Your DAYS Fantasy 50th!

Since a lot of us are feeling a bit down about the direction the show is headed lately, I thought it might be fun for us to imagine our ideal 50th anniversary episode. Now I think this would be more interesting if we tried to stick to plausible plot twists and character appearances given which actors are slated to appear and which aren't, just to show how easy it might have been for this whole affair to prove a little bit more crowd-pleasing even with the existing limitations. Still, this is a fantasy thread so feel free to also get imaginative.

How I might have done it:

In the days leading up to the 50th anniversary, Sonny would have returned to Salem and divorced Will formally, realizing he needs more time to mature and forgiving him for his mistakes so they can both move on and become better people. Will naturally would be disappointed but forced to face up to the fact that he really really let Sonny down. Lucas would be a sounding board for Will and keep him from falling apart.

John, in light of Marlena's disappointment over that divorce, would open up about his own shortcomings and past mistakes with Kristin and juggling women and being generally unreliable. This would bring them closer together.

Following the first two murders, Abigail's two-timing on Ben would be formally revealed to him, he would take her prisoner and end up arrested. Kate, JJ and Roman and the police would seal his and Clyde's fates in court, and Jordan would return briefly to testify to how she tried to keep been Ben sane over the years and clearly failed. Jennifer would have a hard time dealing with the realization that her daughter is pretty messed up when it comes to love and Abigail would begin therapy reluctantly with Marlena, only to quit, insulted by the notion that she has issues.

Caroline's Alzheimer's would continue to progress, forcing her friends and family members to retell the stories of their struggles (borrowing this idea from another member) and ultimately move her in with Kayla, who would take a leave from work at the hospital. Steve would try to be there to assist, finally bringing him closer to his son and wife and putting an end to their son's self-destructive behavior.

Brady and Eric would actually spend time together laughing and repairing their relationship.

Hope would definitely discover Aiden's debts and they would work through it.

Theresa, Kate and Nicole's storylines would be the same.

FOR THE BIG ANNIVERSARY EPISODE:

-When the minster is ill, Eric helps Hope and Aiden tie the knot and head off on their honeymoon just as Bo, unseen by her, finally returns to Salem.

-Sami and Lucas share some tender moments at the wedding that throw them both for a loop. Will takes notice and is privately very pleased.

-Clyde gets some kind of early release by betraying Ben to the Feds and then brags to Kate about raping Jordan and killing EJ. Kate places a call to Stefano and Clyde's car blows up as he tries to drive out of town.

-Caroline has a very lucid day and asks Kayla if she can attend the wedding reception. Her appearance and speech to the newlyweds is met with cheers and tears. Kayla shares a nervous dance with Steve, who is visibly overjoyed at their momentary intimacy.

-Abigail makes a big show of dancing around with Chad at the reception and grinning at Sami, prompting Sami to bust out that old recording of Abigail sexing EJ up and getting the DJ to play it after she, Hope, Aiden and the kids have left the reception. Chad, Jennifer and Will are disgusted by the audio and Abigail returns from the washroom oblivious. Chad comes to his senses and ends things with her then and there, politely. Jennifer whisks her daughter off as the eyes of judgment surround her.

-Stefano privately celebrates avenging EJ thanks to Kate. He recalls his other children, reflecting on the lives they all could have led and what he would like to see happen before he rejoins his dearly departed. He then gets word from afar that EJ is showing signs of improvement and smiles to himself. Celeste appears in the doorway and points out that if he is happy, everyone in Salem has much to fear...

So, what do you think about that? I think that would be a fun anniversary episode, and I would love to see Celeste back for it and Aiden happy and Clyde obliterated. I'm not too invested in the Adrienne, Justin, Eve and Rafe side of things so let's just pretend they've been back-burnered for a while. I sincerely hope however the 50th anniversary episode does play out that they are.

Before Ben is sent to prison he escapes and kills Abifail. While her funeral is being held at the Murder Park, a taco cart drives by and most of the attendees leave to go get some delicious tacos. A sense of well-being washes over the residents of Salem.

Zero serial killer bullshit first of all.

