Alan Rickman- sob!  I saw him in Private Lives- and also, of course his movies.  Such a man, such talent.

Re David Bowie.  I am an acquaintance with someone who toured with Bowie for about 10 years- he is the one who told me that he was like that; that he'd find a way to make it into art.

YAY for the new kitty Hostile!!! Are there photos yet?  Pets make everything better.  I firmly believe that.

As for the twittertwaffle:  keep the expectations to zero, but reach out to them- have copies of the bills to scan or mail to them, so they know your request is legit (as if you would lie).  That way, even if they turn you down, they know what they are doing to their daughter/grand daughter.  Twitterwaffleflutter.  Grrr.

Lovely Alan Rickman. You can Truly, Madly, Deeply me anytime -- I like it cold, and I have an amazing DVD collection.

Sadie is home; I'm giving her time to bond with Dad before I meet her. Now that she is out from behind the dryer, I think she's doing fine.

Yep. He played a great villain, but he made for a seriously swoony romantic lead. I don't if I've ever cried harder at a movie than I did at that one.

KPC's advice sounds good to me, dusky. Sorry you have to deal with that.

Very sad to hear about Alan Rickman. I'll need to check in with the nibling whose a fan of him and David Bowie.

Hearing Sadie was behind the dryer brought back memories of my first pet. The dryer was his go to place when we first got him. Amazing where they can sqeeze into. Hope Sadie's settling in.

Truly Madly Deeply, wrecked me. That and The Body are the truest representations of grief I have ever seen. The Body was on today, I don't know why I watched but I did.

Yeah for new kitties.

I sent the email, expectations are very very low.

I saw The Martian last night; still clueless as to why it was labeled a comedy for the Golden Globes. But the visual effects were amazing on the small screen -- I had to remind myself that, y'know, they didn't film on Mars. And congrats to our own Drew Goddard for his Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination.

The Body wrecked me. Dead Man Walking wrecked me.

Also? Work is wrecking me lately. Send me a few of those powerful vibes if you have them to spare.

Hugs and relaxing and calm vibes to you harvester.  So sorry that you're having a tough time.

Alan Rickman was so truly wonderful.  HIs turn in Sense and Sensibility and Galaxy Quest- to me he was one of those rare people who could flit from comedy to tragedy beautifully and easily.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

^^ Agreed. :)

It's freaking cold (below 5F) here for the third day in a row. I'm torn between wanting to go about my usual daily routine (which includes going to the gym) and wanting to just put on my soft pants and not leave the couch all day.

What did you decide, Chyna?

The identity crisis is getting a lot of people sick too.

I think winter is finally here though. It's been bitter cold for the past few days. We're supposed to get over a foot of snow this weekend.

Gym never beats couch in my world. Kudos to you.

I have lived in the same part of the country my whole life. It has always snowed here in the winter, but for some reason the pre-snow panicking is worse now than ever in my memory. It does not compute.

And I am behind in my food shopping, so I'll get to join the fun tomorrow!

Erratic, the day he's old enough to do swimming lessons without you in the pool? You will rejoice. :)

I spent most of yesterday morning doing a good deed and ignoring the stuff I should have been getting done, and the universe rewarded me by cancelling a boring meeting that was supposed to happen this morning.

Well I'm glad the universe is rewarding someone. Life is not being kind to me lately. It seriously needs to let up.

Got the food shopping done and picked up some firewood, so I'm ready to be snowed in. I'm looking forward to a nice lazy day.

The general good-will vibes that swirl around this place are working for the rest of us, Endeavour, so keep the faith.

My dad missed the last step down to the garage this afternoon and went crashing to the cement floor. Then he had to crawl up the stairs so he could yell for me. The lovely EMT folks said they could tell his hip wasn't, as he thought, broken (evidently, it becomes a different length with a rotated foot from the other if that's the case).

But it was a long day of getting him to the good hospital 45 minutes away, then x-rays (no broken bones!), then a CAT scan (no hairline fractures!), then painkillers (he's a fan!), then walking him around, then releasing him, getting him a sandwich (barbecue, no Texas Pete), and arriving home ten hours later. Diagnosis: deep bruise.

Crisis averted, especially since we're supposed to get eight inches or so of snow and sleet starting in a couple of hours. He was first in line for the dozens of slip-and-falls the hospital will have tomorrow. Get this: There was just one other person in the hospital waiting room. It was like a "Twilight Zone" episode.

Whew, Hostile, glad it wasn't more serious. But time in the hospital, no matter how speedy, is still a drag.

Vibe, endeavor, may the fates smile upon you forthwith.

I'm happy because despite a lot of work and personal business things looming around, I'm heading out (into the storm, literally) tomorrow for 3+ days at Stinson Beach with friends. Food, fun, fireplace, and maybe a bit of sun.

Thanks everyone. Work has been unbearable and I now need to start looking for a new caregiver for my mom. Making the decision has been extremely stressful and the change will not be easy for her. I tried my best to make the current situation work, but it's time. Keep those vibes coming for both of us.

