S01.E03: Episode Three

Recommended Posts

Lots of sex this week! Even Emma getting some! And Emma has a foot thing apparently...

Poor Eddy, she is not doing well at all, dealing with Vidas death, as well as the girls coming in with all their personality and complications. Lyn is creating neighborhood drama, Emma is trying to change everything, and the bar/building is going under. And while Emma clearly doesn't like Eddy, she isnt wrong that their going under, and they need to start changing things if they want to keep the building. I did like seeing Emma stand up for her. I hope they can hash things out soon.

So the activist guy Mari likes is a creepy asshole. Is this some kind of home porn thing, or will use this as some artsy protest video? Either way, creepy.

Eddy is dealing with alot.  Lyn is a mess, she seems to be the type who just has a self induced crisis every 0.4 seconds.  She is lucky that Johnny's girlfriend is pregnant because I have the feeling she'd have got a beatdown in the street.  How old is Mari supposed to be because if she's sixteen like I believe I hope that the guy she's with is the same age or else that would be child porn, that he's taping them engaging in a sexual act is bad enough since too many times women get revenge porned and are blamed after a breakup.

I thought Johnny's girlfriend was pretty reasonable for a pregnant girl who found out her fiance is cheating on her! She was even quick to apologize after Emma's outburst (which was also nice to see -- I think Eddy appreciated that little bit of kindness from Emma). I'm still finding it hard to like Lyn. I thought she was kind of understanding how bad her actions were after the scene in the bar, though, and I hope her laughing over the drama of the sonogram afterward was just her putting up a front rather than being a complete narcissist who doesn't care about the fiancee at all. I do think Johnny would be a good match for her if he were single -- he seems much nicer and more respectful than the other guys we've seen her with/heard about -- but the timing is all wrong here.

I'm not used to this much nudity on my TV shows, but I'm not complaining! It was nice to see Emma get some this week (and that coming out scene between the sisters was kinda sweet and made me like Lyn a little more), but she didn't seem overly happy about her own "never call them again" policy. Hopefully she reconnects with that Cruz girl soon and has a more meaningful connection.

That guy filming Marisol is a piece of shit (and was a piece of shit even before the filming, when he kissed her for two seconds before unzipping his pants -- you know that guy isn't going to reciprocate anything), and I hope he gets what's coming to him.

I am really loving this show. I know this because only three episodes in, and I am already worried for Eddy. She must be protected at all costs!

Lyn is SO messy.

I feel for Emma, struggling to make sense of the bar business and figure out what to do about it.

I also fear for Mari, as I don't think things are going to work out for her with that anti-gentrification dude.

I love this series and all of the main characters. I even get how Johnny wants to start fresh with the woman and mother of his unborn child, yet keeps finding himself connected AND having sex with Lyn. He knows that she will never do right by him, but he keeps himself available to her.

I hope that Eddy finds a way to make it through her mourning of Vidalia. I also hope that both Lyn AND Mari finally see and understand that their mother found someone that totally adore her and wanted to do right by her.

I am so glad that Tanya Sancho was able to get this series on the air. Been a fan of hers since HBO's "Looking".

Lyn is one of those people who thinks drama follows her but really, she's the one who starts it - the "agent of chaos," as Emma said. Her life is messy because she's made it messy. She's a selfish drama queen. She calls Johnny's fiancee ratchet for bringing a sonogram to their confrontation, but how is that different from her posting an obviously-identifiable picture of herself and Johnny post-coital?

I felt for Mari there. Lyn said she doesn't know how to say no, and you could see that same sentiment in Mari's eyes when she was hooking up with the guy. She was hesitant and was doing it because he wanted her to, not because she wanted to. She wanted him to like her and a blow job was what he wanted, so she did it. (And I'm with you - he definitely wasn't even thinking about reciprocating. Probably never occurred to him. Any guy who kisses you once and then immediately unzips his pants is not concerned about your pleasure.) I think a lot of women, especially young women (I'm not sure how old she's supposed to be but she looks young) have had moments like that.
