iMonrey January 18 Share January 18 I was skeptical about this but it turned out to be pretty fun! They all seemed to be having a good time and I got a kick out of them giving each other so much crap. I like the host too. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8557719

The host is fine, I’m not sure about the focus on Drew Barrymore. Drew Carey seemed in his element. Alec Baldwin was a superior host on the 2016-2021 version of the Match Game until his accidental shooting and subsequent death of the director of his western movie. I doubt he’ll ever be able to do anything so lighthearted again as a game show.😔 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8557860
seacliffsal January 18 Share January 18 I think Drew Barrymore is the weak spot on the panel. She over-reacts to everything, yells, and just isn't that funny. Some of the other celebrities were really good. There's a reason I don't watch her talk show... I think the show itself has potential. What I liked about the original show was that the celebrities were on for a week (weekday game show) so I could get to know some of them. On this show I would like to see more of those who were only on for one half-hour show. RIP Peter Marshall and Paul Lynde. 4 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8557898

She is really dialed up to 11. 6 hours ago, shapeshifter said: Alec Baldwin was a superior host on the 2016-2021 version of the Match Game until his accidental shooting and subsequent death of the director of his western movie. shapeshifter January 18 Author Share January 18 (edited) Oops. I just realized this thread is titled “Hollywood Squares In The Media.” Do we want just a General Discussion thread, or separate episode threads? I should be able to start at least one thread. FWIW, according to ontvtonight.com this is still correct: ”The show will air…on Thursday [8 PM EST]…Jan. 23 before moving to its regular Wednesday 10 PM time slot Jan. 29 as part of CBS Game Night.…” (deadline.com/2025/01/hollywood-squares-afc-divisional-playoff-cbs-1236256567) Edited January 18 by shapeshifter Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8558157

As a producer of the show and a seasoned actor in the business, Drew Barrymore *should* be able to see if her role is positive or negative and replace herself as a regular if necessary. It's early yet, but I think she'd work better as just another square on the board. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8558357

Totally agree. They need a comedian with quick wit. Paul Lynde provided so much good humor as the center square, which is/was important as many players choose the center square immediately. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/151466-hollywood-squares-in-the-media/#findComment-8560731

I've only ever watched reruns of the The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour. Both hosts (Gene Rayburn and Jon "Bowzer" Bauman) were professionals who knew better than to put themselves in the center square.
