Snazzy Daisy May 13 Share May 13 Quote Detective Lin makes a discovery at the crime scene. Coop plays hardball with Kat. Chivo puts Elena in a tough spot. Air Date: May 16, 2025 Quote Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/
Snazzy Daisy Friday at 11:30 AM Author Share Friday at 11:30 AM Another tedious episode. Detective Lin and Hernandez have been focusing too much on Coop’s behavior than looking for other suspects. Coop has been arrested for the only crime he didn’t commit. Sam is too calm. She’s not grieving, she’s scheming. She has been seen texting someone when leaving the police station. Clearly it isn’t Coop. Not many people know about Coop’s car trunk that keeps opening on itself. Mel, the kids, Ali and Sam know. What’s the purpose of Bruce’s character? The hookup with Ali feels random. He doesn’t fit into the main story. Anyway, I am not looking forward to seeing Ali having a breakdown. UGH. The restaurant scene with Elena/Chivo/Felix is way too long. Who cares about Chivo? The Coop/Elena storyline fades away. And Elena has become uninteresting. 3 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8663352
Dminches Friday at 03:38 PM Share Friday at 03:38 PM Tell me if I have this right. Paul was randomly at Sam’s house the night he was killed? He doesn’t live there so did another thief randomly run into him when he as there? It seems too much of coincidence. The fact that Sam went out of town that weekend makes it seem like she is involved. Maybe Sam told Paul she would be away so he can go over there to get stuff. So she hired someone to kill him when he is there? If that’s the case, not a very clever story. And she also knows that Coop’s trunk opens up so she has the killer put the gun in his trunk. Sam didn’t know Coop was there that night too, right? I enjoy watching some of this show but there is nothing unique about it. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8663513

I don't understand the cops dynamic at all, are they half siblings? they banter like siblings and they were having breakfast together at her father's house, and why would a detective hang out with a cop in uniform like they're partners? Detective Lin is also way too aggressive and is her sidekick supposed to be funny? And the way they arrested Coop during a funeral felt a little too theatrical. The gun was obviously planted but the cops said that Paul was shot with a .38 and the gun in Coop's trunk looked like an automatic 9mm, it looks like a Sig Sauer and I'm pretty sure they don't make .38 so why would anyone plant a different gun? And there were multiple shots fired, no one heard it? The episode had so many unnecessary scenes, two long scenes in Spanish about Elena's brother and a long sex scene, this show kinda falls apart without Coop so any scene without Hamm feels like a waste of time. Is Bruce the guy framing Coop? I don't think he has a motive but his sudden interesting in Ali seems suspicious considering how he behaved when we first saw him, maybe he's working with Sam? Idk, Sam is definitely up to something, she was upset when she was talking to her mom in Boston and that was before the murder. At least Barney survived! I hope the writers finish the season strong, the show is already renewed so we all know that Coop isn't going to prison. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8663565
aghst Friday at 05:37 PM Share Friday at 05:37 PM So Coop dreams of stealing a $1 million diamond necklace or compressed carbon as he calls it. Pretty vivid when you're knocked out 12 hours after being jumped. Sam is trying to get a big divorce settlement but now stands to get $20 million life insurance claim. But she has to splurge out big money for the funeral? I couldn't even tell what these random visitors were writing in the book. It looked like most of the neighbors, probably because they socialized at the club? I wasn't sure why the cop was excited about finding that brochure in Coop's garbage but it had his blood traces from when he was beaten up? So he did an illegal search, no probable cause to go through his garbage and then they get a warrant out of it? Why didn't Ali text Coop about what was going on at his home? Coop wanted that lawyer at all costs and she was about to get them to release Coop since Ali wasn't mentally competent to accept the warrant -- or so she claimed -- but then the planted gun. BTW, they didn't cuff him inside the funeral home. They just marched him outside and then cuffed him to go inside the police car? 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8663624
BetyBee Saturday at 02:17 PM Share Saturday at 02:17 PM I agree that the conversation b/w Elena, her brother and the handsome gang guy with the face tattoo, went on too long. Since Sam was texting someone other than Coop, I'm beginning to believe that she hired a hit man to kill Paul (or to cover up for Paul's suicide to make it look like murder so she still gets the insurance money). I even wonder if the sidekick cop who smelled like a Christmas tree, is the one who planted the gun in Coop's car? Also whatever Bruce is up to, I don't know but it makes me fearful for Ali's mental health. He's not a good person, running off like that. I'm pretty confused at this point! 🤷♀️ 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8664494
General Days Sunday at 03:28 AM Share Sunday at 03:28 AM I've only kind of half-assed watched this show along with my husband. What Ali's backstory with Bruce? They were engaged, but how/why did they break it off? Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8664824

I thought that was her family's first inkling that she needed psychiatric help. Actually, I'm not sure we know who broke it off. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8664883
QQQQ Monday at 03:05 AM Share Monday at 03:05 AM Has Coop discovered anything negative about Nick whilst burglarizing various homes? Nick seems too nice / easy going to be true. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8665746

It was mentioned that they were supposed to get married, but Ali skipped out on the wedding because she had a psychological break at the time. The implication is things just fizzled out after because she wasn't in the right place for a relationship despite her still having feelings for him. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8665798
Slymm 22 hours ago Share 22 hours ago The cop never really questions why Paul would be at his ex's house. Sure, it's still technically "his" house, but that's not a good enough answer. I'm not even sure if Coop and Sam hiding their affair from the cops makes sense. I get that they wouldn't want that to get out, but once there's a dead body, you really don't want to start lying over stupid stuff. "Look, Paul's an ass, everyone knows it. He was talking shit at the party, and I told him to cool it. He lunged at me, and we got separated, and continued to party together the rest of the night. Now, between you and me, yes, we've been having an affair. But she wasn't home, nobody knew, and maybe you should look into why Paul was even at the house" The cop connecting Paul's death and Barney's injury to being in Coop's circle is beyond stupid. Barney got hurt b/c he failed to look both ways. Full stop. Once Coop got jumped, he definitely should have told the cop then and there about the affair. She's trying to look for a connection between Coop and Paul. "Hey, we're both victims here, maybe we're being targeted." The cop really went back and watched videos of a little boy's bedroom for multiple days prior to the murder? To what end? I guess Sam didn't text Coop about the cop b/c she's the one who ordered the hit. "Her mom said she was in Boston" is quite the detective work there. The sister not texting Coop right away is just bad writing 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153529-s01e07-the-first-honest-thing/#findComment-8667136
