I guess I’m getting old. I got a new tv from cyber Monday because I wanna cut the cord so I need a smart tv. And I’m not quite my mom, who could not program a vcr, but close. I think I’m 90% set up. I was able to get the apps like Hulu, britbox, etc set up before I could get it to find my cable box and in the bedroom it still can’t but I think I’m missing 1 hdmi cord. So I got it done but it took me most of the day and I kept saying “I’m not that old!” But then I have been putting together a Spotify list. That def dates me. Everything is old. But what’s odd is most wasn’t even my youth.  Being that I grew up in New Mexico with no mtv. We missed the entire “British new wave” you either had top 40 radio, heavy metal or shitkicker country. So I got to college and my friend Candice was singing “rock the casbah” and I would have bet money she made it up. It was not “real”. Then I discovered I did indeed like the clash. Just not Candice Singing it. I have decided I’m Irish. Like Irish Irish. I’m only watching Irish police dramas on acorn or britbox and I got a lot of Irish going on in my Spotify list. And with the passing of Shane McGowan whom I share a birthday with. I was listening to a lot of pogues over the weekend. If Christmas Eve in a drunk tank is not the very description of my soul I do not know what is. But I never knew any of these things when I was growing up. Had to discover them later.

FYI (since the site was down): the other day (Wednesday) was my wife’s and my anniversary - 38 years.  There’s something to be said for stubbornness in a relationship, donchaknow….  😉

Congrashulashuns on your stubbornacity! I know it was down for a few days but I can officially no longer access the site from my work computer. I can also no longer access our email. So I have to do both on my phone. I have a super old computer and it can no longer upgrade. We keep it because we cannot upgrade our Heidelberg. That software is like $25k so keep the old computer but he has to get me a laptop or something else so that I can still get stuff from the web. That might be a while (until it inconveniences him. )

FYI: after 37+ years, put in my papers for retirement yesterday.  Effective date will be 7/27.  Won’t quite be retirement retirement though, or not yet anyway; I already have a contracting gig lined up for afterwards.

Do the contracting thing for 2-3 years, and I should have this new house paid off.  😎

I'm trying to cook up a plan. I just paid off my car and if I can pay off my house within next 5 years, try and grab as much cash as I can and buy some land back home go keep my side hustle (call center from home) I can essentially do that from anywhere.

My neighborhood is on fire. They're building a new hyundai plant and sweet lord my neighbors are selling their houses for big money. I paid $82k for mine, 20 years ago. Across the street 3 years ago $350, next to them $389 just now the other side of them put up a for sale and it's $439. I do not believe I can get that much for mine, 2 bed 1bath 1100 sqft but heck give it 3 years maybe I get $400.

there was 150 acres for sale near my home town $140k. Do I need 150 acres? oh heck no. and that is undeveloped no phone no lights no motorcar, not a single luxury. But I know people who got cows snd sheep. I said we start a cult...get some east coasters who want a true "native" experience they pay me a humongous amount of money to just camp and we make em some fry bread and take em on a horseback ride. they can herd the sheep for a day. but even without my cult, looking for stuff that comes up for sale. so thats kinda 5 year plan.

It is essentially the plot to city slickers. You pay to go have your vacation as a working cowboy but we're gonna navajo it up. Told my friend Rodney he's gotta lead the trail rides but he can only speak navajo. I'll "translate". If they pay big money we'll cook em a sheep. Do a rain dance and sage them up. Close to casinos so at night they can go back in civilization and go lose some more money
