Southern Accents: Mostly Horrible

I don't really care about accents unless the actor is trying to play it as a caricature. There are actors who think that people from the South all sound like Jethro and Elly Mae (RIP Donna Douglas), and talk that way because they see Southerners as subhuman or interchangeable. No one on TWD does that, so even if the accents wander, I live with it.

What the hell kind of accent does Coral even have, or attempt?

Given that Chandler Riggs is from Georgia, I assume he uses his own.

I just read a top 7 best southern accents list and Andrew Lincoln was on it.  My first reaction was WTF.  Second reaction was who in the hell made this damn list followed quickly by where is he/she from that he thinks AL has a good southern accent!

South London, maybe?

Maggie's accent gets worse and worse. Her line reading of "sore backs and tired feet" was awful. I've always thought she had a soft lisp when she tries to do Southern, but it's starting to hurt my ears.

Did that list have Pamela Reed on it or is she no longer famous (enough)? She had/has the best southern accent I've ever heard, well actually the best at accents period. She played Schwarzenegger's partner in Kindergarten Cop and I saw her do a bit on an interview show after someone asked her how hard was it to imitate Arnie ... she slipped into his accent and then did state by state accents for like a half dozen U.S. states that the interviewer threw at her.
