Is this an actual thing, or more proof he's never talked to a real woman?

I always thought the "all about Eve" meant that she was cutthroat, ruthless, and all about herself. Then again, I've never actually seen the film All About Eve, but I thought it was about a schemer trying to take Bette Davis' place? Am I wrong about that?

I've not seen the film either, @sinkwriter, but reading a synopsis, that's my take on it as well.
