It took me forever to place the actor, and then it hit me -- it's Finch from "American Pie!"

 

I will never forgive this show if they don't have a cameo character in the near future named Stifler's Mom.

After this last episode, "Shorthanded", I hope we get a peek of Serious Toby from time to time. I haven't seen a lot of things Eddie Kaye Thomas has been in, but I've enjoyed him. 

 

Toby has the "damaged" background that probably drives him, but the  scenes this week with just Walter were really good. The police station scene, where Toby faked being Walter's lawyer, was a nice piece of acting. Emmy-worthy? Probably not, but it felt how friends fight.

 

If the writers can get Toby to move away from Creepy, Stalker Guy territory with his ex, I will be happier. There are obvious control issues at play, but let's not add stalker to a Good Guy's resume, alright?

This is by far my favorite character on this show. He seems less contrived than the other team members to me, possibly because of writing and possibly because of the acting.
