Kromm May 16, 2014 Share May 16, 2014 (edited) Okay, someone's gonna win this, and then likely we'll never hear from them again. So... who? Edited May 19, 2014 by Kromm Link to comment
Lily Adler May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 The Grimmie. I want Josh to win, but I wouldn't be surprised if she gets it. She gives me the Cassadee Pope vibes. 1 Link to comment
Sammich May 17, 2014 Share May 17, 2014 I also think the Grimmie will win. She does give off the Cassadee Pope vibe, and I think that's why she's being shoved down our throats. She has over 500K Twitter followers now. I want Josh to win, so I will vote for him as many times as I can!! I think it's possible Josh can pull out the win, but I'm not holding my breath. viajero May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 (edited) I think Josh pretty much has this in the bag, unless he really tanks on Monday. For one, I think he probably has taken the lead in cumulative iTunes sales by now, even if Christina may still have the top sales for an individual song with her "Hold On, We're Going Home" (and deservedly so in my opinion). I think Christina's US twitter followers (a substantial number are international and can't vote) are pretty much dwarfed by the show's voting public. Given the way the show is now attracting a much older audience these days, this should favor Josh. Of course she could still end up winning even if she loses, since the demographics of people who buy music is so different than those who watch this show. The key will be to of course come up with much better songs than the singles she's released in the past. On the other hand, Josh reminds me a lot of Javier Colon, A sympathetic husband and father with an attractive wife and kids, who has been struggling for years in the business. Clearly the best voices on their respective seasons, they even have very similar vocal and performance styles (as well as penchant for wearing hats). Just like Dia's post show music ended up outselling Javier's, I would be quite surprised if Christina doesn't end up outselling Josh. The difference between Cassadee and Christina is that Cassadee got stronger as the Season went into it's final weeks and went country, producing two of the three top selling singles in Voice history in the semifinals and finals. I think this is the main reason she was able to beat Terry. Christina seems to have peaked at Top 10. Edited May 18, 2014 by viajero 1 Link to comment
Delofran May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 I really, really hope Josh will win. I think it's a good probability. But the producers have been shoving a Grimmie win in our faces since day one, and I think her lemmings will be power-voting for her en masse because they got a scare by her being in the bottom 3. Jake is adorbs, but no way will he win. Josh FTW! Link to comment
Lily Adler May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 So long as they don't pull a Christina's journey sequence before her performance, I'll be okay. Link to comment
TheGreenKnight May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 I've been thinking Josh would and should win the whole time (although I also thought Sisaundra would be in the finale with him....), but I wouldn't be surprised at any outcome at this point. Christina because of the lengths the show will go to to push her and Jake because I never underestimate the Blake/country voting base's ability to vote for someone's genre/coach rather than their actual talent. I've been assuming for a while that Mumbles will win, because that's a blind, devoted fan base, who have proven in the past, on several shows, how they vote. That said, I'm starting to rethink that, based surprisingly on the very similar Idol final matchup and how it stacks up against this one. Both finales have youth skewing female contestants vs. older skewing male contestants. The difference is that while I think it's possible that the older skewing one may win there (because of generations of Meatloaf worship), with The Voice we have Jakey Mumbles right in the middle, and have to think about if he won't win outright, who he'd steal the most votes from. That's a tough one, but probably from Josh. This does depend on the young social media using public actually liking Christina though--which may be a lot to assume--and bothering to send a tweet at the right time. BTW: Added a second question to the Poll. If you voted already for the first one, it looks like it doesn't open up separate voting for the new question. What you can do is hit the red "Delete My Vote" button, which will clear your vote from the first poll, and then you will be able to revote--this time for BOTH questions. viajero May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 I'm still not sure where the perception is coming from that the show itself is pushing so hard for a Christina victory. Josh has closed the show more often than Christina (if you count the blindes) and they even montaged one of Christina`s battles. Adam has been praising her of course, but even he has never declared her the winner the way he did Danielle Bradbery. As for the twitter save last week, I still think that was a decision based mostly on commercial reasons rather than primarily as a way to favor any given contestant, particularly as it was announced before the contestants even performed. They make money off the twitter save. It's as simple as that. I've certainly seen nothing remotely as blatant as the propping up of Jena and Caleb on AI. Link to comment
Lily Adler May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 She did get the pimp out spot of the season. The FIRST Blind Audition. And I bet she'll be the closer for the Finals. Link to comment
viajero May 18, 2014 Share May 18, 2014 Being shown first in the blind auditions has not tended to mean much. A couple got knocked out in the very next round (The Morgan Twins, Tarralyn from Season 1), while a couple of others made the live shows, but fell short of the final (Jamar Rogers, Kat Robichaud). The only one to go first and make the final was Terry McDermott. So I wouldn't say it's ever been a big advantage or signal that a performer is a favored finalist. Link to comment
Monkshood May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 Based on the previews of his solo and duet with Usher, I believe Josh can take this. (OK, I happen to be a fan of the Police's Every Breath, but they sound real goooood, and both Josh and Usher's fans will eat it up!) He's a unique talent, and while the youthful following for Grimmie is powerful, I've always believed in the "silent majority." I personally find Grimmie to be a bit one-note and predictable in her performances, and I'm hoping that the semis showed that her star is fading because of it. Yeah, she can screech the big notes while dropping down on one knee, but I don't think it will carry her very far. At least, I hope not :) Link to comment

Monkshood May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 I didn't see video previews, but the iTunes previews for two of his songs are up -- the duet and his version of Adele's Set Fire to Rain. Both are amazing, of course. Link to comment

Well now Josh has a few million people magically loving him for no actual considered reason, but then also probably many other millions who now hate him. That said, the people who'd hate him because of Bieber's endorsement are less likely to vote in relation to this show at ALL. So on balance this probably helps him. Link to comment
car54 May 19, 2014 Share May 19, 2014 I honestly didn't care that much about any of the finalists this year. I think Grimmie will win because of her internet popularity, but I'm hoping Josh will win because he's on Usher's team and I want someone other than Blake or especially Adam to win. I have not voted this season....last time I voted was for Michelle --another Usher contestant, but I would pick Josh out of these 3. 1 Link to comment

It certainly wouldn't do anything for me. Hopefully a similar tweet from Diddy will counter the effect! Link to comment

I don't care about before - it's when there is viewer voting that the pimp spot is all important. Jake and Josh each got it once, and one none of them did but Christina went later in the program than Jake and Josh. Edited May 21, 2014 by kj4ever Link to comment
