I was actually surprised that her parents let her dress how she wanted and cuss, particularly for the 70s. I'm not trying to discount how especially her mom (her dad while growing up seemed ok? But when she's an adult seemed to not accept her - maybe from not seeing Boo and being around the mom?) was intolerant/ did not accept Boo for who she is, which is awful and unacceptable.

Re the 70s - I don't know. I believed that Boo's dad was that understanding, and then, in other respects, such as calling her attire at the hospital a "costume", gets it completely backwards. I'm also wondering if back then it was easier on some parents to have a gay daughter than a gay son. Although reading David Sedaris, who is approx. Delaria's age, his parents didn't appear to have much of a problem. I believe the 70s was still a time when many parents weren't living through their kids or helicoptering around them, and what really mattered was what was worn to Grandma's house or for the school picture. I thought Delaria did a good job in the flashbacks, particularly underplaying some of the stuff with her dad at the hospital.

I think that there is also an aspect of the parents playing off their child's appearance as "kids being kids".  Their "experimenting", "being young".  I think it is another thing entirely for you to have to confront your adult child on the issue.  There is a certain amount of public influence, shame, embarrassment that is now attached to the way you look because your an adult and can't use the "their kids" excuse.

"I'm not in Boo's demographic - I have an honest question - would someone like Boo really be able to pull the type of women she was shown with?"<br /><br />I want to start by saying I hate labels, tropes and stereotypes of all kinds. Maybe Boos look is popular and more mainstream for lesbians? I would have no idea although it just so happens that I only sleep with women. I don't have any self hatred or homophobia, I simply don't like to reduce my identity to my sexual preference. I myself am not attracted to her but assume a lot of pretty women are. I'd for sure be friends with her. I will say that I asked myself the same question when watching the scene. The girl in the bar seemed completely apprehensive with her the whole time I thought...? Anyways. :)

I'm a bit late to the party but I can understand the sex scene issue.. for me it's not so much the sex scenes in general (I had no issue with the Boo flashback one) but more the Piper/Alex sex saga. I just have no interest in seeing their sex power play continue.

I'm sure it will though.

I'm interested to see what the "extra room" comment is going to mean. I guess Caputo missed that line in his excitement.

And also, I've been reading about the Caputo love recently.. While he does seem to be doing his best to help the prison improve he is the guy who in last episode had to minimise about 5 porn videos on his computer, he received the grotty BJ from Fig and has shown that he will masturbate in his office over pretty much anything. I believe he is better than Fig but a good person doesn't do that type of thing at work.
