  1. Seconding the question: Was Kate Hudson in the episode? I ask because I thought I saw a flash of someone who looked like Kate Hudson, but didn't think of it again until I read your post. Now I'm curious if I imagined it.
  2. Someone on the previous page noted that Rayna's hair and make-up person should be fired. I agree that she looked terrible in last night's episode but I assumed it was done purposely for the Christmas special. I think they were trying to show just how much make-up she needed for the show, just the way she explained to Deacon all those trees and decorations were for the show because it looked better on camera. Also, it looks like Zoe is gone for good. I just checked Chaley Rose's Twiiter and she wrote: Left my @Nashville_ABC family but joined the United Talent Agency family yesterday! #GoodbyeZoey #OneDoorCloses #UTA #LetsGo
  3. For me, the show has a very different feel lately. It's the short scenes, which allow for more time with all the characters, and it's the zany moments that don't seem to fit with the Nashville I remember. And, again, I have to point out all the "y'all"s and twangs that seem to be coming from everyone's mouth that didn't seem to be there before. I think Gunnar and Scarlett always had an "accent", but it feels like everyone else is trying too hard. The Terry story line gets an F from me. So, so bad. My fear is that Terry is here to replace Zoe, the way Zoe replaced Coleman. Anyone see a pattern here? The biggest problem is that if they only want one "major" Black character on the show, they should have stuck with Coleman. I think Zoe had potential, but she was written poorly, and as someone already mentioned, the actress wasn't great. But she wasn't the only mediocre actor on the show, and she was pretty and had a lovely voice. The show did not do right by her and I hope the actress is off to find a show that treats her better. Sadly, we have to deal with Terry now. The Micah story line gets an F- from me. I didn't think anything could be worse than the Terry story line, but here it is. While I do think Juliette driving around on that scooter was kind of funny, it didn't seem to belong on this show. That's what I mean by zany. Who suggested these silly moments with Juliette, Avery, Gunnar and Scarlett? Are they trying to reinvent this show right before our eyes? As an early fan of Deacon and Rayna, I found that little moment in front of his house insulting. We've been through these Moments with the two of them every season and I'm just tired. Either move this couple forward and get on with their separate stories. I can't believe these writers still have jobs.
  4. I am very curious.
  5. I think a lot of shows have made the mistake of keeping popular couples apart. Possibly because they fear the couple will become boring. Or because it's more interesting/dramatic to write flirtation/unresolved sexual tension. I tend to enjoy UST in my shows, but I lose interest when the writers seem to be working hard to keep a couple apart and that separation no longer seems organic. Luke and Rayna don't work. Deacon and the 3 or 4 women he's dated since season 1 don't work. The writers had so many ways to keep Deacon and Rayna together without making them an official couple: the Music, Maddie, Rayna adding Deacon to her new label, Scarlett's breakdown. That's 3 - 4 seasons of drama right there. I feel the mistake here has been deciding there must be love and sex while the writers decide if/when/how to bring Deacon and Rayna together. Better writers would have figured out viewers don't need that. The music and family dynamics were enough. (I don't regret Liam and Rayna though.) I've mentioned Men in Trees with Anne Heche and James Tupper here. They were a great "couple", but the writers decided to bring in Tupper's character's estranged wife so the couple we were all rooting for stopped having scenes together and the show was canceled. I was relieved when The Mindy Project writers chose to make Mindy and Danny a couple. It's a challenge to keep the drama going when they finally get together, but it can be done.
  6. I thought this was a terrible episode. It reminded me of a straight-to-VHS type movie that airs on late night cable in the 1980s. I'm not sure why the show runners are going this route, but I hope things change. Now that it's fairly clear Luke is not meant to be Rayna's endgame, I'm even more annoyed we've had to deal with him for nearly two seasons. He's wasted my time, and he's almost ruined Rayna's character for me. I can't root for a woman who continues to forgive a spoiled jerk like Luke. I agree that Luke and Sadie may be headed for something. Something that will finally end Rayna's relationship with him. Fingers crossed it happens during the first episode after winter break. I'm almost done here. This episode was close to the final straw for me. I don't usually hate watch shows and since I'm beginning to hate this show, I may have to stop watching it.
