I got a call from a recruiter for a major chain salon asking if I'd be interested in interviewing for a management position. I flat out said "I'm not management material". I HATE it. I HATE telling people what to do, hiring, firing, taking shit from pissed off people, and all that goes with management. I'd rather keep my head down at work, have my clients and go home and not have to worry like @Oranaiche is today LOL! Sorry gal, that's a lousy spot to be in, because I can tell you still feel a sense of responsibility. I would too!

@Oranaiche, makes you wonder how people like this get management jobs!

Honestly our entire district is confused by this guy. He's a good salesperson (albeit a major bullshitter), but no management skills whatsoever, and the two jobs take a totally different skill set. I'll just say he's been in place two months and we still have exactly three people, including himself, who work at our store, which is the same number we had when he got here. I'm exhausted to say the least.

Exactly why I walked away from management. My district manager practically begged me to take the store manager position when it became available, and I told her sorry, but never again. I did it for years and I WILL go literally postal on someone if I step back into that role. So then we got stuck with this fucking guy who is like twelve years old and thinks he's hotter than the devil's shit.

Manager at a salon sounds awful. Can you imagine the complaints when people aren't happy with their haircuts, etc?

Oh I know! Don't even worry about it. At the very least, likes let me know the cool people are reading. ?

Well, the cool people.....and me.

Right?! Bitch bitch bitch. I'd NEVER want to do that. Women who are deeply invested in their own beauty can be the biggest pain in the ass.

From what it sounds like, you're still sort of a manager in practice. Maybe not in title, but in practice.

Yeah...well it's either that, or watch the store literally crash and burn. I always thought I had a little anarchist in me, but I guess maybe it's not as prominent as I thought.

I just got a picture in my head of a client with a Kate Gosselin haircut yelling at you because it's not what she wanted, and you're just like:

God @ByTor you just HAD to say "auditor," didn't you? ? It's my first day off in two fucking weeks and my boss just called me panicked because the internal auditor is at our store (for a normal yearly audit, not because we did something bad). I basically barked at him that it's my DAY OFF and that I've already gone over everything I can think of with him that will help him pass the audit. I come from a long management background with our company so I know these things. He, on the other hand, has no experience and has never been through an audit. The store will probably fail for things that I told him to change, and he didn't. And hey, it is NOT my problem because he's the manager and the audit is on him.

I'm almost kind of sad because I've known our auditor for ten years but I haven't seen her since 2014. I would have liked to see her. But at the same time I'm not sad because getting audited sucks, lol.

Anyway...uh, /seriouspost.

Ugh we just got audited and our guy was a super douchenozzle. So super nitpicky. Like he couldnt stand to give us a great score so he had to dig to find crap.

OMG I think this needs to go at the front desk! Those poor girls. I used to work the desk at a medspa and it was HORRIBLE. There are a couple older women at the desk now that are just dried up and humorless. I think that's what it turns you into. No thank you!

Also, I'm watching The Facts of Life, the college years. I have so much to say about the fashions and the music, I don't even know where to begin. Here's the band that's playing on this ep.

That's what stinks with my profession.  If you don't progress to manager you're stuck being a senior accountant with all the crap work that goes with it, but I'm not manager material myself.  I work for a consulting firm, and currently my title is manager, but the only thing I manage is my own work.  Now if they send other staff with me at an engagement who I'll have to manage, I may then be screwed haha.

I can easily eat half a large, but if I tried to run after that (or any time really), I would literally vomit on everything in a five mile radius.

Pizza is patient, pizza is kind, pizza does not envy, pizza does not boast. Pizza is not proud, pizza is not rude, pizza is not selfish or easily angered, pizza keeps no record of wrongs, pizza does not delight in evil, pizza rejoices in truth, pizza always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres.

Also, I will have you know, I think everyone on here is a meter maid. It's just my default occupation. Just like "Deb" is my default name when I don't know someone's name.

So you're all named Deb, and you're meter maids.

Even if I waited an hour, I'd be screwed.  I always run 1st thing in the morning, even if I wait a few hours after a meal I get a terrible stitch in my side.  Plus, if I do it early, I don't have all day to make excuses and not do it :)

You're my spirit animal. Problem is, I'm just as good as making excuses at 6 am as I am at 6 pm.

Do you just do cardio? Or do you lift? I LOVE lifting and hate cardio. Have you done yoga? I know it'd be sooo good for me but I just can't sit still that long!

Personally I think I thrash around in my sleep enough that by the time I wake up, I don't even need to work out. The roll at the top of my jeans might disagree, but I like to keep it around in case I get caught in a snowstorm and need some extra insulation. #reasonstobelazy

We are complete opposites here, I love cardio and can't stand lifting (thus explaining my old lady upper arms).  I took one yoga class and didn't care for it, I didn't feel like I got much out of it.  Maybe it was just the type of yoga, but I never tried another.  Years ago at an auction my sister won a free at-home Pilates class, which of course I went to.  It was tough, but I come from that 80s high-impact Jane Fonda school of thought, where unless I'm sweating buckets & heaving for breath I didn't do anything :)

By the way, I always thought doing sit-ups like this was unacceptable, did things change?

Morning exercise is right up there with morning hair and makeup. Just not happening for this girl. I am so envious of people who wake up more than 15 before work.

HAHA! Remember The Firm workouts from the 80s/90s? I STILL do them. They're amazing! But they do incorporate a lot of weight lifting so you may not have been a fan.

Why were those sit ups a no no? I don't remember hearing anything about that!

Oh, I had SEVERAL Firm videos...on VHS!!!  They weren't all that effective for me, but damn I was jealous of Susan Harris!

I thought full sit-ups were bad because they put too much strain on the back & could cause injuries, and is why "crunches" became a thing.

I love yoga and yeah there's different sorts depending on what you want to focus on; flexibility, strength etc.

Oh god, the horrors of being the manager when you have to deal with women who have the "I'm gonna need you to call the manager haircut."

So glad I got out of customer facing roles before that haircut got popular, because I don't think I could keep a straight face.

Another Okie! What part? That makes at least three of us! You ready for storms today? My daughter has dress rehearsal for her dance recital, and all the moms (myself included a little) are freaking out. We tried to get the hell out of here in the last few months to either Colorado or Washington. I got job offers in both states, but we didn't find anything for my husband ugh.

I was just asking myself why I still live here. I am on the Northwest side. By the TX border. We are watching the news right now and my car is safely tucked in the garage.

haha! I couldn't do hair. I mean, I CAN do hair but I wouldn't do it for a living. People are attached emotionally to their hair, I can't deal. I do skin/makeup and I LOVE it. I rarely get an asshole client. There's one dude who comes in and hits on us. His wife makes his appointments and he tells us he's not married LMAO. I'm like, dude, do you ever think we TALK to the desk staff!? And each other?! I think he thinks he's going to get a happy ending....we're not that kind of spa. He's got short man syndrome.

Speaking of documentaries, last night I started watching Inside the American Mob on Netflix.  I'm fascinated by real life Cosa Nostra stories, especially since the Bufalino crime family is from the general area where I grew up.
