lol.... I have a 95 GB harddrive....currently, 10 GB of that is operating system etc. And 65 GB is 'Matthew Gray Gubler'. I can't even count the number of pics of him, cause the 'Screencaptures' folder alone has about 10000.....

Droogie is gonna kill me for this, but not every photo edit of Spencer is a happy one.......

really? *saddest face I can muster*

I wasn't trying to be funny. At all.

Anyone who knows me well knows that besides Matthew/Spencer I also have a thing for bears. Probably even moreso than my thing for Matthew/Spencer. This is a representation of *me*, with my heart ripped out, my eyes dead, the stuffing knocked out of me.....all because of that "Spencer" preview. I'm just hoping that the numbers carved into the wall aren't the number of days before he's GoodHeroicAngelSpencer again. And that others have the same sort of feeling.

That's a cut and paste, or something from last year's Devil's Backbone.

oh *that* explains it!!! thank you. I knew it couldn't possibly be from 'Spencer' but I couldn't conjure up any other time I'd seen him in jail....and of course, here he *isn't* It's just a fortuitous still from that other episode. Normasm is so smart!

I really do like the outfit he is sporting there.

And to lighten things up, I think Syd is the future offspring of Dr. Spencer Reid and Bookish Jen. She has Spencer's coloring and Bookish Jen's love of cooking. Plus, her fashion sense reflects both Spencer and Bookish Jen's distinctive styles:

Finally received my invitation to watch Hot Air, having contributed to the Go Fund Me for the film a few months ago.  Money well-spent.

Two naked butts, and neither of them Matthew's. :::shakes fist:::

The whole thing was expansively and beautifully filmed. Made Austin look like a place you wanted to be. Matthew was obviously outside a great deal, bc his face was tanned.

He was perfectly-cast. Hapless, deep, smart, sweet and romantic. He plays this type beautifully. Typecasting? Maybe. But bring it on.

Perfect, and I do mean perfect, chemistry with Jere Burns. This may be due to the ability of both actors, or to Matthew's innate charm (bc I've never not seen him mesh beautifully with co-stars, except perhaps Kat Dennings in Suburban Gothic but objectively I put that on her, bc I thought she was sort of stiff throughout. But Matthew and Jere were a dream team -- seriously, they could do more stuff together and it would be brilliant.)

Lovely chemistry with Schuyler Fisk as well. She's as luminous as her mother onscreen. And she and Matthew were a genuinely believable couple. There was a great kiss near the end I'd have liked to examined more closely.

Couple of plot holes -- I never quite figured out who "Kate" was until the end speech that father gave son. Or how Lesley came to be raised by his two moms -- although it was made clear his bio mom died in one of the first scenes.

A couple of tired tropes -- bio dad doesn't know bio son and rips him off financially then sees the light and makes good. But it worked. And there was the stopping the wedding at the altar, although he didn't, quite.

Never quite figured out the role Gary Cole played in Jere's life, although the pairing was effective.

Soundtrack was good, and fitting.

This overall was a lovely little movie that should see more hype and promotion but won't. I love the risks MGG takes with these things -- it's only luck that lets them see the light of day. So much trash get heavy promotion, but these indie films sink or swim on a lark. I appreciate the risks Matthew takes with these. This one was great.

Storing this in my WhyIsntMGGMoreFamous file.  I just loved it.

Nice review, thank you!  :-)  Sounds like it will be tons better than Suburban Gothic.

Really looking forward to it. Any idea when Hot Air will be available for purchase (or download, via Amazon maybe)?

ETA: Thanks for the screencap(s), Reidfan!  ;-)

you're welcome Senin.

I wonder what the scar under his chin is from... falling off the highwire as little Spence? A childhood mishap?

Write us a story, please!!

(If you hadn't said anything, I wouln't have seen it)

I was referencing Surface Tension, Senin......Diana mentions him wanting to do the whole high wire thing. It's *Matthew's* scar obviously (wonder if his big sister did it to him LOL), but since it's visible as *Spencer*, I made the comment O:-)

He has posted a picture of himself in the "orange suit" !!!

I don't  think I can stand this anymore!!! (cries, screams, yells, ....)

Maybe he did a guest starring role on "Orange is the New Black." Just being goofy. Off to try a new cookie recipe to de-stress myself from this Spencer arc.

MGG just does poor, hurt Spencer so well, I think the writers - who can't write for a genius anymore, so it seems - save most of the angst for him. And they can't seem to write him a realistic love interest, either. Does anyone beside me think they floated the lawyer, and then gave her the next month off, to see if anyone clamored for him to get together with her? I'm not buying it that they would be interested in one another.

Reid is about 36. The writers seem incapable of understanding that. They write him as this socially awkward germaphobe when he's a strong and badass FBI agent. And he fluctuates between the two characterizations. I just wish he was a little more dark, aggressive, and brooding.

Well, he will never be Hotch, who is all dark and brooding. Spencer should retain his innocent heart, IMO, because if he loses that, especially if it is taken by force from him, his only refuge would be morbid depression.

While i agree the writers toss him from pillar to post (he's a Luddite, he's savvy with computers; he doesn't shake hands, he shakes hands; he bad with kids, kids adore him; etc.) I think it's safe to say he's awkward, even as a 35 year old man (Spencer won't be 36 until October, while Matthew will be 37 in a few days). Lifetime issues with abandonment and peer ridicule have made him able to protect himself emotionally, but these events that keep happening to him would have the effect of eroding what little trust he has in strangers and even his friends (see JJ's attitude towards him when he dared be hurt by her lies).

No. He'll never be Hotch. There is only one Hotch. But shouldn't they have one dark and brooding character to fill the void?

What's Hot Air?

I don't know who mentioned Hot Air, but it's an Indy movie Matthew made last year a rom com, which looks cute, but getting it off the ground (pun intended) has been difficult. I've only seen bits, but he looks lovely.

they did a gofundme type thing for it and as a reward for helping out, a lot of us got a preview link to watch it online. I screencapped it to death :P of course. It was a nice departure from the Spencer character for Matthew, albeit not as much of a departure as the Chip character in 68 kill would be.

Well it was released last year, but they shot it here in ATX in 2014. I got to extra on it, speak some words to Matthew, and see him working, in the flesh.

Here's the fb page if you want to check it out: https://www.facebook.com/pg/hotairthemovie/posts/?ref=page_internal

I'm going to borrow one of Prentiss' lines: "There's a lot to hate about you, Willowy".

I had read about it on your blog, but now that you have reminded me of it I feel so jealous of you!

NOOO, don't be jealous! If it makes you feel any better, he very well may be here in ATX for 68 Kill at SXSW next week and I don't see any way clear to score a ticket.

SX is so locked down these days and you can't just buy a ticket to a single movie at the festival, you have to buy an entire badge and they are hundreds of dollars. Just can't afford it.

Does anyone know for sure if this is an old photo (wondering because of the glasses and shorter hair)?

it's an old pic. it's from 2015. Glenn Kershaw treated the CM cast and crew to hot dogs :)

This is super random but I've been watching a few older episodes and noticed something about Reid's gun. Not the fact that it's a revolver, which is already super weird, but the fact that he open carries it everywhere. It is understandable in a police station, but he'll wear it openly out in public in civilian clothes. It just seems very odd. Openly carrying a gun is not the norm in the US, and I would expect him to get some stares. I don't even live in a particularly anti-gun area, but carrying it like he does would be considered very taboo. I know that it is probably simply because it looks cool, but it always seems like an odd decision to me.
