WendyCR72 October 3, 2014 Share October 3, 2014 The bounty on Halstead’s head becomes a serious reality as an innocent bartender takes a bullet meant for him. Olinsky tries to reason with Bembenek to call off the hit. Voight and the team keep this investigation in-house to find the hired assassin. After a tense interaction at district, Platt and Nadia come to an understanding. Link to comment
2KllMckngBrd October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 I have seen Jason Beghe in countless roles, and never thought of him as scary. But holy crap. When Voight stands there w/his legs spread apart, and his hands stuck up high behind the bullet proof vest, he is shit on myself scary. And smokin' hot. I keep saying this, but the voice is doing part of the acting work for him. And I love that they keep up the relationship w/Voight and Lindsey. It's usually the only time we ever even get a hint of a smile from Voight. I liked this episode. Especially the Nadia and Platt stuff. She's not a bitch, just cranky. And cranky I don't mind. Had to love that Platt had a rolodex. Damn. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. My son asked the same thing, at the same time as Ruzek. I tried to explain them, and he just kept asking why it was on "a roller". lol. I am still glad to see Markie Post, but I am already tired of her. She can work her steps and apologize to Lindsey, but that doesn't mean they have to have a relationship. Some stuff can be forgiven, but never forgotten. I just don't see this ending well for either of them. But at least Lindsey would have the whole squad to lean on this time. I'm just hoping it doesn't lead to some Mom and Nadia getting high at Lindsey's, 'cuz I don't think she could take it. I was glad that the bartender was going to pull through. More stuff weighing Halstead down seems unnecessary. I did wonder though, why have not-Shay from Chicago Fire appear, if the two of them weren't going to leave together at the end. Plus, there's no hit out on Halstead now, so he doesn't need to keep creeping around. I can't remember Burgess' new partner but I really liked him tonight. I just need to stop seeing the guy from SVU every time I look at him. There's a scene in his SVU ep, where one of the ladies he purposefully infected w/HIV, throws battery acid in his face. I keep thinking where's his scars whenever I look at him. 2 Link to comment
Chas411 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 Loved this episode, might have been my favourite one so far. Jay was great. The final scene where he breaks down was coming all through the episode. I liked his altercation with Sean as well and the fact that Sean wouldn't back down and let him through the door. Erin and her mother - my heart. She's such a letdown. I genuinely thought her mother was for real in wanting to make amends but it's obvious that it was all for show and she has no more interest in Erin then she did ten years ago. Loved the final scene with Voight/Lindsey - they are two characters that are hard to read and keep their vulnerabiltiy tucked in deep so a scene like that where they tell each other how grateful they are to have each other... It's just golden in my eyes. I enjoyed the Nadia/Platt sideplot and the fact that Platt actually felt guilty and apologised to her. I'm starting to like Nadia as part of the show and I really didn't think that I would. She's got heart and I appreciate that she's not too shoved in our faces. Ruzek and Burgess - the scene at the end was quite cute but I was confused over what the issue was. Was it that Adam flirted with the officer for information or was it that he's still acting like he was available to date? Please, please, please ratings don't fall again! 1 Link to comment
ChicksDigScars October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 I just need to stop seeing the guy from SVU every time I look at him. I keep thinking of We Are Marshall. He played one of the players who wasn't on the ill fated flight, and wouldn't rejoin the football team due to his Survivor's Guilt. Then again, every time I look at Hallstead, I want to call him Will Munson (from his As the World Turns days). Link to comment
betsyboo October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 JP, the retired hitman, was played by the actor who played an unfortunate soul in 24 that was killed by Jack to stop an attack. I couldn't get past it. Kudos to newStepdad for trying with Erin, but markiepost was so over it. HATE. Loved the interaction with Voight and such heartfelt thanks. I hope we get the story of the actual decision making to take her in, and some background on Camille. Loved that Nadia didn't take any shit from Platt. Hope she stays clean. I love that Halstead had JP's gun and in a chokehold in a hot second. I forget his military training. Intrigued about the Olinsky/NewPatrolGuy's history. And olinsky at the end with the mobster... AWESOME. Burgess & Ruzek? meh. 2 Link to comment
2KllMckngBrd October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 (edited) Then again, every time I look at Hallstead, I want to call him Will Munson (from his As the World Turns days). I had that problem when he started on Chicago Fire. I wanted to ask about his mom Barbara, and how the fam were doing, everytime he was at Molly's w/Gabby. Anyone who was on soaps for along time, I have to go through some serious mental gymnastics, before I can be in the moment w/their next role/character. I really like him as Halstead. He has that angsty thing down. I thought for a long time, that he and Lindsey were going to have a full blown romance, but they do seem more like just flirty friends. That scene at the bar at the end of the last ep, and the way Lindsey was with him last night, were friends who know they could go there, but don't. Plus, as we already know, Voight's head might explode. And I do see the sparks between Lindsey, and Severide, over on Chicago Fire. I want this show to remain primarily a procedural, w/the personal lives informing the units reactions to the case(s) of the week, but not devolving into "who's zooming who". I have enough of those kinds of shows on my tv lineup already. Last night's ep was the perfect balance of the two. Edited October 9, 2014 by 2KllMckngBrd 1 Link to comment