  7. Oh, okay, I didn't know that. I started watching during season 3. That kind of depresses me!
  8. I know two people like this and have dealt with them for 20+ years. They are often the most difficult people to be around because they can dole out harsh criticisms, but can't handle the response. I think the only way to handle a person like Brandi is to ask her, at the very moment she says a hurtful thing, "Why did you say that? That isn't nice." I've taken my own advice about three or four times (because I'm always too stunned to respond quickly after a hurtful thing is said), but I find that when I have asked this, the person saying the hurtful thing can't answer, becomes embarrassed (especially if other people are around), and backtracks (or apologizes). Then you can move on and that person is often reluctant to say a hurtful thing to you again. It's the only way because people like Brandi "forget" they said a hurtful thing, or claim they didn't know it was hurtful, or say they were just joking. And it's really hard to win after that because everyone accuses you of holding a grudge.
  9. Remember when HBO used to air the same 3 movies all day, every day? That is how I managed to watch Clash of the Titans constantly. I loved Harry Hamlin so much, I was heartsick. So it's weird to see him on RHBH and not really care. I felt a little sorry for him when everyone at the party stopped in front of him to say hi to Lisa R. I was shocked how many people seemed to ignore him. I don't know anything about them as a couple, but they seem cute together so I hope the show doesn't hurt their marriage.
  10. Thanks, WireWrap. My husband and I stood behind that cat woman in a Godiva shop NYC. She was honestly terrifying. We commented last night that Adrienne didn't look like her...YET.
  11. My mother tuned in to see Eileen Davidson, so I was disappointed for her. I hope she'll watch again next week, but she wasn't impressed. We were glad she couldn't reach her friend last night (another Davidson fan) since we would have been embarrassed she sat through the show without any pay off. I thought Yolanda and Adrienne looked terrible. Adrienne's work is very bad. Does anyone know if her ex-husband was doing her plastic surgery before? I always thought the work was bad, and they looked a little too much alike, but this new surgeon has ruined her face. Yolanda just looks worn out and acts as if she's trying too hard to be fun and happy and grounded. After finally watching her first episodes on the show in season three (last week's marathon), I can understand why so many disliked her. She's kind of awful. Still dislike Kyle. The link to Kim's dog's victim is disgusting. Kim should be sued and not allowed to own a dog ever again. She's ridiculous.
  12. This episode really highlighted how much better the show is with Jenny and Irving in it! I loved Abby and Jenny working together. I loved sickly, cranky Crane giving Abby and Hawley the side-eye while trying to stay awake. I liked Abby, Crane, Jenny and Hawley linking hands to call back Lori Mills. I liked Irving stopping the car and everyone looking a bit concerned about his appearance. I didn't like the lighthearted, tinkly music that follows Hawley into the room to remind viewers he's fun! And Un Serious! I didn't like the Mills sisters referring to their mother as "mama" every time they mentioned her. (Speaking of that, where are they from? Isn't "mama" a Southern thing? I'm from New York and I've never met a New Yorker (upstate, downstate, wherever) who used the word "mama" to describe a mother. That really bugged me.) I didn't like Crane vs. Abby and Hawley when Katrina was mentioned, but someone's theory that Crane protests too much makes me feel much better about that because I agree. So while this was a better episode, I'm annoyed so much of Jenny's and Irving's talents have been wasted. I actually think Hawley. Katrina and Henry would be way more tolerable for me if the writers had figured out a way to use Jenny and Irving more. ETA: I would love to see Crane reading Jane Austen, trying to find this "Mr. Woodhouse", determined not to ask Abby or Hawley which book he's in.
  13. Is it Zoey, not Zooey? Why is everyone calling her Zooey? It seems rude.
  14. I was thinking the same thing after seeing the promo. Also, I would like to think Rayna will go to Deacon, as you suggest, to discuss her decision. I'm also sure Deacon will understand why she had to do it. I would turn my back on Rayna because of this.