 

Caroline's disease worsens. Everyone comes back to Salem to say their goodbyes...with plenty of flashbacks and happy thoughts. Her funeral is a big celebration of her life as Matriarch of the Brady Family. Mine those vets for all they're worth...Victor's grief, all the Brady kids, grandkids, etc... 

 

Bo and Aiden marry. Bo watches but doesn't interrupt or make a scene b/c he knows he's chosen the ISA over Hope...over and over. He realizes she deserves to be happy not stuck in some 1980s flashback to better times.

 

Chad gets what he wants: Abgail. When EJ comes back to Salem alive, Chad realizes it was a mistake to want such a boring/needy/dead eyed woman who is Dimera obsessed. He dumps her and starts dating a successful Theresa.

 

Basic Black fun times with the snarky threesome of Theresa, Kate and Nicole. BB is super successful under their leadership and with using Gabi as a model for their line.

 

Theresa and Brady come to an understanding and co-parent Tate in relative peace...with only the fact she's dating a Dimera (see above) as good conflict.

 

Ben has a mental breakdown after figuring out how crazy bad his dad is. Numerous people go to Stefano separately to "handle" the Weston's. Stefano does everyone a solid and has them killed (off screen). No one is sad.

 

Paul is tired of Salem and this "who is my dad's family" crap. He gets a sportscaster job in MLB and leaves for NYC with Derek.

 

Eve and Rafe bond over Eduardo and become a couple.

Gabi and JJ...I'm cool with how they are going to be the next couple. I'm pro #Jabi

 

Finally:

Will realizes what a shit he's been for the last year...leaves a loving message for Sonny in Paris admitting his faults, etc... Sonny asks him to fly to Paris to spend some time with him. They decide they need to spend time finding themselves apart and divorce. Sonny stays in Europe to work for Victor. Will gets a writing job in Chicago and leaves Salem. He flys back weekly to see Ari, having worked out an arrangement with Gabi.

(Both Will and Sonny can be recast in a year and come back to Salem. Who knows if they get back together or not)

Swtrgrl, I'm not sure how I feel about "Bo" and Aiden marrying, considering I haven't seen them kiss yet. It's in his kiss, right?

Paul being annoyed with the Black family tree and leaving with an eye roll would be perfect.

Love your post. However, isn't Kayla living with and serving as primary caregiver to Caroline now? I've heard this mentioned by Victor et al and Kayla herself, which is why Carline having no scenes with Joey or no discussion about Caroline's health involving Joey makes little sense.

I would love to see Orpheus return (if the original actor was playing him and he does not look like an ode to plastic surgery). His character was inextricably linked to RomaJohn and Marlena, Bo and Hope and Steve and Kayla. It seems only fitting that he come back and raise a little hell for the 50th Anniversary (giving our old faves a storyline that doesn't revolve around their kids teen angst). Perhaps he could be revealed to be one of Stefano's nephews as that link always made sense to me given all we know about both characters.

I would also like to see Stefano retired. Perhaps Lexie's ghost comes and transports him to the great beyond (I would love for her to return permanently but since she hasn't even been mentioned as a possible return, this is the best I dare to hope for). Orpheus and Andre could wage war over who is the true heir to the DiMera super villain throne.

Victor could be supplanted by VI's character, assuming he is a villain. If VI is going to be a good guy bring in one of Justin and Adrienne's other sons, perhaps the one birthed by Angelica to fill the role.

Taniel would be revealed to have no link to anyone in Salem, thereby ensuring we never have to be subjected to him again.

Jack could be revealed to be alive through some DiMera craziness. Stefano's wanted him out the way so Abigiail could continue her DiMera peen quest without interference. This time around Jack and Steve actually get a chance to build the relationship they were starting before Steve's demise (Joey naturally would find out about Jack raping Kayla, which leads to his new estrangement from his father, whom he feels has not placed Kayla first not just since his return from the dead, but form the nexus of their relationship).

Lani's character signals the introduction of a black family that will serve as more than a prop for the show. She will be revealed not to be related to Abe, because, really show, all the black people are related to one another.
