolmates thought I was a bitch. The jerkfaces also "complimented" my tits. West Beverly was tame.
  21. Nope, those boom mike shots were visible on first airing. In the old Mediarama recaps and boards it was a source of much amusement.
