starri May 1, 2017 Share May 1, 2017 Anyone else think the main theme sounded like "Immigrant Song?" I'm sure that was 100% intentional. Link to comment
tennisgurl May 1, 2017 Share May 1, 2017 I thought the same! The Immigrant Song should obsoletely be used at some point during this show. Yeah its obvious, but it would be so fitting! Really enjoyed the use of In the Pines (which they used to great affect in the first trailer) during Laura's funeral. Link to comment
WatchrTina May 2, 2017 Share May 2, 2017 I loved the use of "Iko Iko" in the bar scene because that song references a unique cultural blending only found in New Orleans where African Americans culture and Native American culture got blended up over the years. There are Mardi Gras "crews" or "tribes" made up of mostly African-American people who wear Native-American-inspired costumes that have been Mardi-Gras-ized. I like that because Shadow Moon's ethnic make-up is deliberately vague -- there's clearly some African-American in there but there could definitely be some Native-American as well. 1 Link to comment
Missyunion May 2, 2017 Share May 2, 2017 I found theme song different, but in a good way. Link to comment

nodorothyparker May 3, 2017 Share May 3, 2017 Spotify has a pretty extensive American Gods soundtrack playlist. I've always maintained that the Nirvana Unplugged version of "In the Pines" is my absolute favorite arrangement of that classic song but I'm finding myself increasingly partial to the version from this episode as well. Very atmospheric. 3 Link to comment

Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" was also used during the opening titles for one of the movie adaptations of Stieg Larsson's trilogy that begins with "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." It was so perfect for that, they obviously decided to shell out the cash. But yeah, it would have fit in well with this series too. Link to comment
