I fully expect them to redeem E2-Laurel down the stretch, but hopefully, they're going to ship her off to another show once redemption has been achieved. If they're going to make her a permanent fixture on Team Arrow and build a father/daughter relationship with her and Quentin, it would almost be like Laurel never died at all.

Live+7 ratings for episode 5x17 are 2.328 million viewers and a 0.9 in A18-49.

Live+7 ratings for episode 5x16 are 2.387 million total viewers and 0.9 in A18-49. Unfortunately, Nielsen never released the numbers for week 24 (ep 5x15), but Arrow is slightly down from it's last data point (5x14 had 2.457 million viewers overall).

Nobody needs to be replaced. What this show needs to do is keep more characters around on a 13-episode basis and balance out the cast a lot more. Not every character needs to appear in every single episode and they don't always have to send out the full cavalry in response to every emergency. Instead, they should focus more on smaller team groupings and mix up the constellation from ep to ep. That way, everyone gets something to do and has a chance to have their character developed over the course of the season.

Looks like last week's ratings low was a negative outlier after all - similar to LOT's 1.339 million viewers 2 weeks ago. As much as fans seem to love the flashback-heavy episodes, they tend to do poorly in the ratings. I remember season 2's flashback special did very poorly as well and was a series low at the time.

Well, if Black Siren turns out to be the abductor, then I think it ups the chance for the abductee to be Felicty. Surely, Black Siren would love to get some revenge for the punch in 5x10.

She is a much better fighter on LOT than she ever was on Arrow. On LOT, she's actually allowed to win fights. On Arrow, she always ended up getting knocked down because she wasn't allowed to upstage Oliver. Nobody is! Just look at what this show has done to Nyssa Al Ghul. Nyssa is a brilliant and lethal criminal mastermind in the comics (she gained control of the LOA by killing her own father) but on Arrow, they turned her into a wuss who had to beg Oliver to fight her battles for her. It's a joke.

Does Fedyck Images have an in with KC's management? This dude has been pushing her like crazy on his Twitter account. I doubt that's merely a coincidence.

I don't know if it's true, but I read somewhere that CL found out Sara was going to die and Laurel was going to become Black Canary while they were filming the season 2 finale. If she knew, KC knew for sure. That's probably also why KC was so giddy and may I say full of herself at a convention the following week.
-
Of course they will. She's a series regular. They'll probably present her as the special guest of the evening. Even a potential villain arc could lead to redemption and a return to her own universe in the end. Then they could spin-off KC/BS into her own show and make her the BC of Earth-2 if they so choose.* Honestly, that's what The CW should have done with Laura Vandervoort's Kara/Supergirl after she travelled to the future in the final season of Smallville. I still rue all the potential they wasted when they passed that up. (*) Not that I would want to watch it, but it is an idea that popped into my head.

As an actor, I so wouldn't care. I would much rather get to do some serious work over the course of the season and potentially go out in a blaze of glory in the season finale than merely exist on the show with no screentime or storyline for the better part of 2 or 3 years.
-
LMAO, I knew it! As they say: "Where there's smoke, there's usually fire." Agreed. I think this was probably already in the works by the time they scratched whatever plans they had for KC on LOT. And if she's really coming back as the main baddie next season, her fans should be absolutely thrilled. Black Canary is nothing more than an empty, worthless title on Arrow. Playing the main villain, on the other hand, promises ample story time and lots of cool character moments. If I were an actress, I know which shoes I would much rather fill.

They should just rip off the bandaid and announce that KC will be back for a substantial role in season 6. With all the rumors coming out of Vancouver (KC coming back as a regular) and DR mentioning Black Siren as a potential season 6 story at the most recent con, it feels like an inevitability at this point.

If they bring back Deathstroke, I'm wondering if Manu will be playing the part or are they going to stick some other actor into the costume like in the 100th episode? I'm assuming it's the latter, but hoping for the former.

It would have been best if Arrow had kept Sara as Black Canary when they had her. It would have saved the show so much trouble in the ensuing years. Now the show's reputation is pretty much in tatters and the Black Canary character has become a red rag for god knows how many television viewers, which is a shame because she's a wonderful character in the BOP comic books.
-
Of course not. It's clear by now that any version of Black Canary will never amount to anything but wallpaper on this show and in the case of Laurel/BS, you would also have to factor in that her face has been plastered all over the city after she died, so the character could never have anything resembling a social life. And yet, I am fully prepared to see them pull yet another senseless BC switcheroo. Goes to show you how little faith I have left in this writing staff and it's higher ups.
-
LOL, IMO she's doing even less. As bad as the writing was for Laurel, even she got more development before she got forced into the costume and she did get to contribute in group fight scenes. Dinah doesn't even get to do that! I haven't seen her in a proper one-on-one combat scene since she has joined the team. All she gets to do is use her cry once an episode and deliver some superficial, badass line. It's laughable.
-
As I said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they bring back KC as a series regular next season. Yeah, they may have Dinah now but they are doing sht all with her character. In fact, she almost seems like a BC filler to me - similar to how Susan and Billy were used as plot device love interests to kill some time this year. Thus, I could see them pull one last BC switcheroo in this year's season finale and claim that it was always supposed to happen this way - not recognizing that it's horrible writing like this that has completely destroyed the audience's trust in their show and contributed to the ongoing viewer exodus.
-
Interesting. Maybe Chase will unleash all of the monsters of Oliver's past. That would make for one hell of a season finale.
-
As in 2 final seasons? Because with the way the ratings look now, I don't see a two season renewal in the cards unless it's the end.
-
I thought it was clear that the show was done with Black Canary when they killed off Laurel, but clearly somebody forced the writers' hands and made them bring on another one. If they now bring back KC in a regular capacity, it could be another case where they are being forced into it - maybe as part of a panic move because of the continuous decline in the ratings? Of course, it could be something entirely different. Maybe they'll bring back Roy in the finale? Wasn't there talk that he was supposed to make an appearance this season? A Slade/Manu return would be awesome as well, but with the way he has been acting on social media, I would consider that a long shot at this point.
-
They could pull one more BC switcheroo. Send Dinah on her way in the season finale and bring back KC permanently as Black Siren, who's eventually redeemed and takes on the BC moniker. It would be more bad writing, but I wouldn't put it past this writing staff.
