The Curse Of Oak Island - General Discussion

Recommended Posts

It's baaaaaack.

With a huge ass team.   Damn.    You know, there is some real archeology going on in Lot 5 and along the stone road.   I guess if digging up the rest of the island for "treasure" gets the funding for the real work, well, academia has sold its soul in worse ways.

P.S.  The stone cross may date from the 1200s, it does not mean its been on Oak Island since the 1200s.   There was a whole big thing of taking ancient objects from their old sites and putting them on your land just to show you could afford to do it.    I'm now going with the theory that the whole Oak Island treasure is the biggest hoax since the Cardiff Giant.   Someone decided to have some fun/raise cash and claim there was a treasure on the Island.   The rest is well umpteen seasons of this show.

How many people are now on the team? It grows each year, soon they will have to build condo's for all the people. Who is paying them? I have to admit, I have a little crush on Laird. I think Terry is an asshole

Totally agree about Terry.  Sometimes when he and Charles Barkhouse are in the same scene, I sense that Charles would rather be somewhere else.  I'm kind of neutral on Laird.

LOL !!!!!  For a number of seasons now, that look on Charles Barkhouse's face looks like a man who sees his money continually dwindling down to nothing. You have to wonder at what point do some of the others decide to pull out  before they're totally broke.

Do we really know that they're losing money?  They have to be making decent money on the TV show.

This graph shows the ratings the show has.  It looks like it has been slowly but steadily decreasing, but still brings in a lot of viewers.  I was wondering how people could still be watching this after 12 seasons of nothing really happening, but I'm still tuned in, so what can I say?

I'm still watching.   But was thinking about this last night.   They have to be making money.   The team keeps expanding (could have done without Gary's daughter being added, she's even more annoying than her Dad and that's saying something), all that equipment in the lab.   That mass spectrometer is not something you pick up used off EBay.

After last night, I have decided the whole island is honeycombed with interconnected caves, hence all the flooding.   Not booby traps, which I never believed in the first place, just naturally ocurring phenomenon.

I watch about one episode per season these days.  I start to miss shouts of "We've got wood here!" and seeing their heads snap back and forth whenever Rick says anything (that he thinks is) impressive.

They have found some amazing artifacts.   Part of the reason they can't dig on a chunk of the Island with their dozers is that First Nations artifacts were discovered.   That's where the real archeology is.   And the stone road.   The L shaped structure.   Lot of unanswered questions about what Oak Island really was in the past (still holding on to my navy base theory), but they won't bother with that because its not treasure you can "bite."

You have no idea how annoyed I was with Gary talking about his teeth wanting to bite some gold and needing shades for when they discovery the shiny things.   Like SHUT UP GARY.

You can't really blame him, since they sell it as a treasure hunt show, not an archaeology show.
