galax-arena August 28, 2016 Author Share August 28, 2016 I thought that Alex at least came off as sympathetic. The only reason he got caught up in that whole mess was because he wanted to look out for Rocky. But he should have just cut his losses and let her die, man. (I'm a horrible friend lmao.) My overall review: it was like a super Rated-R "Home Alone" if the Wet Bandits broke into the house of the scary old neighbor instead of the McCallisters' IMO You're Next was a better version of an R-rated Home Alone. And IA that the baby/turkey baster reveal was super unnecessary. 5 Link to comment
slf September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Wow, a movie where everyone is repulsive. The "twist" (that so many male reviewers were jizzing themselves over) was beyond stupid and unnecessary. There were definitely parts of it that were tense but overall I think this is overrated. 3 Link to comment
methodwriter85 September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 It was a good movie, but I agree- why should any of us care about Rocky? She's awful. Although she DOES subvert the final girl trope by being a "bad" girl. I do like that in the end, the "villain" and the "hero" both basically get away with everything. She gets the money, but it's at the cost of knowing this guy is probably going to kidnap some poor other girl to impregnate, while the "villain" is going to be lauded as a "hero" who bravely fought off two home invaders. They definitely left room for a sequel. 1 Link to comment
MisterBluxom March 26, 2017 Share March 26, 2017 Yes. The characters are all pretty dispicable. But that is not the real point. At least not in my opinion. The real point is about the movie. Is it worth watching? Is it a good film? Is it entertaining? I thought it was a very good. It was very well crafted. It is a suspense thriller and this movie is just full of suspense and full of thrills. As a "suspense thriller", I would recommend it to anyone. As far as the "likability" of the characters, I think the movie works much better given the characters are all horrible. If they were all nice people, I don't think the movie would work very well at all. Link to comment
BooBear April 30, 2017 Share April 30, 2017 I did not enjoy this movie at all. I am getting hacked off at the "woman as sex slave prisoner" trope. I know this is ripped from the headlines but you just know people will be encouraged by a movie. That is sick and that is why you don't cross that line. I did not enjoy this move also because all the leads were stupid. First rule of a horror movie. If you have smashed the bad guy, and defeated him... or cuffed him up... you need to grab that gun and put a bullet in his head. Several times in this flick they left the bad guy in a position that he could come back and after them. Or at the very least report to who they were. This movie would have been 10 minutes long if they had just been smart and after the 14th time this guy escaped and came after them... grabbed a gun (or a crow bar) as the case may be and killed him while he was out cold. I also feel like it was a strange movie in that the only good one among the good guys, Alex, got killed. So I didn't really care too much about Rocky. I don't see that Rocky got away with jack. Obviously the guy didn't report them because he plans on going after Rocky. If that is the sequel I don't think I would bother seeing it because I kind of feel like Rocky needed to die. Wouldn't a job been a safer way of getting her and her sister to California? Just saying. Link to comment
