Do you think he's so dazed and bedazzled with his Negan self-insertion, elevating him to heights to which even his Governor self-insertion didn't, fantasizing himself as this tall, ruggedly stubbled, macho-type man, having his humble subjects bow to him and a harem of "hot" captive women in sexy little dresses ready to perform all manner of sexual acts at his whim that everything else falls by the wayside? Maybe when his teenaged writers rush up with "Hey, man - guts all over the street! Wouldn't that be freakin' cool?" he just says, "Yeah, whatever you think. I'm busy." Gee, that sounds really nasty, but I don't care. 3 Link to comment
rab01 July 14, 2017 Share July 14, 2017 I finally watched this episode last night and I've been skimming the forum since then but apologies if this has already been said: I liked Rick trying to convince Negan that he'd never break him; it was Carl's best chance to survive. If Negan really believed that Rick would never stop trying to kill Negan, he might kill Rick rather than Carl. I might have kinda liked this episode if it hadn't been for Maggie's voice-over at the end. Show-don't-tell damn it. And, in this case, they'd already shown all of it so why retell it? Everything Rosita touched this season really turned out badly for everyone involved didn't it? 3 Link to comment

I don't read the comics, either, but, sometimes I get bored and misuse the interwebs, and I think Spoiler the group is going to be permanently dispersed with Maggie living at Hilltop, and others scattered among the other communities. That's how I've read it is now. Spoiler Link to comment

Negan's "If you cross us, we will kill someone you care about," only works if it actually gets the group in question in line. At this point, Rick's group has shown several times they will not come to heel. They keep killing Negan's people, and now Negan is starting to look weak. Negan's henchmen may decide one of them should be in charge since not only do Rick and Company continue to defy them, but now people from the Hilltop and Alexandria have sided with Rick, and none of Negan's usual tactics have worked.
