The Small Talk topic is for:

  • Introductions
  • Off-topic chatter
  • Having virtual tea with forum buddies

This is NOT a topic for actual show discussion. When you want to talk about the show:

  1. Figure out the nature of the topic you want to talk about
  2. Look for an existing topic that matches or fits
  3. If there is NOT an existing topic that fits, CREATE ONE!

Examples of topics that populate show forums include (but by no means are limited to):

  • Character topics
  • Spoiler topics
  • Comparison topics
  • Speculation topics
  • In the Media topics
  • Favourite X topics
  • ...you get the idea

Happy trails beyond Small Talk!

@SilverStormm are we going to have separate threads for book readers and non-book readers when the time comes?

If we have character threads - do we have to watch out for spoilers about "in the book he reacted like this?"

Just preparing myself!

These are good questions that we’ll take into consideration. If you have more questions, please PM me, the forum mod, @saoirse. Thanks!

Request for the mods:

Could I suggest a Book-To-Show thread where we can discuss spoilers for up to the end of the first book (or only the first couple of books)? I'm pretty sure there's other people like me who haven't finished all the books yet and still want to talk about book vs. show stuff without being spoiled for the book endgame. The current Book-To-Show thread definitely isn't safe for that.

We could call it the "Book-To-Show: Spoiler-Lite" thread or something, with the understanding that spoilers from towards the end of the series are strongly discouraged.

I do understand the frustration. But there are a lot of partial readers, for various reasons - some quit, some are reading but haven't finished yet - and they're at all different points of the series. It would be impossible to find a cut-off point that would satisfy everybody, particularly since the show intends to cover 14 books in 8 seasons and there will be at least some shifting around of events. So you might think you're safe with a certain cut-off, but then the show changes the timeline around...