  15. I didn't like this episode. I have a hard time believing Ruke's weekend wouldn't have been all about Luke if he'd been offered the Rolling Stones cover. His sexism has been hinted at, but it reached a point for me in this episode. His anger seemed like jealousy to me. Like he couldn't believe His Woman expected him to taste wedding cake while she was interviewed by Rolling Stone. Rayna's manager made it clear that this was a big deal and her only shot. You don't turn down Rolling Stone. So why was it an issue? I'm definitely not outraged by Rayna's actions. Mainly because I know the writers just throw stuff on the wall to see what sticks and have given up on any kind of character development or consistency. I like Rayna and feel she's being written very oddly this season because the show doesn't work and no one knows how to fix it. I won't turn my back on this character because there won't be any point watching the show anymore. I don't like the Gunnar/Micah/Zoey storyline. I still don't like Will and Layla. And the Scarlett/Terrance stuff is cliched and stupid. Years ago, in my old neighborhood, a subway clerk was killed by a homeless man he'd been buying dinner for nearly everyday for years. The homeless man just snapped and killed him. I thought of this when Terrance returned to the house to give Scarlett a harmonica. It's a slightly irresponsible message to send to young viewers who may choose to share their home address with a friendly homeless person. If you listen to some of the homeless people in NY, they make more sense than men in suits in this town. And some of them have wonderful voices. But they can also been dangerously insane so it's best not to engage them unless it's to hand them some food or money. I've never been big on the Avery/Juliette story, but it's the best one on the show right now. Still not enough to keep me hooked if the rest of the story lines keep sucking like this.
  16. Selfie was cancelled. Does anyone think John Cho will return to the show?
  17. I agree "unexpected" would be Jeff, but I thought the addition of "very" might be significant. Layla hasn't had scenes with anyone other than Jeff and Will, though.
  18. So Ausiello is reporting Layla hooks up with "someone very unexpected". Someone here called Layla and Jeff last week (or the week before). That makes the most sense to me, but is that very unexpected? Who else could it be? Avery?
  19. This is where it gets complicated for the writers, I think. While I agree the viewers are supposed to side with Abbie when she questions Katrina's motives, I don't believe that is because Crane and Abbie are endgame. I believe it's because Katrina is supposed to be morally ambivalent so we wonder about her the way Abbie does - it adds to the mystery and the show's (apparent) core question of whether Crane and Katrina can eventually be together again. Is Katrina bad? Does she have Crane's best intentions in mind? Is Crane blinded by his love for Katrina? Unfortunately, I see Abbie as one of us, an outsider and spectator, with the added burden of having to save this couple from destroying themselves. Haven't the show runners been saying this? That they never intended Crane and Abbie to be endgame? Isn't that why they added Hawley to the cast? So Abbie would have her own love interest? Didn't critics talk about the opening credits that feature Crane and Katrina silhouettes? For me, when the show runners start talking to the fans, it means they believe we're misinterpreting their intentions. I definitely don't have a sense the SH people are trying to avoid a Buffy situation.
  20. The reason I want Crane and Katrina to have chemistry is because the show is telling me they have a great love. Even if that love is doomed in the end, as a viewer, I need to believe it exists to feel any investment in it. I also happen to believe we are supposed to root for them. Their relationship reminds me a bit of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's dilemma with Spike/Buffy and Riley/Buffy. The writers fully expected fans to embrace Riley as Buffy's true love, but fans were rooting for Buffy and Spike. The writers were very vocal about their disappointment and admitted they didn't mean for fans to want Spike and Buffy to be together. But for me, the characters worked and the chemistry was out of control. I was offended when the writers became hostile towards fans for loving a vampire and disliking Riley, the really nice guy. ETA: If you're familiar with Buffy, the actor playing Riley (Marc Blukas?) was very cute. I was into him when he was introduced in season 4. But he was dull and his scenes with Buffy were boring toward the end of that season. I could no longer root for him. Especially not after Spike's scenes with Buffy were just so terrific in season 5. With Sleepy Hollow, I would love to enjoy the Crane and Katrina scenes, but I never have. I just don't feel invested in their relationship, or in her character, and now I feel as if someone behind the scenes and trying to make me feel as if I should want this couple to work because that's the way it was intended. What TV writers need to know is that viewers aren't stupid. We can sense when we're being guided/manipulated. While I didn't love the scenes between Irving and his wife, I really thought Orlando Jones sold his interactions with her. To be honest, I probably could have done without the wife/daughter storyline, especially since it has been dropped. But I thought they were going somewhere with Jenny and the daughter bonding, so I didn't mind.