I'm glad your dad is ok and home, Hostile. Those trips to the hospital can be exhausting.

Enjoy your trip, cko!

Yikes, Hostile , what a long and frightening day. Glad your dad isn't broken.

Vibes to you Endeavour and lots of luck finding the right new caregiver for your mom.

Hunkering down for a blizzard tomorrow and grateful that it's on a Saturday for a change. Having invested in a generator this summer I'm going to assume we will not lose power *fingers crossed*.

Hostile16-   OMG,so glad your dad is relatively fine after his fall. That could have been scary bad...and really, ONE person in waiting room? How?Why?What?!    You must have been exhausted too but at least he got out of there in one day. I know all about long days in hospitals. Oy.

I'm home right now waiting for the mechanic to call back. My "check engine" came on last week and I thought I better get it checked out before "Snow-A-Palooza 2016" hits tomorrow.  I took it there at 8am but I don't think they even got to it yet since I passed by the place and the car was still in the same spot where I left it;  luckily I still have my dad's car as backup,so  guess I'll just go into work because I think it will be a while. And I'll pick it when I get home.  I think I just need an oil change because it was due for a service check-up, and last time this happened, the engine light went off after an oil change.  At least I hope that's the matter.

Big vibes to Endeavour and mom.

I know, last year these things usually fell on a Monday or Friday it seemed.  I actually liked having the snow days off from work, but I guess a weekend is not too bad, just that it you can't go out and do fun shopping!

Having invested in a generator this summer I'm going to assume we will not lose power *fingers crossed*.

Oh please, that's what I dread the most. I don't mind being housebound, but without power, can't even catch up on TV!

Have a relaxing trip cko, sounds nice.

Is work treating you better Harvester?

Oh Hostile16, how scary. Strength and courage vibes to both you and Endeavor.

Not much new here. Been listening to Romani music lately; it's pretty cool. Also been mulling a concept discussed by one of my favorite bands, Cloud Cult. Basically string theory, parallel universes, blah blah, what would happen if you returned to your life from the future to change something but don't know what it is? What would you change?

Thanks all. I know it will get resolved and will be better in the long run. It's just getting to that point that's difficult.

I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery, Hostile. Sounds like Sadie has settled right in and will lift his spirits.

Oh, I hope we don't lose power. That's tolerable for a very short time. I think the current forecast is 14-20 for here.

I hope it's a minor repair Valny. My car has been cranky for a while. I've been putting off getting it taken care of. I need to find a decent mechanic to check it to see if it's worth keeping at this point.

That's interesting buffyjunkie. Something to think about when snowed in.

Hostile I wish your dad super healing powers and am glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

The storm is going to pass south of us so we might get an inch. I am very happy about that.

My daughter has started classes and I am already nervous about her falling behind and getting stressed and just blowing it and a considerable amount of money. Please send good study vibes.

Her father finally replied to the email after I resent it and texted him to look at it. He said and I quote that he had sent a "quite a chunk of change" in October, That "chunk of change" was a check for $500 which was put toward the ticket for Alexa to go see his mother. The ticket was $790 plus of course there were traveling expenses which I of course covered. He owes me at least 3 grand in child support but that $500 was "quite a chunk of change".

Vibes to all and Go Patriots!

Idiot twatwaffle. For you Dusky, I cheer for the Patriots. And I send vibes that your daughter finds something in the classes that fills her up. I know with the boy we advised a more moderate class load and even then he basically had to repeat a semester. Are child support laws varied by state? I think in our state they garnish wages and won't renew hunting & fishing licenses if you back-owe.

Were you able to get the car back Valny?

Study vibes headed your way, dusky. Sorry you're not getting the support you deserve.

The snow is still falling here. We must be close to 2 feet. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Off to light a fire and find something good to watch.

Are you all snowbound?

Your ex husband really is the gift that keeps on giving, isn'he, dusky? It was worth a try.

I hope Alexa settles in nicely at school. And even if she doesn't, the important thing is she finds her path and she's happy.

what would happen if you returned to your life from the future to change something but don't know what it is? What would you change?

That's a tough question.

Vibes for new caregivers, cars, studies and so on.

Enjoy your getaway, cko.

Stay warm everyone!

Vibes for Endeavor.

I hope everyone in the snowpacalypse is staying warm and safe.

My work situation is still, dramatic,,but I should know more by this Friday. The only bonus to the stress is that not being able to eat or sleep has been great for weight loss.

Welcome Lexxy.

Vibes for ailing parents, and condolences for those who deal with truly shitty exes.

Welcome, Lexxy!

Are you all snowbound?

Yes for yesterday. The digging out effort is underway today. Everyone in the digging out process stay safe.

Harvester, I'm sorry you're under so much stress. I'm sending vibes your way and hope everything turns out good for you.

Hello Lexxy. What forums fid you favor at the old place?

So. I finally have a free weekend and have come down with a major cold. Pooey. HGTV is totally addictive but that Tarek needs to chill the eff out because not making $100,000 on every flip is NOT the end of the world.
