Madding crowd October 13, 2024 Share October 13, 2024 Did anyone watch “You Are Not Dumping My Daughter “? This was based on a real life case from 1993 when a mom hired a hit man after a 16 year old boy dumped her daughter. This woman was crazy! I felt so sorry for the boy and the daughter who just wanted to live a normal life. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8479842

Her husband basically married their daughter had a baby with her, then killed her, the baby, and the daughter’s adopted father before killing himself! It was awful. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8485799
Madding crowd October 20, 2024 Share October 20, 2024 Yes I watched that one too. That poor girl and baby. One thing I wondered about: it was clear Katie grew up in a nice and stable home but her personality seemed to change so fast when she came to stay at the birth parent’s house. Suddenly she was no longer interested in the family she grew up with or college or anything but her birth father. And how was he paying the rent since he never seemed to work. I felt bad for Alyssa and especially the poor baby. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8485897

Not that all babies aren’t cute, but that poor baby was so adorable that while I am extremely grateful they didn’t show what happened to him, the fact tha5 it was so obvious what was about to happened made me ill. Katie proved that anyone can get vulnerable to grooming, even those with a stable (adopted) family. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8486063
DanaK October 27, 2024 Share October 27, 2024 Watching “Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story” that broadcast tonight. Such a crazy real story. I thought the marriage therapist gaslighted the family from the start, including telling Ruby what her husband was saying in marriage counseling. Of course, Ruby and her husband were also wrong to force their older son to be part of their web series about the family when he didn’t want to and really, including the children to begin with in their business 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8491572
Madding crowd October 27, 2024 Share October 27, 2024 I watched it and wondered why in the world the dad didn’t get a lawyer and seek custody. His wife was talking crazy and the so called therapist was threatening and he just agreed to leave and sign everything over to Ruby. The actress that played Ruby came across much warmer than the real Ruby did. Glad they didn’t show too much of the abuse. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8491819

Well, I think part of it may be they were Mormon and used to being told what to do and I guess used to people have heavenly revelations. Or the husband was in so deep and so gaslighted by his wife and therapist up until then, he just wasn't able to think clearly And Ruby mentioned divorce. I thought that wasn't allowed with the Mormons or at least was very frowned on? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/26260-lifetime-original-movies-general-discussion/page/15/#findComment-8491842
Madding crowd October 27, 2024 Share October 27, 2024 I guess that was part of it but this woman seemed pretty far off the usual Mormon teachings. Most of them have a lot of kids and she seemed to suggest having any sort of sex was wrong. Of course the dad didn’t think anything was wrong with her family blogging stuff which her kids clearly hated.
