Wanna hear something funny?  Not funny "HA-HA", but funny "mildly interesting"?

In S8, we eliminated 8 episodes in the first week.  Same in S9.  In 10, we eliminated 7.  But in S11, we only eliminated 2.  (Costumes was also 2 in the first week.  S1 and S2 were a big, fat 0.)  

...That zero doesn't look very fat, does it?

Sorry.  I'll stop rambling now.  It's just that I love data so very much.

There are going to be quite a few episodes here that are going to have to be ripped out of my iron grip. In the carver era, good episodes for Sam are sometimes difficult to find, so I intend to protect as many of those as I can.

So... first, I did the "D" thing again.  It's the alliteration!  I'm really sorry. I CAN tell the difference.  But sometimes you vote alike too (*SueB whines in an attempt to soften her faux pas).  Bottom line: I read DD and DDD and miscounted.

I'll be honest, I'm not comfortable if catrox is so dead set against it. It's just a game and if someone objects to a rule-change mid-game, then I don't think "majority" is the right criteria.  So... change me to a "no", only because I think it should be unanimous.

Will we have to start over from scratch then, too?  Why is it after two weeks, it's okay to change the rules, when it wasn't okay after one week?

Either it's okay to change the rules once the game has started, or it isn't.  That's my vote on the matter.

I'm very sad to see that Dog Dean Afternoon was considered the "worst" of the best of the Carver years.  Jensen was hilarious.  Leslie Jordan!  On Supernatural!  And, of course, Steve Valentine, who I wish had been able to join in a more permanent role, not just a one-off monster.  For MotW, I think it's one of the best, especially in the Carver years.  But, obviously, mileage varies.

I don't think Dog Dean Afternoon was the worst of the Carver era by any means. There is the existence of  Bloodlines, The Episode That Shall Not Be Named, a couple of others from s8 and s11. It is IMO the worst of the list in this voting round. 

In retrospect, it was a decent example of IMO, the Carver era themes of 1) the monster in the human and vice versa and 2) the unintended consequences born of questionable/reckless actions made in the heat of the moment out of desperation.

Sam was going to drink the potion and Dean stopped him because Dean was being told by Gadreel that Sam was still in danger and he couldn't leave him yet or Sam would die. Dean grabbed the potion and drank it himself to protect Sam. It didn't occur to either of them that they'd exhibit dog behaviors. They just thought they'd  be able to talk to a dog. Unintended consequences. In the end Dean had become part of the bastardized canine species that chased him, mauled him to death and sent him to Hell (and mauled Jo to death in s5).

The difference between Dog! Dean and demon!Dean is that the transformation was treated as comedy with Dog!Dean. I wish it had been treated more seriously, but then the show would have to have remembered/acknowledged that Dean did go to Hell at all...but that's a whole other kettle of fish.

Also, I thought most of the dog voices were bad, Leslie Jordan notwithstanding, so I can't put it over other better episodes on this list.

Since the entire list is already the best of the seasons, all these episodes IMO are good episodes.  It just comes down to preferences and perhaps a few that are more universally considered exceptional than others.  

With that in mind, I feel a few eulogies are in order (EXCELLENT name "Sent to the Empty", BTW).

Dog Dean Afternoon - This is an episode that had more than one visceral reaction for me.  The 'ewwwww' for eating the cat. The full-on belly laugh for Dean playing fetch. The eyeroll and "BLEECH" for the poodle moment. And the gasp when Dean still kept up the DAMN LIE.  I found the episode very enjoyable. It's one I watch scenes of more than end-to-end, but it's still a good ep. Go romping in the fields of the empty now!

Heaven Can't Wait - I LOVED "Steve" the Gas and Sip worker. When you look up "earnest" in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure you see a picture of Cas next to it.  I'm so proud of him and his commitment to his job.  It also did a good job of pointing out Dean's blind spots when it comes to Cas.  Like he literally forgot he has to be driven everywhere.  Seems improbable but I think sometimes Dean simultaneously expects the world from Cas and also expects him to not "get it".  I loved the little dating advice scene, him watching Cas at the door, and Cas shooing him away. I HATED that Cas was mistaken about the date.  The way that played out didn't sit well with me.  And I loved his protection of the baby. But, alas, the pain is over for this episode and we move on.
