DanaK April 21 Share April 21 Quote Netflix 3 part doc series premieres May 26 The series revisits the crime that shattered the nation’s trust in the safety of everyday brands. The deaths sparked nationwide panic and became one of the largest criminal investigations in U.S. history. The series will ask whether there was one mastermind behind these horrific deaths, or whether that theory is simply a convenient scapegoat in a darker conspiracy and potential cover-up. chessiegal April 27 Share April 27 I have a friend from grad school who was in management (chemist) at Johnson and Johnson when this happened. I remember talking to her then. J&J was working 24/7 to help solve it. 1 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153192-cold-case-the-tylenol-murders/#findComment-8646764

Cobb Salad May 6 Share May 6 I remember this well. I don’t have Netflix so I won’t be watching - not sure if there’s anyone here who’s unfamiliar with this story so - Spoiler If I remember correctly I don’t think anyone was ever caught. Scary thought. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153192-cold-case-the-tylenol-murders/#findComment-8654883
merylinkid May 28 Share May 28 Yeah it went a bit off the rails. Why would the guy who was probably a murderer already not be the guy who spiked the capsules? Suuure, he just sent a ransom note. To call attention to his wife's boss's bad dealings. Not you know, call the police, or report him somewhere. Nope, send a ransom note regarding the tylenol murders. that guy was darn creepy. 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153192-cold-case-the-tylenol-murders/#findComment-8673116

It's funny, I never thought the theory made a ton of sense, but that guy was such a chilling odd duck that I can actually see it. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/153192-cold-case-the-tylenol-murders/#findComment-8673366
Irlandesa Sunday at 09:32 PM Share Sunday at 09:32 PM I didn't like the fact that it went a bit into conspiracy theory at the end. Yes, corporations do lie, but it felt like the doc was trying to let those who believed in the conspiracy theory highlight the facts that fit the narrative, and they put information that didn't fit into that conspiracy into on-screen text. For instance, yes J&J did lie about cyanide not being present, but the pills came from two separate manufacturing plants, and the chemical makeup from the plant's cyanide didn't match up with the poison found in the capsules. There could be more undiscovered victims, but if there are, it's likely that they're all in the Chicago area since there wasn't another death in any other part of the country until the NY death. I could be wrong, but the conspiracy would involve two separate plants with a different cyanide and all ending up in the Chicago area. I think it would have been fine leaving it at 1.5 parts.