Xantar October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 I keep saying this, but the voice is doing part of the acting work for him. And I love that they keep up the relationship w/Voight and Lindsey. I sometimes think that Voight took in Lindsay so that they could have husky voice contests with each other in their off duty time. I was glad that the bartender was going to pull through. More stuff weighing Halstead down seems unnecessary. I did wonder though, why have not-Shay from Chicago Fire appear, if the two of them weren't going to leave together at the end. As you may have found out by now, Shay is no longer on Chicago Fire (apparently by Laura German's request). The blonde EMT who showed up in the emergency room is her replacement. What was odd was that Dawson didn't show up on the scene. I think in the first season they made Voight too mean, unconstitutional, and generally awful. They've toned him down this season and I find that I can get behind him. I'd hate to have him operating in my city in real life, but as a character he's good enough for me to root for now. Let's just please not have any more torture scenes? Sophia Bush is one of the best things about this show, and her monologue at the end killed it. 2 Link to comment
Jaundiced Eye October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 Am I the only viewer who is having a really tough time remembering the characters' names? I like the show, and haven't missed an episode, but I really have to strain to figure out who's who. 1 Link to comment
Chas411 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 What was odd was that Dawson didn't show up on the scene. Dawson and Jay have a history. Had she shown up they probably would have to acknowledge it and it would have just been distracting. Sylvie is new to the Chicagoverse so I'd say that they're just trying to familiarise both audiences with her. Sophia Bush is one of the best things about this show, and her monologue at the end killed it. Agreed, she's miles from Brooke Davis in this. They've toned him down this season and I find that I can get behind him. I'd hate to have him operating in my city in real life, but as a character he's good enough for me to root for now. Agreed. His relationships with others namely Erin and Olinsky help to endear him as well I think. 1 Link to comment

First, sorry for making that sentence about not-Shay confusing. I meant not-Shay in that they killed one of my fav's off Chicago Fire, but replaced her by a lookalike, whose name I can't remember. Around my house we have taken too calling her not-Shay and/or Fay. Sorry about confusion. Second, you made me do a spit take/laugh on the "husky voice off". And made me feel less guilty about always commenting on Jason Beghe's hoarseness. I had read an article way back that said he had throat surgery that went wrong, and that was why he sounded that way now. So I have always felt guilty about thinking that part of what makes his character so scary is his sound. Third, I like when he looks like he might be lethal, w/out actually being so. If that makes sense. He crossed every line when his character was on Chicago Fire, and in the beginnings of season 1 of this show. But last night I was completely on his side when he jabbed scumbag getaway driver, to get the information on who was the shooter at the bar. Last night he was dancing on that line, w/out moonwalking over it. And finally, I was never a OTH regular viewer, but my son was in the later seasons. He always said she was way too good for that show. And he loves her as Lindsey. 1 Link to comment
Chas411 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 (edited) I think that the difference between last night and the previous two episodes was that last night had a perfect balance of procedural drama and character/relationship. drama. I think the show is at it's best when it's dealing with the crime of week but also giving us a large amount of insight into the team relationships, characters and their personal lives. Chicago Fire is soapy while Law and Order is procedural. I think PD has the potential to be a great blend of both but for whatever reason it's just not there yet. It's a shame because I enjoy it the most out of all three shows. The reason I still watch Fire is for the characters and their relationships with each other. I don't always get the same vibe with PD but I did last night. I wouldn't mind a few scenes with them actually in Molly's hanging out at the end of an episode. Sophia Bush was great on One Tree Hill but the show was a total soap opera and lasted way too long. It's great to see her play a character who is such an opposite of Brooke Davis. Sylvie is new to the Chicagoverse so I'd say that they're just trying to familiarise both audiences with her. I thought Dawson didn't show b/c she's now a firefighter, assigned to the other station. 911 dispatch can't separate out Jay's exes, if/when he or Lindsay call something in. If Dawson had shown, I'm sure they would have handled it as professionals. Yes, I was surprised to see Sylvie was drinking with them at Molly's at the end of Ep. 01 and Olinsky dropped in to warn Jay about the hit. Now we know why - Link to comment

I just meant if Dawson were to show up then the writers might feel obligated to have them acknowledge how they know each other aMF it could distract from the actual storyline. It was easier to use someone new. Regardless of above id say they're just trying to make is familiar with Sylvie. Link to comment
