Each week it could've been someone new referred to him by Sam and Dean or other hunters coming to him to solve a problem with Sam and Dean themselves stopping by every once in a while for their own case... and even better if Donatello, the profit, could've teamed up with him every once in a while ... or even Ghost Kevin. And for Frank-centered over-all arc stuff, we could've had Frank looking into and/or getting clues about what really happened to his family and solving that mystery.