  21. Someone pointed out that Crane has worn his hair in a ponytail until he started to doubt Katrina, and the started wearing his hair loose and flowing. I noticed this week his hair was loose in the beginning, but pulled back into a ponytail later when Katrina was around. Has anyone been paying attention to this? Just curious if there's something to it. I have to say I thought Hawley looked good on paper. I was excited about the spoilers and even more excited when I saw a shirtless photo of the actor. Even sent the link to my sister as a way to try to draw her into watching the show. Glad she didn't bite because Hawley's been a disappointment to me. He doesn't look as cute as his pictures, and I certainly didn't anticipate the comic-relief route they've taken with. Neither did I expect he had a thing with Jenny, which is the biggest reason I'm no longer excited about him hooking up with Abbie.
  22. This was definitely the weakest (worst) episode of Sleepy Hollow. There were some good moments like the entire voting scene and Crane's reaction to the men in the hospital checking out his wife in goth clothes. I LOVED "I must Internet, immediately!" I would pay money to see the poster upthread who said s/he was going to say this at work! But this is the episode that cemented the lack of chemistry between Crane, Katrina and Abbie as a threesome. Even Hawley works better with Abbie and Ichabod (though no one is better than Jenny). I miss John Cho, Orlando Jones and Lyndie Greenwood a lot. It's funny because last season I was shocked Fox green-lighted a show that featured a white male lead with a black female lead (taboo in Hollywood), a Korean supporting actor and a black supporting actor. Corbin, Katrina and Jenny rounded out the cast and I wondered how long it would take for the network to change things. I also wondered if the show runners were people of color, but I watched their PaleyFest panel last year and was surprised when they said (after a question about diversity on the show) they didn't have diversity in mind when casting the show, or something like that. I remember they seemed surprised their show was considered diverse. When I heard that, I had a sinking feeling and soon after, the writers were making statements about Ichabod and Katrina being the true couple, etc. etc. I didn't come into this show for diversity. It was a pleasant surprise, yes, but I tuned in for Nicole Beharie because I'd seen her in a couple of movies and think she's an interesting actor. But the problem for me now is that I believe truly talented and entertaining actors (Lyndie and Orlando) are being replaced by mediocre actors because of their skin color. That seems very unfair. I'd hate to abandon the show since I really love watching Nicolae Beharie and Tom Mison every week, but I won't watch Abbie relegated to risking her life for the Cranes and their evil son, and arguing with them to be reasonable, in every episode. I gave up on Twisted early on and never looked back, so I don't even know what posters are talking about when they say this show is turning into Twisted 1B. (Can anyone point me to a place that summarizes what happened? Thanks.) Very interesting that Orlando Jones didn't live tweet last night, DearEvette. I'd love to know the reason.
  23. Yes, he was hot, but that doesn't mean he didn't look like he could be obnoxious. Very serious, unhappy face. But a chiseled attractive face and a nice body. (I even checked online to see if Debra Messing was in NYC that week and she was.)
  24. I saw Will Chase coming out of a gym in NYC over the summer and he was gorgeous. I did a double take, which I'm sure he noticed. I posted here or at TWoP afterward, expressing my disappointment that his real life sexiness doesn't translate on TV for me. I suspect the show runners also think he's sexy, but have no idea how he comes off to viewers. I agree with the comment upthread that Nashville made a mistake breaking up key relationships and has no idea what to do with the protagonists now. I want to say this happens a lot on TV, but the only show I can think of right now is Men in Trees with Anne Heche and James Tupper. I loved that show during its first season. It wasn't great, but the characters/actors were wonderful and it was just really lovable. For some strange reason, the writers decided to bring in Justine Bateman to play James Tupper's estranged wife and season 2 became two different shows with James Tupper and Justine Bateman in one show about an estranged couple living together, and Anne Heche in a show about quirky people in a small town in Alaska. It destroyed everything, including many viewers' desire to see the Anne Heche character with the James Tupper character. I feel as if writers try to keep couples apart (Deacon/Rayna, Avery/Juliette, Gunnar/Scarlett) to keep the drama fresh, but because they still want sex and relationship angst, they bring in new love interests. The problem is viewers who are invested in the original relationships don't want to see the characters with new faces. We just want to see the main relationships grow (even if romance is out of the question) or find closure. The problem with Nashville is none of our core characters have ever really resolved anything with each other, which makes for unsatisfying viewing. I'm sad the show lost T Bone Burnett to other projects because the music is lacking.
  25. Well, this episode sucked me back in simply because I can't wait to see how Cyrus gets back at his lover and the Portia Di Rossi character.
