Lance can get caught in the crossfire, but nobody will bother to do an autopsy let alone find her killer. This all makes me feel sick. Another crazy idea that makes as much sense as anything else: Tamala was let go and Stana (who already had one foot out the door) gave an ultimatum that if Tamala leaves, she does too. ABC sees their way out of a toxic casting situation and a way to save money so they let her go. Technically, this wouldn't be Stana's choice to leave. And the "budget" bullshit is just because the other thing makes ABC look even worse. ETA: Surprised and also not that there's complete silence from Alexi and TPW. Think they're already fired for season 9?

It's fascinating how that random crew member's wife knew Stana was leaving before the main cast members did (eye roll). Not to mention was dumb enough to tweet it publicly. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship,” ABC said in a statement to Deadline. “Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.“ Nowhere do they say Stana isn't coming back. They refer to Tamala in past tense. So if you ONLY read this, and not the TV Line, etc. comprehension of the topic, there's no actual confirmation of anything. Granted, it's 90% likely she isn't coming back, but what if this was really a big misunderstanding that got blown up on the Internet, and ABC can't clarify yet? (Just a "what if").

And the guys can ask for all the contract stipulations they want while the woman are fired for doing so.

If the show ends up being cancelled anyway, this whole debacle will have been for nothing and even more disgraceful.

What's the strategy of announcing Tamala's departure at the same time? She's not even close to crucial for the show, they could have waited until the fall to announce it or, hell, not at all and just used Perlmutter more (or no ME at all). Was it supposed to soften the blow, like "see, it's not personal"?

Interesting THR article, which says ABC considered writing Stana off last year, that NF won't sign without his bros, and that the season 8 breakup was testing the waters for a Becket-less show. I mean in general, she seems to thrive on the drama, not just today. She responds to negative tweets and just brings them attention. It's her right, I guess.

When Nathan fails to even mention the announcement and tries to do his live tweet tonight as usual, we'll have our confirmation that he hates her.

My guess is this is to make Nathan happy. Not placing blame on him, but it makes sense. There's no reason they wouldn't even negotiate a shortened season with Stana for "budgetary reasons." There's too many other options. And with Tamala they're probably just doing what should have been done years ago.

Ironic this is announced the day the show is to air an episode called Backstabber that features Stana's replacement.

While I'm sure it wasn't NF's decision (and he shouldn't be blamed, but will be by the "passionate" fans), he could have strongly suggested it *if* the rumors they don't get along are true.

This is bullshit, and I'm so angry, but I wonder if her need for so much vacation sealed the deal. Of course it's a double standard with NF who asked for similar, but he's the show's namesake. And, more importantly, a man. ETA: I'm not blaming Stana at all, just trying to make some logic out of this. I'm so devastated for her, what a slap in the face to her. She doesn't deserve this.

She's definitely referring to the perfume for real, but she used it as a fakeout because everyone is wondering her status for next season. It's only funny though if she's not really leaving. Otherwise I agree with BellyLaughter that it's a dick move. Do what you gotta do with your career, but don't pour salt in the wound.

This cheeky/misdirect tweet from Stana would be kind of cruel/insulting if she was leaving and the show was continuing, so my view at the moment is that she's in: Ughh... End of an Era. #EmptyPerfumeBottle #Discontinued
